Not sure if I saw wrong or not.
But now do rocks with ore appear to be a different color than rocks without ore?
Talking about the brownish color of the rock itself (not the sparkles).

Yeah, when a rock is depleted, it turns to like a greenish brown.

I can confirm that some areas it's more obvious than others with my own botting experience. Sometimes it's even buggy that the color barely changes.
