SRL Rules & Regulations

The staff reserve the right to interpret these rules any way they see fit. Staff may lock or remove topics and posts at their own discretion. They may also issue infractions to users as they see necessary for maintaining a positive community. Any disagreement with a staff member's decision is to be resolved through the use of the PM system. Any public disputes are to be avoided and are infractable at the staff’s discretion. You have no rights and are entitled to nothing.

SRL is for the beginner and the advanced, for the hobbyist and the semi-professional. We are an open and free community that believes in cooperative learning and sharing. This is only possible when we all participate together and do not leech. We encourage all our users to get involved and participate in our community. This does not necessarily mean that you have to be an amazing scripter. There are many other ways that you can still contribute to the community. A zero or spam filled post count and a hard drive stacked with good scripts is not an option here. The SRL Community has worked thousands of hours on this project and we are giving SRL out for free. All we ask in return is that you stay awhile and participate in our community.

Although the main focus of SRL is for scripting, we also like to have fun and debate over the “Real Questions of Life”. You are free to talk about any other subject; however it must be within moral standards. Always remember that you should debate the topic, not the person. Speaking directly to the adolescent majority: don't do anything your parents wouldn’t want you to do here! Failing to stay within morality will lead to infractions or bans. In short, just behave!

The SRL Staff retains the right to ban any user at any time for any reason and without question. However, you will be automatically permanently banned specifically for the following offences:

[INDENT]Do not post any scripts that you have not written yourself on any forum unless given permission from the original author; this includes edited or modified scripts. [INDENT]This consists of posting or linking to adult, child, and or anime pornography or any other unethical, inappropriate or offensive material. In the event of illegal content is posted, such as child pornography, the appropriate law enforcement agencies WILL be informed immediately.[/INDENT] [anchor="spam"][*]Spam Advertisements:[/anchor]
[INDENT]Any advertising bots will be banned on the spot and if spam advertising does occur, the internet service provider of the associated IP address will be contacted.[/INDENT] [anchor="torrent"][*]Illegal Torrents / Warez: [/anchor]
[INDENT]The posting of or linking to warez, illegal torrents, cracks, keygens, serials, authentication bypass guides or any other illegal copyrighted material is at no time permitted on the forums. [INDENT]Any topic related to key logging, password cracking, or helping others create, use, or distribute password cracks or key loggers is strictly prohibited. [INDENT]Posting, linking to, or distributing viruses, trojans, worms, malware and any other malicious pieces of software, in any form, is not tolerated. The SRL Staff retains the right to issue and infraction or warning to any user at any time for any reason and without question. You will receive and infraction for the following offenses:

[INDENT]Buying or selling of any scripts, services, real world goods, or virtual goods outside of the black market is prohibited. Please visit one of our friendly neighboring communities for anything related to real world money or Runescape related gold.[/INDENT] [anchor="plagiarsim"][*]Plagiarism: [/anchor]
[INDENT]This involves posting someone else's work claiming that it is your own creation; this includes modified versions of the original work. Doing so will result in an infraction and suspension on the first offence and a permanent ban if it happens again. Copying and or modifying functions or procedures is only allowed if you credit the original author properly. Three infractions will result in a suspension.
Six infractions will result in a permanent ban.

[anchor="srlsource"]SRL Source Code[/anchor]
The SRL-Library is free of charge and distributed under the GPL v3 license. All SRL Code may be edited, modified and copied as long as you credit properly and include the full source code. This means that you must refer to the original author of the material in the header of your Script and Function.

The above does not apply to any script other than MSI. The copyrights of an individually made script are held by the script author. You MUST get permission from the original script author to publicly edit, modify or post their scripts. Failure to do so is against SRL rules and you will be reprimanded accordingly at the staff’s discretion.

[anchor="scriptrestrictions"]Script Restrictions[/anchor]
Scripts posted on the SRL forums must not contain any obfuscated code or be of a malicious nature in any way. If caught posting a password stealing script, you will be immediately banned.

[anchor="srlmember"]Applying for SRL Membership[/anchor]
In order to become SRL-Member, you will need to apply with a well written Simba script that demonstrates your competency with the SRL Library. The application form will create a polled thread allowing SRL Members to judge your abilities and vote yes or no on your application. You may only submit one application per month (4 Weeks) unless otherwise stated by a staff member. If you apply with a script that is not your own, your application will be immediately closed. You will then be punished as outlined under “Plagiarism” in the “Infractable Offences” section.

[anchor="rep"]Reputation[/anchor]
Reputation points at SRL are only used to show appreciation towards other members. They will not get you any extra privileges. Please do not abuse the reputation system as it is only meant as a bit of fun. If the reputation system is abused, it will be disabled.

If you post a meme you are responsible for any content depicted in the meme (ie: inappropriate language, racism, etc). If the meme breaks any of our rules, you will be infracted for it. If your post solely contains a meme and contributes nothing to the ongoing conversation, it will be regarded as spam and will appropriate actions will be taken. Please try to keep the memes on 4chan and reddit, that is where they belong.

The Avatars are reserved for Donators, SRL Member rank and above. There are no Avatars available for Registered Users or Junior SRL Members. Keeps avatars appropriate and do not use the SRL Ranks as Avatars. Failure to do so will result in an infraction.

Very good rules, but however I think there should be size limit for images in Signatures. It's very annoying to see big pictures, like one guy already has in this thread.

Sginatures idea is not to have some "very cool omg" picture in it, but it is signature, so people know it's you. Pictures are okay when there is your name in it and it's not very large. I hate when I see signature pic that is very large, and doesn't even have users name in it… Why does he even have it?

Not really sure what that means. Is it in relation to your post size? And I'm pretty sure that my signature is more then 3-5 lines? I'll size it down to however many pixels/pixels is okay with you guys. :)

So if admins decide what rank players get what basis are they handing out the different ranks? Is it based on whether the admins simply like them or not? It better be based on the cold hard facts. Post, activity, join date, threads, etc. –argue with me about this topic if you dare–

This new update with the post minimum and such is a great idea. In fact, I am now trying to learn how to script as opposed to just leeching the scripts I want from other players. Big Thumbs Up. :D

Yeah… As you can see, I was a closet case leecher since the beginning of this year in febuary. :-\ but seeing the change to the boards recently, I have to decided to be an upstanding citizen O_O … wow, that will probably be the last time I EVER say that phrase again. But to this community I believe it is worth saying, I have watched from behind the scenes and I am very envious of the people who are gifted to script. I tried once in my "free time" (if the time you have other then studying at college can be called that) but needless to say… it didn't go so hot.

So in conclusion. Thanks for forcing me out of my leecher shell, and into the chaos. :D

Ok, seriously, this site is so freaking awesome. I used to use SCAR like 2 years ago to raise my Combat lvl 80 to lvl 90. Then got bored and quit. Now I discovered this site and it is exactly what the SCAR community needed from the beginning! All your policies and rules really keep law and order around here.

I don't think I'm good enough at SCAR programming to apply yet though. Hopefully I'll get back into it though. This site has inspired me. :)

Umm, I just want to say something about one of the rules. Warez, cracks, serials, reverse engineering software, etc.

* IS NOT ILLEGAL. It is ONLY illegal if COMMERCIALLY DISTRIBUTED FOR PROFIT.

* Illegal to the person(s) who attain it that disagree to 'terminate' it within 24 hours of download, etc.

nice set of new rules. I only have one remark about the automatic ranking- i've been here for a year, and i'm planning on becoming active(i kinda forgot about SRL), since it isnt about buying and selling runescape accounts like most forums are. I like the originality and the much nicer admins here as oppose to others on other forums which i have unfortunately experienced. I understand that i may have posted my first 10 posts quite rapidly, but I am sorry for that. Frankly, I was impulsive; all i wanted was to get to the scripts. But after I saw some of the nice topics and questions on this forum, I decided to answer some, and help some other people, and even give my personal opinion. So please accept this as an apology, and take your time making me a junior SRL member, I'll wait, as long as I'm here. Thank you.

I compliment you on some well written rules. Especially the description of leechers and how you plan to prevent them. This post or dont advance thing is a good idea and should ultimately help against the leeching problem.

Post at your discretion, stop and consider if it is relevant to the topic of the post, or needless SPAM..I.E. " lol, cool, etc etc etc"…But generally 2-4 months should be the limit.

to be able to access the junior member scripts you must have been registered for 10 days and have a post count of 10

lol not 2 sound gay or anything, but ethics is based and developed based on the influences of where u live and stuff like that, so technically even though some people may find macroing unethical but other wont so i think this should kinda be clarified a bit of what this forum finds unethical, srry 2 be picky about words but i spent a semester learning this useless stuff for IB

Leeches are what makes a cheating community. If no one leeched you'd never have anyone testing your content or viewing your ads. SRL would never have developed into what it is today and your hosting bills would come out of pocket. Even if the leechers come off as immature or annoying at times, they help. You really can't force people to participate.

Yes, you are completely right. But with leechers we mean the "downloads scripts and leave" guy. That kind of people doesn't view ads, he does test the content but won't post unless he fails to set it up. Ofcourse we aren't against the people who come here, use scripts and provide feedback, post proggies, but don't script themselves :)

Before you start asking questions it would be best if you use the Search option to find unanswered questions before posting.

Anyways, yes you must post 10 "useful" posts and have had the account for 7 full 24hour days (1 Week).

Be sure not to give spam posts to get your pots count up; you might have your Post Count reset to 0 if you are repeatedly found doing so. But I am sure you read the rules so you should know most of what ive said.

This is coming up because as it says, "your user account may not have sufficient privilages". You must not be a Junior Member on the forum yet; or if you are one, then you must be required to be a (Full) SRL Member to qualify to view that page.

Once you are a Jr then it might work; if not then earn your way to become a SRL Member.

I am pretty sure that you are not allowed to "advertise" or provide promotional links to other sites on here (but yes, there are exceptions), but I might be wrong. I have seen a mod's sig that leads to a site that is similar to yours (its a promotional offer, its free, and it doesnt have anything to do with SRL).

You should be fine, but personally, I wouldn't take the risk without proper confirmation.

Its automatic BUT I think you have to be registered here for 10 days AND have 10 posts BUT you can only like get 10 posts in week (maybe that changes once ur a junior not fully sure on that though)

As I understood, person who wants to apply for SRL member should create threadwith voting ability. Thread should contain his script(s). Where that thread should be created? Thanks for info in adnvance.

Does the script you submit with your Members application have to be a brand new one (ie unseen by human eyes) or can it be one that you have nurtured from the cradle (along with it's bad standards not to mention poor coding) through the First Scripts level, from where it then, presumably matures to adult status - able to stand alongside other scripts of it's ilk - and hopefully a successful members application to boot ?

Also, do these scripts then make it out of the public domain into protected status - or do they stay in the public domain - having served their purpose.

the script can be new or old, as long as you have written it completely by yourself

and the script can be left out for the public if you want or you can move it to members, its up to you

It's requesting that pople not have post signatures that are huge, larger than the post that they are publishing.

The post that you quoted from Dunceiam was 6 lines long, if he has a signature that was another 6 lines a good chunk of the page would be taken up and people reading would have to cycle through more pages for less information.
