Has any one ever thought of creating a chat box on this site, it would help a lot of people.

How would it help a lot of people? I've never used a chatbox on a site that has one in my life… And as YoHoJo said, thats what IRC is for

Instead of having to run a seperate program off of their computer in order to connect to and IRC to talk to people..who potentially are not even on to help them. Instead it would be easier for someone needing help to see people already typing in the chat box, so they could get their answer a lot faster than posting..or waiting for someone to go in the IRC with the who might not even be there with the answer they are looking for.

I think if i posted a small question in the chat box that the entire website saw..I would have a more significant chance of recieving a relevent answer than to just get in an IRC with a low number of people, who might not even help you.

Just more efficient, and I also think it would have more members in the chat boxed if they had to sign up, then on a separate IRC.

And to quote you "I've never used a chatbox on a site that has one in my life.." Ya well I've never used an IRC in my life, and I was raised when the internet and decent computers were getting popular..lol

Use mibbit for I RC then you don't need a seperate program

True, it is slightly less convenient, but I like IRC. You can run a webclient to connect so you don't need another program, and if you ask a question, people are always ready to help.

I'd honestly prefer a chatbox.. wayy better than IRC.. I've used many IRC clients too.. MIRC, Mibbit (SUCKS), Rooms (for iPhone).. etc..

IRC is less convenient and chatboxes are just there.. u visit the site, bam chatbox.. ask a question instantly.. Having to open a new tab to use crappy mibbit -__- nah.. Ventrillo > Chatbox > IRC

I agree ^^, just saying I mean why not..it's basically an IRC…just one that is more convenient for the people..I'm sure quite a few people who need help don't just flock to the IRC, with a chat box I think discussions would be more prominent. Alright all I got to say on it.

I'm guessing it would be flooded with help me fix this pl0x how I dwnlud ur bot it no work fer me etc. Whereas if someone really wants help and is willing to try a little they can go on I RC and we know they actually are willing to do things and care to get an answer. Just my opinion

Yeah but if they really don't care, they'd just post on the thread of the script OR post a whole new thread asking for help..

No because it'd be easier to post in a chat box that's right there instead of having to find a button for new post or new thread

Hahaha that's indeed true IF we have a chat box.. but if we don't, their not going to go on IRC.. they're going to make new threads like the one currently on the main page saying help help help..

This is what i'm saying. Rather than having so many help threads regarding so many different technical issues, why not have people helping other people in REAL TIME.

It would get too cluttered in a chat box trying to help someone with code,. Then people would spam…its inevitable, and there would be flame. More trouble than its worth, IRC is there foe those who wish to use it,for the others they should adapt.

It has been suggested for a Members+ chat-box,and I fully support that.

Shoutbox/chatbox == spambox.

I feel like a lot of flaming and spam would happen in a chatbox. I just use mibbit, but when I assemble my pc I'll probably have more patience to set up an IRC program.

I set up XChat 2 days ago in less than 5 minutes, I like it so far and I've never used IRC before.

You guys act like the many admins and mods of this site couldn't monitor it..
Or an even better idea, make a set limit on amount of character so you can't paste giant code, and also a flooding code so you can't do a certain amount of entries like 5 per amount of seconds.

Two easy ways to prevent flooding..which are probabley included in the chat box set up lol
