My Retirement as MSI Leader
Coh3n

This is something I've been thinking about for a very, very long time, and now that I've patches all reported bugs, I think now is as a good of time as any to announce my retirement. It's definitely not an easy decision, but I feel it's right. I have put A LOT of time into this project over the last year and a half. I've had moments when I want to throw my computer across the room, and moments when everything has gone exactly as I planned. I don't regret one minute of it. :)
Why are you retiring?
Well, simple. Now is a good time, and for a long time now I've lost interest in scripting for RS. I like the idea of developing an include as a resource for "next-generation" scripters, but maintaining such a huge script is stressful, very time consuming, and overall not worth it to me anymore.
What are you going to do now?
Don't worry, I'm not leaving SRL. Far from it, actually. I plan on taking on the leadership roll for further development of the SRL include (it's not an explicit leadership, but someone needs to make sure everything goes as planned ;)). Who knows, maybe I'll end up writing a small script in the future.
What's going to happen to MSI?
Well, it is and was always intended to be a community project, so you tell me. A very stable base has been created, tutorials written, and plans laid out. It's in a perfect state for people to get involved. I'll continue to post on the forums, and give my input, but as far as actual development, I won't be around much, if at all.
There is no one at SRL that knows more about MSI then myself. To future developers - don't be afraid to ask me questions. I'll be more than happy to explain anything you wish to hear.

I think that's about it, feel free to ask any questions or make any comments. :)

Love you and all of the hard work you have done.
I as well as the SRL community all understand how hard you have worked on this and how many countless hours you have put in. You have done a damn great job getting MSI started, rolling, and running smoothly (as well as all of the other MSI devs, but we all know Cohen was the heart of it!).
I'm excited to see your work and tweaks on the include and the forum itself, as well as any future scripts you might make.
Remember everyone MSI is a TEAM PROJECT anyone can read the tutorials, ask questions, and found how you RIDICULOUSLY EASY it is to add your own scripts to MSI, so go for it!
Remember guy's it's MSI Phoenix cohen may have 'died' but we shall all rise from his ashes!!!!

So who will take lead?
NCDS? I know he doesn't have much time either :x
Any nominees?

Sad to hear, buddy, but it is your decision, and is best for you. Thank you for all of your time and dedication you have put into M.S.I., and this community. Without you as the M.S.I. leader, we wouldn't' be where we are today. I can't wait to see how SRL advances with you taking a prominent role at the helm.

Everyone is MSI! Anyone can do it!
Make a git account, make a fork, read tuts, push, pull, bla!
Someone can teach you it all, and I think tutorials for it all are already made!

I know that YoHoJo but I'm talking about leadership, there is always a lead developer for any project to make sure it continues to grow and maintain its stability. I feel that MSI will lose development :S

O I C. Yeah.
It does help to have a lead guy at top you're right, we will just see if anyone will take on the role, it should be okay for a while without one though but mhm mhm.

I think that if the time feels right, might as well take it. I'll be asking you lots of questions in the future, since I still want to script for MSI. I can only do it on weekends now, and some throughout the week, but I really don't have time.
I'm ready to help anyway that I can :) You've done great work Coh3n!

Such a sad moment for MSI :( Coh3n always kept me up to date with the threads about when MSI was updated and what bugs were fixed. Now i'll have to look at boring GIT and check the updates my self :(
Coh3n, you were an excellent leader for this project MSI has came a long way because of you and everyone else who helped developed MSI.
We all contributed whether it was constant bug reports or just suggesting possible fixes for MSI. You were always there for everyone's questions about a problem with MSI, and I'm sure you still will. Just not as active and mind set on MSI as before :/
We love you Coh3n, and I hope that MSI continues to grow from this day.
Whoever takes lead development, you already have my 100% support.

You've created quite the masterpiece, Coh3n. The community is and always will be in your debt, you've done a fantastic job with it all. I can say, however, I'm very relieved to hear your retirement is limited to only MSI and not in general. Luckily I read on from that point. ;)
A toast to you, Mr Cohen!
Thank you for your dedication, Coh3n. I never personally used MSI but you were, obviously, very dedicated to making sure everything was running smoothly and to the why it should be.
I'm glad you aren't leaving SRL itself.
That looks
sooooooooooooo good right now.

Woah! I know I'm a Newfag, but I've been reading your tutorials in the development section a since I first came here a couple days ago, and through browsing the forums I really see that you're a huge part of this community (not just the development side of things). I want to say thankyou for giving me something to occupy myself with, and I know I also owe that thanks to many others that work in the background. I'm more than impressed, Inspired you might say.

Thanks for the foundations you have laid;
I for one am slowly starting to learn how to script using colour based scripting and i will keep on learning and hoepefully be able to fill but a millionth of a portion of what yuo did.
Pssh he's just being lazy :p jk
Hopefully we will see a new era for MSI with some of the new scripters we are getting. Such a promissing lot.

So long, and thanks for all the fish.
In all seriousness, sad to see you step down, glad to see you're not leaving.
You have done great work mate. It's time to users start doing their part too.

Was the saddest PM I've ever received. :(
I'll be talking to you later either on IRC or PM about the whole "leadership" thing. Regardless, MSI is certainly not going to die off.
Glad to see you switch over to more SRL development though. I've enjoyed myself quite a bit since I did actually, though it looks like it's time to switch back.

Haven't had a chance to meet you, but after a day on the forums I've seen a lot of quality contributions from yourself.
I know the feeling of becoming rung out from a specific type of programming, the good side is there's countless different fields so I hope you find one that you enjoy again.

This should have a bright side for most people. While he's retiring from MSI he'll be moving on to the development of SRL instead. This is great IMO. I really, really look forward to see what changes he brings to the table. ;)
It's a real shame to see you leave, you've contributed so much to the community and you're a great guy, I hope you succeed in all future ventures!

You've created an amazing thing with MSI and it will be long lived, you must be very proud of it. There is also no one better to take over as leader than NCDS
Your an amazing guy who helped me out a lot with my runecrafter, which I will be coming back to revamp when I have the time.
I'm glad you will still be around as this place would be lost without you because you didn't just create MSI you've be a really good admin and it was a good choice making you one.
Happy retirement buddy :D

So Coh3n, I've been gone for a while, but when I left, never did I imagine such a script as this. Great job with all your work, and great job to all the others who helped with MSI! This is a marvel to look at, a real coding masterpiece :)
