Slayer (Yes, Slayer)

Ok, I got the crazy idea of developing a Slayer Script Last night. Obviously this would be a huge task for one person, so I am requesting the help of someone that is pretty skilled in fighting scripts.

I think that if the fighting works pretty well, we could figure out the rest. This would be a long project, and may require more than 2 people

We could start with just Turael/Spria* for now (the lowest slayer master). It has a low number of possible tasks, and they are all low level.
Possible Tasks being:
Banshee, Bat, Bear, Bird, Cave Bug, Cave Crawler, Cave Slime, Cow, Crawling Hand, Desert Lizard, Dog, Dwarf, Ghost, Gnome, Goblin, Icefiend, Kalphite, Minotaur, Monkey, Scorpion, Skeleton, Spider, Wolf and Zombie.

We could add teleport support, or just make it walking. If anyone else is interested, let me know.

I know it is a daunting task, but wouldn't it be cool to be able to say you did that?

(their may be a members only Slayer script, IDK, but one with just the lowest Master Definitely is a script for everyone.)

[offtopic]I saw your name and thread-title and immediately thought you meant something else ;)[/offtopic]

Might be cool to say you did that, but it's a hell of a job, looooots of walking which is plain annoying and can fail easily.
You are right in that it would be a long project, and that's the main reason that no one (afaik) attempted one.

Yup, I thought about it all night last night when i was trying to sleep. It would be a lot of walking, but with teleporting, you could get very close, thus cutting down on the walking.

My biggest problem is I am not a fighting scripter. I wouldn't even know where to start right now, and I think we would have trouble determining how many we had to kill each time, yada yada.

Maybe a MSI project, Idk.

And yes I have one script out and I am thinking about trying this :P lol.

GL with it, even for injection bots a slayer script is extremely difficult to make.

Slayer bots were hard to code on reflection. Idk if colorbots can make it.

I have been thinking about creating an AIO fighter for a while now, similar to Narcle's, but with the ability to pick up many items, thus making it useful for Slayer.

Making it able to bank would be a nightmare, with all the different possible paths to each monster depending on skills. A system where it fights in an area, eats, loots, then logs out when out of food seems much more efficient to me.

Well, we can fight monsters, we can Walk (though Sketchy), and we can recognize things in the chatbox, I don't see why its not possible. Oh sure it will be buggy for a while, but honestly that is with any script that has to walk right now. I used a reflection slayer bot that was almost perfect, I ran it for 4 days straight multiple times.

So I think it is possible, It would probably take months to get it perfect, but I don't even really play RS anymore, I am just here to script now.

That's the best route to take. Make a fighter that can handle even one location, heal the player with food, and still manage to head to a bank to deposit look and restock. If you can accomplish this one time, then you could use the same pattern with multi-location/NPC support. Anything else like talking to a Slayer Master or teleporting to a location is just easy add-ons.

You could use a ring of kinship for banking, for teleporting, you could have each method of teleporting in a specific spot in a tab, like RoD in 1st slot, Glory in 2nd, and so on.

That's what I am saying, its not that far away right now of being very possible. The hardest part would be fighting and restocking.

Ya, good find, except they are using reflection. Making it outdated. I will still contact him and see how far they got.

Thank you.

Is reflection :p

I actually was thinking that fighting would be the easier part to do, looting drops would be annoying due to the variety of colors that can appear, so a database would need to be implemented to satsify each item an Monster can drop.

Right, and looting isn't mandatory for the lower slayer masters, as you would almost be wasting your time looting them. And the fighting would be easy, the banking and restocking might be a pain. If we could accomplish that for all of these

Banshee, Bat, Bear, Bird, Cave Bug, Cave Crawler, Cave Slime, Cow, Crawling Hand, Desert Lizard, Dog, Dwarf, Ghost, Gnome, Goblin, Icefiend, Kalphite, Minotaur, Monkey, Scorpion, Skeleton, Spider, Wolf and Zombie.

Then we could write a slayer script.

I was looking more at higher-leveled things personally, as what I do on my main(92 slayer, legit)

Gargs, Abby Demons/spectres, various demons, possibly dragons, dark beasts, fire giants

Would be members+ for those things.

Ahh, alright. Still look that over, might be useful:)

Right, I want to eventually have all of the masters, I was thinking we could just start small and work our way up, working out the bugs along the way. Me myself, I have a nearly maxed account with 92 slayer, so doing the low level masters is in no way beneficial to me.

Someone should start a Git directory for this, then people could contribute what they wanted.

I might work on this aswell, if you are going to setup a git for this, add a todo list.txt would be a good way to keep track :D

Im clueless when it comes to Git, who is experienced with it?

Tried to set up a Repo and I'm a little confused.

HardRockers

2012-01-02 14:10:51

I am learning Git, I really have no clue what I am doing right now, I would be happy with a thread somewhere where we could setup a todo list, and people post their snippets

it would be kinda pointless if you started developing without an universal walker. if I was you, I'd think about developing a walking system first

Having the spots preset and using buggy methods will not be the most efficient

HardRockers

2012-01-02 14:42:34

I am going to test the walking method i use in my miner at all of the locations. It is semi reliable, but we can use failsafes and it will be fine. We could replace it with SPS2 in February.

Ill work on the Git repo, I'm fine once I goof around with things a little. I absolutely hate walking, always give me the most trouble. As for linking things, we could use a system similar to MSI to make it easy for others to edit aswell. Once we get the main functions done, people could add monsters fairly easy.

Great idea in ltheory but one daunting task.

One thing I can say, instead of trying to create walking first is create the fighting styles for each monster first.

This way you can work backwards (Often making it easier), "Hey I am at Green Dragons, go back to Varrock Bank" Instead of "I am at Varrock which green dragons do I go to etc."

I wish you luck :), if you need help gathering colors etc. I am available.

Yup, I am talking to Laakerules about doing most of the fighting locations, and I am going to start making the paths to each, one by one. CRU1Z1N, I really wish I knew how to use that, lol I have been reading up on it today, but i still don't get it.

PatDuffy

2012-01-02 15:19:30

I would like to use a custom fighting procedure & functions. I know laakers is doing a good job, but we need to do everything perfect from the beginning.

HardRockers

2012-01-02 15:22:37

ok cool, I mean i am not a fighting scripter, I honestly have no clue. I don't expect one person to produce all of the locations though. So we just need to get a lot of people on the same page, then go from there.

Mark

2012-01-02 15:22:54

ill see what i can write up tonight

HardRockers

2012-01-02 15:28:14

Lets start with saying which locations we are going to use for each possible task

Mark

2012-01-02 15:38:18

What you can do like mentioned is update first thread or create a new one with a todo list
That includes all are progress

Failure

2012-01-02 15:43:44

Hmm that will be a badass Script, you have to write (I guess) each thing invidually to not get lost haha. To restock, get the monsters level etc, get the players stats and just think a bit like a player with 40 Attack, Def and Strength = 3 Super Attack, Defence and Strength. Well food, aint a problem specific items also not if you can detect which task you have. The walking would be the biggest problems therefore, it must be invidually scripted (From my brain ofcourse :D)
