SRL Archive - Banned Users

Today, the burden fell upon me to announce that our fellow developer/black market mod has been banned permanently from SRL.
In a series of unfortunate events, he took 1750m from a user and the payment could not be cleared. He has no intention of paying the $700 back, therefore he had to be banned. We are not aware of any malicious intent, but we are of the malicious outcome.

Its not that he is a scammer its because he cannot pay it off. Its really paypals fault.

As far as I understood, he didn't want to pay it off. SRL is not worth 700$ for him. Something along the lines of that. In a way I suppose I understand it, but this'll only happen if you get into the black market in general. It's called black for reason.

Why doesn't he just pay it off slowly? Either by returning GP or selling GP through botting. This seems like another Naike situation (not completely). :(

People who 'rob' things, never return them. Only when they're caught on the street/home, they are forced to return them and they are also punished. That's a fact!

It's truly very sad. Charmz was one of my idles when I first started at SRL.

Wow, that sucks. I know how it feels to get scammed, but whoever does it deserves to be banned. Period.

Second developer who chooses money over SRL. I agree with Camo.

It's not real money, but what was lost equates to/is worth money.

That's like saying "Someone got their phone stolen? At least they didn't lose any real money" or having someone mow your lawn and then not pay them.

More details would be nice. I really don't get the whole story (not that it matters, I just like a riveting tale).

I understand your point completely, but a stolen phone is on no way comparable to stolen rsgp, as the phone had been bought with money in the first place. If I had to choose between:
a) Losing a side product of an activity that I consider as a hobby of mine and enjoy doing. This product is worth nothing outside the hobby.
or
b) Losing the money that I gained while working 10h days for 2 weeks.

I would choose A, every time. This doesn't mean that I don't think this situation sucks, and that I feel bad for the guy, simply stating I'm glad he didn't lose $700 from his bank account.

The simple fact is that he didn't lose $700, he lost the time it took him to gather 1.7b rsgp. And there's a difference.

Time=Money.
It doesn't matter how you got the items/money real or virtual. You can work for it, auto it, get it as a gift/prize. In the end the GP he lost has monitory value (maybe not to you) but what he lost was worth $700 and it's gone now D:

1) his paypal being in negative balance because of chargebacks from other people
2) he himself got scammed out of x$ of amazon gift cards which he's trying to get back

So he's not paying I guess because 1) he can't due to neg paypal/doesn't have they money & he got scammed himself in the middle of all of this.

True, maybe I just don't value virtual goods that I don't "work" for as other people do. I mean if I see my bank account has only 30€ left, I don't think "well I still got 10b gp in runescape, I'm all good." But then again I've never considered doing RWT, which I might actually now think about seeing that I have stuff laying in my bank that other people are willing to pay for.

Why doesn't he just give the RS gp back? If he cared, at all, he'd give it back.

But he did basically say it's not worth $700 to him to be part of thr community.

But yeah wtf he should give GP back… Whatever big mistake because SRL is so amazing in so many ways.

Charmz was in IRC but the way he explained his story, I piece it together like this:
1) weequ sold him GP, and charmz paid paypal money for it.
2) charmz went full retard, and used that GP he bought to buy $1k worth of (fake) amazon gift cards off sythe.
3) of course, these amazon cards didn't work.
4) ???? (I have no idea what happened here)
5) Paypal was shut down, and Paypal charged back all of his most recent payments (I'd assume this is BS based on charmz' attitude, and he did chargeback manually)

His story falls apart at at #4 - there's nothing that explains why his Paypal was closed, and why Paypal charged back ALL of his most recent payments. He said something about kingarabian charging back a payment, but that wouldn't explain why all of his most recent ones were.

In either case, he refuses to affirm that the guilt is upon him for being an idiot (terrible reasoning and decision skills), and he refuses to pay back even part of the money, such as working overtime at a job - "weequ has like 50B. he will be fine". It's a shame what money does.

The same day he charged back 700$ from antti my paypal charged him back 40 dollars WITHOUT MY KNOWLEDGE. So I talked to them for a full week and they stopped it.

Can Charmz show prove that a charge back has been made and everything is frozen?

He told me he could not waste any more money by paying back if he really got scammed scammed.

If he bought cards, then yea of course the money (gp) is gone. I see no inconsistencies there.
