RS Fan Site Opinions towards Botting

I don't know if anyone here follows any fansite forums like tip.it or zybez.

Some of them have threads about botting and the nuke, they have hilarious insults for us without knowing anything about the color botting community. I find it quite funny.

Well, I have just toured parts of f2p and not surprisingly bots are back….. Not an epidmeic yet but ffs these pixel-based bots are making a vengeance of a comeback and jagex is again failing to stem the tide. It really should not be h ard to detect these bots…if jagex just tries harder. Fire your bot banning peeps and hire competent folks…if necessary.

jagex said in QAs shortly after botbuster a screenscraping/colour bot breaking update was in the works. Give them time, its not like these rubbish bots can do half as much as the old ones and they aren't widespread at all.

I think what we should take away from this is that the part of the RS community that remains is mostly legit and will report bots on sight, unlike the pre-nuke community (from my experience).

Also I find it funny that the "color-busting" updates were the dynamic item sprites and the ChooseOption break, which have easily been overcome.

Thoughts?

It really just annoys me reading all of these kinds of pots from kids who know not a damn thing. I see them on official RS forums as well as on fan site forums. I hate seeing them I hate reading them, they are just stupid kids blabbering about what the assume they known about bots when they know not a damn thing. It just makes me really annoyed and pissed off inside reading them! :p

As long as we don't abuse the game to certain degrees and not infest Runescape with bots and stick to our norms like the way we always have in the past, we should be safe.

Yeah they said they have more tricks up their sleeves. Dynamic colors are overcome by simple tolerance allowance. Dynamic shapes are overcome by DDTMs.

If they change the colors too much then no matter what tolerance we cant find em. But i think the amount of leechers coming here is also contributing to the problem, and i don't want mass bots to be back in the game.

Too much of a color change will make it impossible even for humans to tell the difference between some objects/npcs/items. If they go too far the legit players aren't going to be too happy with it.

I'm really hoping all the gold farmers with 1000 accounts aren't going to start using things like MSI etc..

You are hoping..we all are hoping that those goldfarmers don't use MSI, otherwise we would take much in sight. And that could bring us the end…

As long as we are not the source of abuse we should not worry :)

I am just hoping other color based communities are not starting up a ruckus and releasing a bunch of "legit" spots etc. (This is when the REAL rs players get mad and rant on the forums)

Perhaps for money making scripts make a limit to the number of accounts that can be running the script at one said time; Not really sure how to implement

Is there any way to tell if a single source is using a large amount of…say…MSI scripts at once? I'm fairly certain nobody here wants to see someone leech to the degree of gold farming, and if it is possible to detect that, shut down contact with the source.

Even though I agree with cutting off gold farmers, I don't think we *can* cut them off because of the open source.

PatDuffy

2011-12-06 21:57:30

Ahh.. that thought did come into my head, but I was almost hoping otherwise just to have the ability to cut them off. Oh well, it was just a thought that it might be possible anyway.

Why not request scripts with potential to gold farm be SRL member only? Flight has his nature crafter but only publicly releases a lite version. It'll certainly keep some gold farmers away from here, and hopefully other communities feel the same about gold farming.

I agree, SRL should probably limit the number of scripts that non-members have, I also do not want to see gold farmers make a comeback. Also, this would encourage people like me to become more involved in the community.

There are over 70,000 members of this forum, it makes sense that there are probably some gold farmers hiding within the ranks.

ye, it's amusing good to still know they haven't stopped us "botters" yet.

I would definitely second that motion. It would certainly decrease the amount of gold farming script users.

As long as we maintain as a responsible group of script users we should have nothing to worry about.

Direct Quote from JacMob:
Cluster Flutterer Continued

As you most likely know, some botting sites have attempted to explain what 'cluster flutterer' is and how they plan to get around it. In addition they have tried to explain the point behind some security updates to the RuneScape client and why they are "easy to get around". Unfortunately for them, they have missed the point entirely on both of these updates, and are in for some surprises. This is, of course, not surprising, but I thought I'd mention a bit of what's really in store for December!

Over the course of December, when bots believe they are 'getting closer' to releasing their updates, RuneScape will see some new internal updates. This isn't just a new cluster flutterer, but a whole new set of problems for botting clients that will send 'update' progress back to 0. This process will continue and worsen over time as bot developers fall further and further behind their desired release dates. That's not the end of the story. I anticipate that even the 'theoretical working bot' will begin to cause mass account bans over the next few updates, with much more rigorous detection methods. This will apply even to those silly 'screen scraper' bots that can't really do much anyway.

Finally, I urge you to stay alert for exciting updates from Jagex on legal proceedings. That's it for the specifics I can mention, so continue to enjoy a bot-free rs, take note of Jagex's great releases, and I look forward to hearing your feedback on our releases before Christmas!

Very possible, but they made good on their last threat http://villavu.com/forum/showthread.php?t=63385

MSI wouldn't be too profitable for gold farming. It's 2-3X heavier to run than the other bots, RSBUDDY, Nexus, etc. :f:

Our MSI Project isn't flawless, nothing wrong with that, it is just that since we are color base , it is quite hard to solve these Randoms.

If it were up to me I'd say we need to put less time into new scripts and more time into working on anti-randoms. NCDS can lead the way!

I don't know how they might ruin pixel bots, but… maybe if they spy on your pc and grab your process list…

Which is completely and utterly illegal. If they are going through legal action to stop botters, they aren't going to break it themselves..
