No Autoresponder?

Might be posting this in the wrong forum, if so, I'm sorry.

I was just wondering, does Simba have any kind of autoresponder?

Have you searched for one? Legitimately looked for 3 or more minutes? Yes there have been autoresponders, but they're generally not used.

I did in fact look around the forums for quite a while, and read the FAQ. But I kind off assumed it were included, and I had just failed to get it working.

Anyways, thanks for your reply, cleared it up for me :)

Not built into Simba or SRL no, but many people have developed their own in the past you can search for and try to reimplement and add/use them in scripts if you want.
I've been botting for years and never used one and been just fine.

Okedoke. There might still be one in cautoresponder.scar in SRL (idk if its called exactly that). Its needs setup but I've heard it does work. Also people have made other ones, but they never really got off the ground.

Hmm, I guess I'll look into that when I'm more routined at coding! Thanks!

Hmm, I just assumed you would get banned for not responding to people..

Pff they would not BAN you just for not responding.
For all they know you could speak another language, or just not feel like talking to people.

Oh okay, I just assumed not responding would result in them reporting me for botting, which would in the end result in a ban… :duh:

It's possible yeah, no responding might = a report from someone and reports make jagex suspicious, but I've never been banned in my many years of botting and never responding.

Yeah, anyone who can come up with a very accurate and working one is a god.

Which? Coding an autoresponder? :(

You could just solve it in a Coldfeet-esque manner and have botters responding for each other while online in exchange for response credits.

Sleep walker idea. It's been thought of before but never gained any traction.

Not to mention, those using auto-responders are much more likely to get banned than those without.

Idea: what if we made the responders respond in an really obscure language that most people on RS are unlikely to know? Like Gailic or Swahili or Stö:lō ?

Jagex may become curious as to why a portion of their user base suddenly began speaking Swahili.

Haha, Mods being "Wtf".

Suddenly the Swahili speaking userbase increased by 500% overnight.

Yes but it'll be do few and far between I think it could scrape by. Just reply once when people say your name for x amount of minutes. I think the legits would buy it enough not to report.

I think the problem is guessing if there speaking to you or someone else

Well, in cases where there are more people, it's easy to blend in.

But when at a distant spot, and 1 guy is talking to you, and you're the only ones around, it would be optimal if the bot could atleast reply to "Wc level?" I recall some decent scripts back a few years, for scar, which just had around 15 variations to reply to the question about a skill level. "45, u? "45, and you?" "45" "45… U?" etc…

That's why you look for you username. Plus if its in a different language it really doesn't matter because they will have no clue what you are talking about :)

I think I might work on making a multilingual autoresponder over the christmas break….

Could you potentially add like, various reactions/moods that could be applied randomly?

For instance, if the question were "What is your WC level?" the bot could choose randomly between a few responding means, and perhaps even add a random universal noun or adjective to the ending sentence, to improve randomness.

For instance

"My woodcut is 45, (hehe)" (The hehe would be one of those random words that could be added randomly.

I will use the Swahili, just because that's awesome.

Random idea: Make an include that chose a random language at setup (But not a language like English of course) which it will choose to respond in with random sentences grabbed (parsed) off a random sentence maker you've found on Google :o

Jagex would take a hint from the sudden influx of Swahili speakers.
