[Suggestion]Bringing back Jr Member Section?

I know, in the past, there was a Jr. Member script section that was home to a number of banking and somewhat useful scripts, might we be able to have this again? I do not believe there is currently one concentrated topic on this, if so my bad :p
The reason myself, and others, have recently been discussing this is because of the leaching epidemic in the public scripts section. I personally do not feel right hiding the things I create behind the veil of Membership, as I believe that Jr. Members should also have the right to use a number of scripts. Of course, I also feel like the requirements for Jr. Membership would need to be changed to a reasonable standard, perhaps ~50 posts and ~3 weeks?
Pro's for Return of Jr Member Section- Less Leaching in the future, or atleast minimize the impact of leachers
- Jr Members would have a purpose again
- A Person would have to express an interest in SRL to receive privileges to decent scripts
Con's- Potential for an increase in spammy posts
Of course, there would also need to be another public scripts section clean-up and the migration of scripts to a new section, if created. I'm curious to hear some other people's opinions on this.
Yes!!I think it will encourage them to learn more about scripts and apply for SRL Members.
offtopic: There are couple of registered people made decent scripts (much better than the ones in the first script sections), and I those should deserves JR member status.

Yes! The only reason why I got into scripting was because of the JR. Member rank. Had to earn it.
If this is reinstated it should be the same as it used to be; 10 posts 7 days. 50 posts is too high and will surely clutter our forums with spam.
I do support the movement though.

I don't know about the 10 posts and 7 days though…that almost seems too low to "deserve" access to decent scripts. Currently, there would be plenty of people who meet that requirement but are clueless, their 10 posts consisting of questions on how to set-up Simba and the 7 days would mean nothing to them.
Maybe something in the middle?

10 is not enough, agreed.
With the rise of spamming we(well, mods I won't do dirty job) can enforce the rules about spamming more, right? Like, we can put out some cut-off bloody heads outside with a label: "he/she was spamming too much".
Or that's not how things work here?
EDIT: These new folks should learn patience anyway. As I have said it already I will say it again, in my opinion they are rushing for the better scripts too much, applying for members even with not so ready scripts. (and some of them (for me amazingly) even gets lot of yes)

I completely agree with that. Recently there have been atleast 3-4 apps that someone has created to apply with a script they posted in the "First Scripts" section. It's a good thing that they want to become Members and learn, but they are rushing too fast.

Yeah.
To complete what I said, I didn't meant they are not heading the right way and that they don't got the potential. Most of them having a very good start and they are enthusiastic, but they are not quiet there yet. I don't think they even know(this is completely understandable though, it's not easy to find what we want to see in an application, imo) what level of scripting is required to become a good member so maybe giving them another step(junior section) would give them some idea that member is something even more.
I don't know what sense my post makes, sorry, I just tried to write down my feelings.

One week and 10 posts is too short IMO. I think 25 posts and a week is good. Just need to step up the spam filtering ;)

I agree with this movement, it was this way when I first joined here, and it made me what to contribute useful feedback to the few scripts that I did have access to. I think they were like a power miner, and a few others, like a power chopper. The main problem that is faced with this is MSI being an extension of Simba, so it is kind of hard to limit access to that, and it banks.
As for the limits to get in, I think, ~25 posts and 10 days would be a good amount.
EDIT: It could also be based off of activity instead of post count, that way people can't spam their way there in one day if their account already existed but didn't have the required posts.

OR, what if we just take away the post count requirement? One month and whatever the amount of posts = Jr. Member
Voila, no spamming

In the discussion of apps, I have seen a lot recently that have been getting yeses with absolutely horrible scripts. They copy TPA finding procedures from ACA or someone else's script and just use their colors/tol. They have zero failsafes, their loops are incredibly simple, the flow of their functions is ugly and sometimes illogical. They have little to no understanding and obviously just want the "coveted member's scripts". That is good incentive to learn but at some point their focus has to change from getting good scripts to actually wanting to learn.

why should posts matter? just make the time wait longer.
They have to make simple script which is judged by an srl member, (only one needed, maybe)
15 days here
10 posts?

I am 141% with this.
I honestly believe it is a problem.

In full support, and always will be. Never supported the move to remove that section in the first place.

I think this is a good idea, beside giving users something to look forward to, it could give them a better idea of what a SRL members worthy script looks like.

I miss it being setup this way :( Would give me a good reason to write a few power/mine/chop/etc. scripts.

As a newbie to this site, I would love something like this as a middle ground between normal users and members; something to aim for before going full members.

And you don't even see how many rushing member applications we get without any script or with a totally not enough one.

It's current position is indeed very interesting. I'm sure it's a mistake, but I don't see any harm in not members seeing it, tbh.
EDIT: I just realized there is a poll, so that may get off.

Maybe a straight time thing would be better. A month or so would be plenty of time to figure things out I think.

I didn't want to create any issues with Registered Users by them complaining for lower requirements and such.

I fully support this.
I was literally pissed for the removal of the Jr. Section.
I got a title that I earned in 2006 and was able to view the Jr. Member scripts and I felt like I just found the secret pantie drawer at some random girl's house.
Now that I have it, it's like what benefits do I get? Yea it makes me look good and what not, but what do I benefit out of it?
{I'm not trying to be stuck up or anything like that. )

So I noticed. I hadn't yet read the second page. My bad.
On topic, I'd really love to see the JR section again. It's a nice place for scripts you don't want to keep private but don't really want to just publicly distribute.
Any updates on this? :x Sorry for the bump but I'd love to release some of my scripts to Jr. Members.
Indeed we need this section, since I got this..

Am alright. I can probably answer most questions you have. Apart from MSI and SPS
Yeah. Is making 200k an hour making unf at soul wars good money? Cos i have been bot 24/7 on about 20 accounts's quite easily. I can't be bothered to do multiple accounts on scripts cos if i have only 10 pcs running, it means i need like 100 accounts altogether :/
Thanks

That guy pm'ed me on Sythe asking to pay for me to add multiplayer support for the script for him.
Yeah, unfortunately most of them now just using simba to poorly gold farm and willing to pay anything for it:(

I fully support this, and even for Jr members there should be some sort of a requirement, I hate leeching and would do anything to minimize it. I am even willing to come up with some sort of a testing system that can be used with the Jr's. I'm very very experienced in HTML and believe that we could make this work. To be frankly honest with all of you, I don't think making people post in threads is doing anything but outputting more spam into the form. We need to make them learn something if they want something in return, namely, by testing them.

I don't think that's the crude solution we're looking for here RM. We all realize that if there were no 'user groups' there won't be leeching, but everyone also wants it contained (I'm pretty sure).

They'll be leaked from the Jr section easily. It'd also increase the number of shitty posts. It's a nice idea but Jrs isn't a big requirement, and even though it technically makes them not a leecher, they still are. Goldfarmers will just earn the requirement with bad posts.

Seems like everybody is just ignoring my post about JRs rank being achieved by longevity solely and not postcount + longevity… :(
I propose this:
JR rank is achieved at 2 moths + JR. Members script section
How about just a month, Zyt3x? Two month seems like a long time to wait just for more scripts. At least, in my opinion, that is.
I like the idea of just longevity though. Perhaps it could be given to deserving users, also? Those that actually contribute in the form of helping and seem to have an eagerness to learn.

If we could make it so that you can't apply for membership unless you have the JR Member rank, then I agree on 1 month

That seems more understandable. I believe the 2 months wait is quite the lengthy wait… as previously stated.
I think a mix of zyt3x and previous would work well. Maybe a month wait and 50 post? If someone made their own decent script, we could individually promote them to JR member too.
But regardless of the entry requirement, it will create a good section where we can create banking script without worry about being leeched to hell. Like I said above, there are people abusing this one kid's unfinished potion maker as gold farmer, the person who created that script deserves a JR member, and the person abusing it should deserve to stay as leecher.

Agreed. And yes, the whole title to the potion maker (200K/hr) is really the only thing that I can see why people are abusing it so much. Titles should be kept simple as well to some scripts, not ones that promote goldfarming, because I'm pretty sure we all feel the same way about it (most of us)
