reflection botting.

Will reflection botting come back or is it gone forever..?
If so does that mean we will not have as advanced and complex bots as there were before. And just have to use colour bots..?

Color will advance over time. I know this is a new concept to you seeing as how you joined in November, after the previous bots you used were busted, but we're now focusing all our attention purely to advancing in color. We've come a long, long ways in just these last few months and we can only grow from here.

If you wanna be a part of it now's the best time to get involved.

Reflection is Gone, it may come back but it will take a lot of work.
Color scripts can be just as advanced as reflection scripts are.

Color bots (in most aspects) can be/are just as good.
But I will say yes refelction is much more accurate and easy to code somethings (like certain randoms and a dungeoneering scripts) are VERY HARD/Impossible with color, sorry.

Anyways, from what I've heard from PyroRyan many reflection bots will not be coming back, some might, but Jagex has found some new laws/ways to sue people who develop reflection bots and not many people are willing to take the risk to develop and distribute reflection bots based on the fear of being sued.

Some people are working on OpenGL bots, they are in very beta stages and not released/have websites yet, but Jagex can just remove the OpenGL option from runescape to stop that :p.

Basically, color is what you got, use it, enjoy it, learn to script, make your own, be happy. Color never has (and as far as I can see), never will die!:stirthepot:

Hmm can you explain to me what is this OpenGl thing, i thought it was just a graphic's option. And about laws and legal actions, can we really be sued for botting..?

Jagex has already sued 1000's people, they have an open case in California Joe Doe Vs Jagex (With over 1000+ names) I am sure 99% of them won't go through but the big botters will go down

YoHoJo

2011-12-10 22:11:51

Um yes, it's happened many times in the past.
Many refelction sites were either taken down permanatly, or remporraily and the devs had to pay a lot of $.

YES reflection developing can get you sued because (Sorry I'm no java pro but basically) when developing reflection are you obfuscating and altering/using the runescape code which you're not even allowed to be seeing/using because it belong to Jagex.

Tons of 'regular' games use OpenGL and have openGL bots for them. It's just (I think?) a way to render stuff, and by using the OpenGl option you are able to do bla bla hacky hack stuff in order to 'label' everything rendered and therefore use it to bot.

Not much more to say about that, and like I said a few are being worked on, but are nowhere close to completion or anything, nor are there any websites to get them, just some threads with talk/progress about them.

They don't sue to do anything to botters….
They sue the actual CREATORS of the bot since they are the ones doing the illegal stuff. Using a bot is never illegal as far as I know, but screwing with the rs code/making bots is. (Reflection bots that is, nothing at all is illegal about color ones)

hmm this is the message jagex was sending out to peoples hotmail accounts/runescape mailbox's.

Dear Player,
We have strong evidence that you may have purchased and used botting software in the past, specifically ibot software.
Botting and the cheating it brings is destroying your game, violates Jagex's rights under the Digital Millennium Copyright Act (DMCA), and any player that continues to engage in botting activity has no place in our community.
As part of bot nuke week we are offering you a 1 time amnesty and settlement lifeline, which is a chance to reform and change your ways. We'd like you to contribute to the community in a positive way, to compete on a level playing field as everyone else does and play in the true spirit of the game, with integrity. All of your accounts, main and otherwise, are now on our watch list and will be monitored for the use of ibot and all other inappropriate third-party software. Regardless of who you are or how long you've been with us, if you decide to cheat and bot ever again we will have no hesitation in: (1) permanently removing your account from our wonderful community in order to protect Jagex's rights under the DMCA, and (2) naming you as a defendant in Jagex Limited v. John Does, which is a lawsuit based on DMCA violations that is currently pending in the U.S. District Court for the Central District of California (Civ. Action No. SACV11-00969-CJC).
Please note that this amnesty and settlement offer is protected under Fed. R. Evid. 408. If you ignore our offer and instead continue use botting software, we reserve our rights to pursue statutory damages against you for between $200 to $2,500 per act of past, present, and/or future botting in accordance with 17 U.S.C. 1203©(3).
We do hope you make the morally sound and lawful choice of turning your back on bots. We look forward to seeing you in game having fun in a way that is true to the spirit of fair play and respectful to your fellow players.
Yours sincerely, Mark Gerhard

Eh no clue if that's real or not, where did you find that/what email address did it come from?
Tons of people send out fake Jagex impersonation emails

Anyways, we don't need to worry about to deal with stuff like that to let's leave talk/scare like that to the ibot people etc.

I would say that reflection is gone forever.
The main target of the ClusterFlutterer was reflection, of course they were hit the hardest.
Even RSBuddy which uses injection had to shut down. They weren't even the main target of this.

RSBuddy didn't solely use injection. It was actually way more reflection, which is why it got messed up. After that, the owner had a "change of heart" about botting and what it does to the game, and decided to not update the client and convert the website to strictly a RS Fan Site.

For what it's worth, I also received that message and never once goldfarmed. I did however own 20+ Nexus/iBot auths. I know others that received that message as well and claimed to have never goldfarmed. I don't think we ever really got a straight answer, but there was a lot of speculation that Nexus maybe released the Paypal accounts used to purchase auths to Jagex. Or that Jagex had potentially found some way to detect users using Nexus.

Jagex is currently suing Nexus right here in my home state. I hadn't actually heard of individual users being targeted with lawsuits until now.

Jagex actually got the emails directly from PayPal after they got court permission to demand those emails from PayPal. Pretty unrespectable move from Jagex I would say.

Companies with money always get what they want.

As for reflection, I really don't think it's coming back. Also, wasn't RSBuddy injection?

No. RSBuddy used reflection though they advertised it as a non-reflection bot. Complete bs. Whenever updates happened with RSBuddy, and the client was outdated, it would say "Reflection is outdated", or something among the lines… Can't be more obvious than that.

hmm OpenGL interception looks pretty good? i saw a thread created in 2009 i think talking about it but it never developed? people went with reflection but isnt OpenGL interception similar to reflection? anyways Color is just as good as anything… Us "humans" use color so dont reli see why bots cant ^^ it'd be bit harder than reflection but lots of advances in color methods are showing up ^^ anyways OpenGL can be the new "Reflection botting" lol

edit: [OGL] Interception thread was made "01-24-2010, 03:27 AM " does it still work?

Don't worry, reflection/injection will be reborn. Meanwhile use the best what you can, Colour bot. We aren't 2% now, but 10%. There are plenty bot companys, I'm sure they're trying to fix their reflection/injection bot. If they manage to fix it (wich will take them about 1-2year) we can take over their reflection bot.

I'm not sure if it's only the scripts currently, or maybe the public ones just aren't as good, but for me color botting is as effective as back in 2006 when I useed SCAR. However, considering how much runescape has advanced, it's a very big advancement for color bots!
Having used SCAR back in 2006 and ACtools for various games I'm considering to start learning some scripting for Simba myself.

Reflection bots are remained in a silent state due to the brothers lawyer told them to be quite. So no one really knows. I have a feeling after the case is fully settled they will be back. But thats going to be a while.

Nothing is impossible, Jagex used the method obfuscation. For a reflection/injection bot to be-working you will need to find the hooks. Hooks are things wich analyse the game, wich reads your skill exp, ID,…
Jagex has hide these hooks, Jagex made it harder to read but not impossible. Once all the hooks have been found they can make an auto-hook-updater, wich finds the hooks for you if this happends no obfuscation will work. Jagex isn't changing their hooks, just hiding it. Yes they change every 6-24 hours, but this isn't new hooks they're just like always changing. For loading the client I don't know much, they've been using an rsapplet or something else but they say it's easy to fix it (something with 0 and 1). In the last weeks Jagex have been putting more and more obfuscation. And the last update wasn't just an update, but it came from Jacmob that genius boy. He used the method obfuscation on NCP ID's. As result it's harder for AIO combat bots to read the ID of the monsters. And Jagex is doing this, so all reflection/injection bot client will be pushed to progress 0. Scripters are able to fix the client, they're just lazy ass. Example, Jagex made update on 1 January. The developer have managed to get the client up on 21 January, meanwhile Jagex is able to create more obfuscation and anti-bot updates. If it's 21 January, the client wont work cause of Jagex new update. Developers need to work hard, or others they will keep fixing it for years and still not working :norris:.

Hooks/paths are changing since they have different jars.
Overflows obfuscation still doesn't change the fact that the IDs remain the same/static. Yes the field's value changes. A map could be used to determine the actual value. They've essentially stopped adding new obfuscation. If anything, reflection/injection is dying because of legal issues rather than anything related to the client.
If you're interested in a lawsuit, by all means keep trying to make a reflection/injection bot. Otherwise, its time to move on.
