RandomWalker?

Just thought this might be cool to use along with that online thing to reset your players. If you bump into a random it sends ur username and pass to the website, someone solves the random and they earn a point for having solved the random, so that in turn ppl can solve randoms for u…. obvious security threat tho..

Would be cool to have such a system, but it would be hard to make..

The link is for RandomTool that N!ke made (I believe). onRandomEvent := @sound+popup;

If 'FindNormalRandoms' results just when a random event is detected then why not do this?

if FindNormalRandoms then
PlaySound(ScriptPath+'Alert.wav');
//Maybe a wait to give the user a chance to solve it manually before SRL takes over?

Cus that's what the other thread is talking about. Im talking about having other people solve randoms for you when you can't ;)

You'd have to trust other people with your account information. Which as we've seen we can't do sometimes and also that other users who are new will point blame for something happening when it does(because with this system someone will do it eventually) at Staff for not managing it. I believe that having the ability for users themselves to do the randoms is much better.

Well, I'm still not autoing so I'm in no rush whatsoever. But this could easily be set up with a trust system, such as SSRL+, buddies etc.

SSRL has been pretty dead for a while we are just getting people moving again but most of them are working on their own side projects. I don't foresee you getting SSRL+ to sit behind a computer screen to solve randoms on other peoples accounts. Most people in SSRL+ program as a hobby. Not really to program for RS. In fact most SSRL+ probably don't even play RS anymore. Thus it comes down to the buddies system but this also would come down to who'd willingly sit behind a computer screen solving random all day for someone else.

So pretty much an updated version of the SleepWalker concept from AutoRune?

I would prefer that we just work on solving the randoms outright.

I think if anything we should just implement a system to send a warning message to irc or whatever when a random is detected. It would then be up to the user to pair with a "buddy" and figure out their own situation.

As would I, and I'm sure many others. The problem being the 'we' you're talking about here doesn't seem to like working on solvers, besides a select few.

BraK told me to come poke holes.

Honestly don't see the need. If it's about uber long progress reports, have remote method of resetting; if it's about being "undetectable", I don't think there's been a link established between failure to complete randoms and bannage; if it's about how much wood a wood chuck could possibly chuck if a wood chuck could chuck wood, then try turning it off and on again.
