Risky profiting from the "Doubling" scam

So I was crawling around world 48 today when I ran across a man machine gunning out "free money doubling legit". Another player gave him 200k and after I explained how much of a scam it was in private message and how she shouldn't do it I was told that she did it in order to make a profit because most doubling scammers only take one million and over, she managed to yank about 900k from him due to being in the high 90's I assume*sarcasm*(high level players are always loaded!?) *sarcasm*

SOOOO figuring 200k wouldn't be that much of a loss from my coffers I walked up to this alleged doubler and traded him, he traded back 400k. I had considered this before as I came to the conclusion that money doubling scammers would double small increments to gain your trust then run off when you pull out 20 million from the bank but was too scared to try.

So I told him in private chat "double this to 800k and I might get my stack of gold".

Unfortunately he didn't reply and just turned his private chat off, he had caught onto what I was doing.

TL;DR

Profiting from these scammers is risky but possible. I would suggest starting off with 50k and going to 100k, play with them trying to earn your trust.

Or just dont do it because this is an almost suicidal endeavor unless you are loaded down with millions upon millions of gold. I just figured I should share this little story but not sure where this thread would fit in.

I am going to play and keep messing with small amounts of gold to see how far I can go off of 200k. might keep a log here if its allowed. Also I feel this belongs in general because I feel this method is too suicidal for the f2p money making thread a little ways in the other section.

1:200k doubled to 400k.

Lol I have done this. It works pretty well if you are wearing like santa. Most people take 100k and log out though :p

Edit: I don't get it. Why didn't the guy just take your 400k instead of turning private off?

level 90 is not high leveled, and there are people that are big into the doubling scam. They have 5+ friends helping them and legitimately "double" their money, and then people will trade them 10m+ and they take that.

I was being sarcastic about that but the internet doesn't allow it to show.I considered the level 90 was also trying to cooperate with him that's why I kept my amount low, it is also why I suggest that you keep the amount low always.

If you play it right you can make money but if you read this and then lose 5 million then that is on you for not being ultra careful. The scammers rely on young kids who are mainly gullible due to the obvious or a genuine fool but if you can play the role of an idiot and outsmart them there is room for profits, they will just be small.

Better than nothing in my opinion and if I lost my 200k it wasn't a big loss, that was the amount I was willing to lose.

I kind of said that it was a scam out loud a bit but then I played the role of the skeptic.

Like "I think this is a scam but if you can turn X to Y then ill bring more money". I was hoping he would become gullible.

Don't trade them at all, the only reason why they continue to try to do it is because they will often just log out on the first trade, or the second if they gain your trust… either way they make a profit.

There is an interesting lure associated with the doubling scam, well a lure trade for their bank :P

I saw someone get scammed like that >.< I always feel bad after someone gets scammed.

What I do it, I trade them like 100 - 200k and then report their ass off.

If they return the money, i go down to half of what I offered, and continue doing that, that way they constantly lose money:P

its sad because the people that actually fall victims to the scam become the scammers them selves

I feel it is poetic justice.

When someone says "doubling money" I just report them right away.

I just tell them to 1 trade double, and when they say "no" I report.

If i run in to one…i trade them 100k…i get 200k back…then i trade again putting 500k…and in the second trade screen i decline and leave with a smart comment :)

Win for me :)
