Making an Abyss Script

I need some advice on how to handle the Abyss (for Runecrafting). I remember Icefire i had once and it worked quite well without reflection (i think) and i need it as reference and the how he was able to manipulate the abyss.

Agh yeah… getting from the outer ring to the inner ring is, by far, the hardest part. You could make a SPS map for the abyss, start walking in a certain directly (just a little bit at a time) and just keep constantly checking for the appropriate colors for the obstacle you want to cross to get to the inner ring. Once in there SPS can surely help you get to the right rift you want to enter.

Hope that springs some ideas.

Yup thanks. I think SPS is by far the best choice for both problems. Imma start working.

Edit 2: Am I right in saying SPS only works when camera is facing north? This could make finding the obstacles tough as well.

Edit: Very embarrassed. Didn't read Flights post right about making your own SPS map.

However, looking through my sps folder there is not one for the abyss so this could be problematic.

Possibly, since usually using the abyss you use the mining, agility, thieving or the one which does not. I believe each of these have its own uptext something like mine down or sneak past. Make a function for each and I *think* you'd be good to go. However, without SPS walking would be difficult.

I'm thinking use radial walking combined with angle changes to be able to constantly walk in the circle of the outer ring.

Judging by this map
http://www.tip.it/runescape/images/maps/abyss.png

I think the distances remain semi constant so something like radial walk to from one obs to another and test the function out for them. Got a little bit excited when I saw this thread :)

I'm still a beginner but I'd love to be involved in the development of this.

Quite possibly the most challenging thing I've done is write that function that could walk in the abyss. It used the non black color in 180 different angles and compared them all to find the longest one and then made sure it was in the same direction as the last one. It just goes to show you don't need SPS or reflection or opengl to do something. Just enough will and endurance to find a way. All the source is still here http://code.google.com/p/rcrb/ but I haven't updated it in a while. I'm going to update/revamp this script sometime hopefully. Good luck with whichever method you choose to do it, it will be interesting to see what the end result is.

Yeah you're right about that. I looked over your rune-crafter in the past and at that time it was beyond my knowledge to understand how you handled the abyss. I figured you looked for the percentage black of what each quadrant of the MM was and, depending on your camera angle, that would give you, atleast, a good idea of where you were located. And if you knew where you were located you knew where to walk next and which side of the screen to be looking for your 'obstacle colors'.

Maybe now that I know a little better how things work I'd like to look over your abyss crafter just to see how it's done.

Nah it never knew where you were located, only where you needed to go.

Thank you Wanted, before anything else i should start plotting how this should even work before coding. You've given me some relatively good ideas that i will continue to extend to.

EDIT:

It appears there are no maps for the Abyss, Jagex doesnt show it in their maps and i googled for a original map but its all edited, etc.

Maybe try going into the abyss into the inner ring and open up the world map. Might be able to get something from that

Each time you enter the abyss the entrance obstacles change position. They're dynamic everytime.

Right but they're a similar distance apart each time so walking from obstacle to obstacle until you find which one should be possible with that map
