There's actually been quite a few people who have PMed smarter non-members asking for them to make them a script for SRL Members, that people have informed me about. It's pretty sad anyways. I just find out who the requester was and fuck up their rep to red, so I usually remember their name if they ever go to apply. Unsurprisingly, most are complete morons that I would have thought they'd do something like that in the first place.

With more leechers coming, we have more to worry about. Like leaking etc.
In the past when we were the minority we didn't really have to worry about it. NOW WE DO.
Scripts and activity should be increased a level to get in, not made easier.

See'ing that thread actually was the last straw that has broken the camel's back for me…
I have had ~10 people so far PM me asking for me to either leak my own scripts, Flight's scripts, or anything else to them, and have had people offer to pay me to make a script for them, and have had bribe offers to vote when they apply. I threw all of those aside, informed them of the rules, and will vote no when I see them apply.
This is too much. I am officially raising my standards for membership. NOBODY will get a "Yes" from me unless they use custom TPA's, DTM's, use their own functions, and are an active person in the community that I genuinely believe have good intentions.
When will kids learn their daddie's credit card can't buy them everything

It's honestly getting pathetic.
I'm 100% for a full crack-down on obvious leeching, stupid people who make dumb threads, and those people who apply without a damn script. I'm almost certain that when applying, it says something to the effect of "You MUST have a script", yet people still apply, they deserve the ban-hammer or a major de-rep.
I'm now going to look through all of the posts for a person applying, if I find anything that gives me the notion that the work isn't their own or that they will not make a good member they will recieve a No. I'm going to start either demanding progress reports for the scripts, or test them myself, no more just looking at whether the code is pretty or not. Joined less than 2-3 weeks ago and no public script postings? That's a No from now on from me too.
Of course there will always be the few that will still slip through, but I am going to do everything in my power to start cracking down on these morons.

Report their PMs (for stuff other than them asking for your own scripts/"make a script for me" anyways - I think it's allowed for them to request that but it makes them an idiot who has never read "what SRL is about"). They will probably learn if a mod gives them a 2+ week ban.
Wait, it is against the rules to request higher-than-your-own level scripts, yes? You aren't leaking, but they are requesting a leak, which is just as dangerous, yes? And requesting you make a script for them and them applying with it is considered plagiarism, yes?

The way I look at it is like this;
A kid makes a cheat sheet for a test, says he is going to use it, has it with him. When the test comes, if the kid does not pull out the sheet, in my opinion its not cheating.
People look for easy ways out, the ones who with true bad intentions follow out in their actions, the others were just misguided or in a moment of weakness.

I am as confused with the voting as Dynamite.
I was constantly voting no for poor apps while there was a lot of post like: "nice, activity doesn't matter that much", "well, you show that you want to learn", "not too advanced, but a good start", etc, with yes votes attached.
I have also stated my opinion about "Why the rush for members?", "If you want help you can do so as registered." Not much changed.
So I was thinking, "Maybe I am the bad?" so I decided to vote less strictly.
After came the application rethink threads where everyone realized "things" and now this.
/rantthatnoneseemedtolistentome
I didn't voted for the last few app, maybe some of them, but my votes stand, they are fair imo.
I am happy that finally things are getting sorted out, tho.

I understand your decision of not reporting those messages, even though we'd love to take a look at them.
Still, it's lame for them to ask. Though they did nothing 'wrong', some kind of watchlist would be nice. We could always have a small interview about how the script works (through msn or irc or whatever), that would instantly bust them. If you wrote a script, you can dream it. You know exactly how it works.

Maybe we could add in more than one test for SRL membership. For example, we can divide the current test into 3 parts, each needing to be passed for gaining full SRL membership.
The first test can focus on the scripting abilities by having the user post a 100% original script and asking him or her different questions about it to determine if it's their own work, all this after checking the quality of it and confirming it is the standard required of an SRL member.
The second test would aim towards figuring out the user's helpfulness and general attitude towards this community. Of course, this doesn't need any material to be submitted and is purely determined by the user's posts.
The third test is used to show the user's abilities to figure out deliberate mistakes in another person's work.
These three tests combined should provide for a more secure member's section with people who truly know how to script and also confirm if they have the right attitude.
Also, demoting people recently granted this privilege should have to redo this test. I'm talking about people that joined in the last 3 months or so

I had the idea of a timed test a while back. Doesn't have to be complex, just multiple choice on things that an SRL Member
should know.
That's just silly. Another problem might be the loads of people with really old members accounts coming back and possibly leaking stuff.

Do what mitb did to his forums a couple of years ago. In order to register, and post, and view certain sections (I think), you had to pass a quiz. Mind you, it was incredibly easy and it could either be answered by common sense, or by a quick Google search. Honestly, the hardest question on that "exam" was: "What does ASCII stand for?" and you had to paste it into the little white text box and then submit all your answers.
Please do this!
lets just do some simple boolean quize, like.

From: owain jones
No need for substitution, it wouldn't make the problem any easier.
(t+3)^2= t^2+6t+9
For simplicities sake, lets split it up.
(t^-4)(t^2+6t+9)= t^-2+6t^-3+9t^-4
….
t^-3 is the same as 1/t^3, it really helps with calculus to simplify like this. Cheers.

You are a Senior Member ;) I would say that only us yellow name people would have to re-apply :p
i've been a member here a long ass time, why would i bother to apply again?
I see no point to resetting members. IDC though, fck if you wanna do it.

I say, if you do clear out Members, leave the ones that just got in and the ones that are active, would make it more fair.

And what about old timers? If they come back and they see they are not members? I talk about old-timers(not like me, 2 year is nothing) who contributed a lot, but because irl, etc, they don't come here often, but there are always some coming back to say hi. Sure they won't care(I wouldn't) about being member or not, but it's a little bit off "ehhh"(my inner translator didn't find a proper word) against them.
I still don't see this possible and I don't even see the need of this.
And tbh I don't even want it. Would cause too much drama imo.

I don't get the point of pruning SRL members… Someone care to elaborate?

Do what mitb did to his forums a couple of years ago. In order to register, and post, and view certain sections (I think), you had to pass a quiz. Mind you, it was incredibly easy and it could either be answered by common sense, or by a quick Google search. Honestly, the hardest question on that "exam" was: "What does ASCII stand for?" and you had to paste it into the little white text box and then submit all your answers.
Please do this!
I like this idea..

Have you guys noticed the report PM button? It's pretty useful in scenarios when ppl are asking you to leak, bribe, etc ;)

People are so freakin' greedy that they're willing to pay money in attempt to receieve much more. Honestly, I wish goldfarming never even existed, those damn websites that promoted it essentially ruined the game forever, even if there is no reflection, even if there is no more botting (color included), the game will never be the same because of people like this guy.

But of course my friend, it's one of my favorite buttons here.
