Windows Explorer.exe Crashes (Serious Help Plz)

So for the past 4 days, I have been mind boggled by this.

I CAN NOT ACCESS 'MY COMPUTER' or if i plug in my USB flash drive it will not open.

Anything that has to do with 'Windows Explorer' instantly freezes and does not load.

Like this

(The reason it has this picture is because 'Windows Explorer' froze with that background.

Anyways I tried to do windows recovery with it and it did not work.

I tried to reformat it, but it does not even want to execute upon bootup.

So something is definitively corrupt.

I do not know what to do anymore. I can start google chrome just fine, and run simba, and play WoW and Skyrim. Just cant have access to my computer or even change my background -.-

I scanned with MaleWareBytes and nothing came up.

I scanned with Avira and nothing came up.

I have access to CMD but I do not know what to do with CMD.

I also have TeamViewer so if anyone wants to take a look at whats going on they can drop me a PM.

I'm literally fustrated with this.

I have Windows 7 64-bit, and I know all you Linux users are going to be like "Well that's your first problem right there"

-.-

Frustrated and Annoyed so don't troll me.

Do you have a hard time opening any types of files? A relative of mine had a similar problem, and they couldn't install or run any programs (it was a virus.).. EXE's were unrecognized, as well as tons of various other common file extensions.

If so, I'm almost positive it's a virus. If not, I'm not sure. Does it eventually load at all? Try using a different file explorer. Like, go to imageshack and try uploading a photo, and see if you have a hard time navigating through your computer.

????? What is there to execute for a reformat? You ARE trying to reformat from a Windows DVD, right? Actually booting off?

If so, boot on Linux and format via there, then try reinstalling Windows after that.

Like i said i can run other programs even through the start menu. I just can't access 'My Computer' or anything like 'Control Panel' or 'Personalize my Background'

EDIT: @ Harry through USB upon bootup.

I formated my usb through my laptop to boot up, and I tested on my laptop and it goes to install windows 7. But on my desktop it won't.

Like i said I'm doing this through BOOT UP, not from dekstop.

If I did it on a DVD it will be the same thing.

And by exucte i mean the bootmng.sys or w/e its called.

my screen just hangs upon bootup.

That's weird, it shouldn't be doing that. Try nuking the entire Windows install via formatting via Linux, and then you could reinstall Windows over Linux.

Do you get any messages about missing or corrupt .DLL files when booting?

Well if you need to run explorer.exe simply open task manager (crtl+shit+esc) and click on new process and type in "explorer.exe" , and your done!

Also if you want some serious help, I would consider deleting the entire system32 folder from your disk's operation system directory most like in C:\Windows\

no need to be a dick about it. Try using the recovery cd, thatll work.

The person who suggested task manager has the most sensible reply thus far.. Explorer.exe has been doing the same to me for one of the Lazarus Install files..

It has to do with the way Explorer Cache's the files.. It's so dumb man.. I had that exact problem last night.. Task manager then End Explorer.exe Next press New Task and then type explorer.exe and it'll restart it..

If that doesn't work.. Try going into safe mode by repeatedly pressing F8 Upon boot.

As for BootMGR message.. you'd actually have to use recovery cd's for that OR use EasyBCD to fix it.

Wow i hate the fact that most of you come off as me as a retard in computers. Nevermind i even posted this thread.

I already did everything mentioned above.

The only logical reply i'll try is Harry's.

Could be a denial of service. Could be a file that makes explorer crash whenever you go to a certain folder. I happened to me once, I got rid of it by reformatting.

It's exactly like the guy above me just said.. a file makes explorer behave that way.. SOME MKV files actually do this..

You need to relax a little.. Clearly if you can open programs like simba, skyrim, whatever else.. Those applications USE Explorer to place their icons in the task bar..

sfc /scannow

If it doesn't fix the issue your computer is probably stuffed up with crap, better format and do a clean install.
Try a CD.
Those USB issues sound a bit disturbing though, let's hope it's nothing with your motherboard, since it doesn't even boot to a USB drive.

I can fix this, please PM me back with your id and pass for teamviewer.

You only really need to replace explorer.exe in your system32 because it was corrupted by a previous virus/trojan.

Also as mentioned, running sfc /scannow in a cmd window would fix the problem.

Also, to boot into your usb or dvd drive, press delete or escape or f11 or what your computer tells you to press to enter boot menu at startup of bios (or the first thing you see on your computer). Then select your respective drive/boot device.

IF you still havent fixed this I will give valuable information regarding this tpoic because I too sometimes have this problem.

If you have a bad internet connection this actually might be affecting desktop speeds, this might sound foolish but I use to have 58mbps and my explorer was quick, then I had to start stealing internet and now I get 13 mbps and sense that conversion, some of my program seem to freeze, I can deff sense that now when I open a program right after another program, of if I already have a lot of processes running, it tends to freeze up completely.
If you want to disable/stop some processes that start up on start up, or services in general that might be slowing your computer down or even hosting a virus.
Go to start/run/msconfig
After you've typed msconfig in the run box it will show you the services thare are running
and youre start up items.
When searching for malicious items, look for the manufacturer, if it says unknown I would investigate it..like look at the name of the service, if it's like random numbers of letters than it is most likly a virus, check the directory of it also.

Two ways to help you out (:
The protection that I use is PRO malwarebytes, you can easily find it via torrents like pirate bay and such. IF you need a link I will post with virus scans for you. PRO version is 10x better because then you have the ability to do flash scans, which are actually effective and only take 2 minutes.

PM me if anyone needs help via general computing.
