Can we get something like this for SRL:

(Except on our be able to see actual location (like city, not actual address) and username for each dot.)

Or just have a thread with a link in which people can post their username/location. (As in is there some website or app or something in which we can do this and just have a link to in a thread).

I believe some thread had a link to something like this before.


Would be cool to see our distribution, who lives where, etc etc.

I WANT THIS. I can only imagine how spread out we are. I wonder about the bulk amount of people from the Netherlands.

Yeah das cool, but idk if that shows username/city. I think it just puts dots on map so it's just visual representation.

I'm bumping this. Hobbit I see you browsing the forums; do you have any opinion towards this? I for one think it would be really neat to have a map of the our SRL community across the world. Have you or any of the admins discussed this idea much?

It doesn't even have to be VB or Forum linked.
I'm sure there are websites in which we can add ourselves and just put a name/city/state, that would be nice.

The suggestion popped back into my head and I remember you making a thread suggesting it, so I did some digging to find it.

I might browse around and see if there's a separate website we could use to create this, and then just put an official link (with permission of course) here on Villavu.com.

Plugins are more of a Wizzup decision, and my guess he'd say no.

Anyone fraking now of any way we can do this.
There have to be tons of sites with nice little ways to make this happen. I tried googling but I failed.

I googled "Forum member map"
and basically came up with a whole bunch of custom Google Maps

Couldn't we just create a custom google map, and make it public? Have people pin their location?

Maybe I'll add a bit on how to add yourself… later though, I have to go eat.

There is a tutorial built into google that walks you though it actually ;] and it works, just took a few minutes to update is all!

It's not difficult. Click "Edit" (be logged into Google before loading page), click the little bubble thing next to the hand in the upper left corner of map, then click somewhere on map, edit the description in popup, click save on page.
