Reality or bluff?

It has been a while since Jagex issued the warning that botters could be fined up to $2500, but does anyone know if they ever followed up on this threat? I haven't heard much discussion on it recently or heard about anyone actually getting fined.

So it's a month and a half later, does anyone know if they followed through?

I do not believe they followed through with it. They just ban those they catch. Developers can get into legal trouble but users I believe are not subject to legal troubles.

They sue reflection bot devs/websites for breaking the law by deobfuscating runescape code and bla bla stuff.

They also (supposedly) sue GOLD FARMERS like people/groups who bot like MAD and create tons of revenue doing so.

They can't do shit to regular every day botters, It's a damn video game think about it… do you really think they could get a court of law to make us owe them any money at all for 'cheating on their video game' no, that's absurd.

Well as a refugee from powerbot, if you refer to their forums, it will inform you that one of the reasons they cant release the bot yet is because of legal issues Jagex is involved in. They are awaiting the result and are doing everything they can to not get caught themselves. The rest, well I have not heard of any cases of users being charged and no thread on the forum indicates that this has happened.

And Yohojo is correct when he indicates that only developers (as I said) and Gold Farmers (these I forgot about) are the ones in legal issues (more so the developers as Yohojo said the court case for gold farmers, as regular botters, is not very strong and a waste of money and time).

When the Whole bot nuking thing started if you had bought a bot for 'nexus' client they got all the purchased registered emails and sent email to corresponding runescape account claiming that they could sue you for a curtain amount
However i thinks its all a big bluff there are alot of people that bot and have botted

If you do not know, most likely you do not need to worry.. Why? Because it was right before the lawsuit with jagex vs impsoft or something..

They got a hold of all paypal information pertaining to the accounts that bought Impsoft bots.. Then Email each and every user warning them that their accounts have been found to have purchased such bots and they will be able to regain their accounts by BUYING it back from jagex OR that they're put on a watch list and if any more botting is found, they will be permanently banned and charged.

If you haven't gotten such an email, you don't have to worry I guess lol. It was a scare tactic really.. They actually put some 'Law/copyright' infringement acts in the email which scared some users that knew shit all about laws.

Yeah since they develop the bot Jagex can slam them with the law since they are doing illigal things by deobfuscating the runescape client. Most/all reflection bots are not/will not come back because of legal issues from Jagex.

As for botters, they can't do anything to us.

They mostly used that as a threat/scare tactic because they have definitely been more interested in going after the bigger fish.

To add on to this, they have also been targeting gold farmers for having "RS" in their domain names and forcing them to change on the basis of alleged copyright infringement.

That's absolute twaddle. They don't have a release because they are unable to crack the new client…not because they are afraid of legal issues.

PyroRyan says otherwise :/, and that legal issues is exactly the reason why he is no longer doing so. And PyroRyan seems to know his refelction shiz, don't ask me though!

Yes I've heard the same as YoHoJo. Don't worry, Harry, I agree though, alot (or "a lot" for you YoHoJo <3) of the bot developers who keep saying they'll have theirs up and running but then out of the blue delay it more honestly never had it even close to working, they're just afraid of looking bad and/or losing customers.
