You should definitely check it out.
It's currently free, developers say that there will be a performance update and that's going to be the last free version. It's quiet a new game.
Now about the game: you build a rocket out of given parts, you can set the stages yourself, then do whatever you want with it.(preferably try to reach orbit, then the Mun, then back to Kerbin)
Imo it's pretty well done in terms of what level of realism I want to see in a game(at least what is implemented so far as I said it's new, they say there will be much more things) like this.
If you do decide to try it than check out their forums for mods too, there are much, much more parts than the stock ones.
Personally I haven't tried any mod yet, because I want to make it to the Mun than back with stock parts first and I haven't got enough time to do it just yet. I did made it the the Mun once though, but my current build is not enough to make it back.
Current version(only version I tried, just fount the game myself too) is annoyingly laggy however. I am really waiting for the next release.
If that is a good release and they solve the lagging I might consider to buy it. Not a game that you play through once then you are done with it. New ideas for rockets always comes(and parts to support that).
Haha, once I got into orbit around the Sun … never made it back, poor guys.

There are tutorials about speeds, and heights, but I thought I will figure those out myself. That was the outcome.
protip: If you see the middle guy, Jebediah, not smiling/having fun, press esc and end the flight, he is always happy, but when not than you screwed up.
