Today is my state's regional competition. It's my fourth year in DECA, but I never actually competed(:(). I'm not really nervous or anything(Aside from the usual epicness that everyone describes before a competition, or just any DECA event for that matter). Who else is/was in DECA, and share your experiences, especially those "This one time, at a DECA confrence" storys

I am in DECA, I have been in DECA for 3 years & competed every year.
You have nothing to worry about, Act confident, Hold up your head, Give them a firm handshake, RolePlay like a boss. The trick is to think on your head, try to think of EVERY possible scenario they could put you in.
The first time I went to DECA (state) I roleplayed in Business Administration; They asked me a bunch of questions I answered and came out #1 in the category + #3 overall.
Just don't worry you will do fine.

I did hotel and lodging. I got a 75 on my roleplay, and a 76 on the test(I got a medal for the test, not my roleplay, however :()

R4, what HS are you at? My shitty school on state st. doesn't even tell us about such competitions. and it's selective enrollment. -___- fml.

your school needs a marketing class/ department. You also need to register the club chapter

If your school doesn't mention it they are probably not enrolled. (It is pretty expensive about $50 for joining, then a certain fee for each competition.)

That also costs a lot, I think that is why many schools avoid Deca.

I used to be in DECA when I was in high school, now university is just too much of my time and I am not even sure if they have DECA for university students here in Canada. Anyway, it's a great time. If you want to write that you did DECA on your resume, most definitely do, a-lot of people know what it is, you'd be surprised.
