Never get lost.

Ya its a long shot but if you never want your player to get lost… you may want to add this to your script…
when your script ever detects the player is lost or somthing.. last resort tele to lumbridge(check if in random first).
and form lummy map walk(ya see you have to be good enough :p i know a few) all the way back to starting point.
this way you guy will never get lost.

The difficulty of that would differ because of the location(s) you will need to walk to. And, there would probably be a big chance of you gettin lost walking back meaning that now you have to walk your account back yourself, all the way to the starting point. Sounds like more work for us, but this isnt a bad idea. It would work out if the walk isn't that far at all, like the goblin sched, but just logging out would be better in my opinion.

well if you are a 1337 map walker… this wouldnt be to hard of a job.
ya still a posiblility of getting lost while walking.

I was thinking about this because Ive seen alot of lvl 3s default asain type things ending up in the top of the wizzy tower while I train mage. This is because they fail randoms. Now, say we randomly atempt some of the unsolvalbles and get teled, home tele then walk back.

Its a good idea… I dont know if it should be publicized. I had a LRW(Last resort Walk) system built into a private script of mine which worked well. I guess it doesnt really matter :) Your choice(S).

Here's a similar, more extensive idea that Avaphi and I have had (at different times) and plan to act on in the future:
A Walker-Web. Much like a spider web or a subway map, it will be a series of points joined together. Each point is a 'station' that has a unique location detection function, that will return true if you are in that area. These stations can be added over time, expanding the web. Also, there will be short walkers that go from a station to another nearby station. This way, if you get lost, or veer off course in a walk, you just wander around until you get to a recognizable station. Since each station will be numbered, and include an array of integers containing the stations it links directly to, a route planner function will pick out paths from the start station to the end station. The more stations and the more inter-station-walkers, the more flexibility it has, and it doesn't have to go through lumbridge all the time.

Boreas your a genius. So basically what your saying is, if a player gets lost it all "wander" like north or south until it finds a recognizable place like draynorcolors; or something then walk to bank to the location from the other web-point it found while wandering? pure genius.

Yes thats what we were discussing on msn less then two weeks ago. Post thoughts of it people. The question is, if done by the masses(Entire SRL forums/Public Cheating) will it cause JaGeX to pursue people…

doesnt anyone remember Flyboy's lumbridge walker project?
it was the idea that you walk from lumbridge to anywhere
the thread is still in the 'SRL New Functions' somewhere

I think that is a fantastic idea. Like you said, if we get alot of people working on it, it would be a managable project.
Avaphi, why would this cause jagex to pusue us anymore than they already are? If that is a real concern, you can limit it to be just members, so less people get ahold of it.

well yes all you have to do is try random….
that should be a new proc.. tryrandom :p
then if you get teled to lummy you should walk back.. or if you get lost wander and if it cant find it then tele and walk back..
you shouoldn't be to concerned about it…
and if you honestly think it is a problem then we would have to limit to who we distribute to.

aww man i have done like the exact same thing. i had this great idea last night. this morning i was starting on it then looked on here and here it was my idea. well anyway ive basically finished my version of it. i havent tested it yet.(has to have all players inactive and then it starts). ill see if it works. going to leave mine on all night. hopefully my mouse is fast enough to do anything.
edit: mines from lumby to fally. got the walking down pat just need to see if my funcs work properly
Boreas that idea is similar to how Aryan used tiling and could detect how close you were to a tile(in that it would walk to that tile if the tile was in range) though I do know you weren't around with Aryan. :P

I was thinking of a bigger scale than tiles. Like lumby courtyard, chicken pen, etc, all/most 'stations' will have at least 1 symbol. Hehe yea I'm a youngin' lol

I think its a good idea. If you want, I can grab the world map and start marking on stations we may want, so we know exactly how much work it will be :p

omg Boreas that would be insane. maybe we could make it a community project or something? and then when its done, incorporate it into srl. so the scrips could have, for example:
if(lost) then
repeat
walk north
until
location recognised = true ..... then it figures out the location of where we are
location recognised := draynor bank (for example)
final destination = faldor bank (set in const?)
destination := port sarim (the next web point recognised)
walk(to port sarim)
Then it would go on and continue to go from web point to web point, until it reaches the final destination. Of course depending on what the final destination is (set in const) it would go to and from different web points. for example, if the final destination was falador bank, and the location recognised was varrock west bank. the web points could be fly fishing spot, barbarian village mining spot, then the road to fally.
all of the web points would be included in srl, as would the final destination functions etc etc.
