Nice work Sky!
Here is some criticism. :)
- Make sure to credit the people that made that capitalize function from SRL. I think it was RSN and Starblaster.
- In case you don't want the text in the combo boxes to be editable, make sure to add this:
ComboBox1.Style := csDropDownList;
- Labels for two color combo boxes. Just so it's more user friendly. Kind of annoying, when you don't know which does what.
- When you go to Tools > SCAR Editor, and it loads that Canvas that shows your desktop. It runs very slow, and when you exit out of that window, it seems like that window is still running. I looked through your code, and found that you are freeing all the windows at once. Instead, free the form right after the person exits out of the window. Otherwise if the user opened the window 5 times. It will consume 5x the normal memory and when you free the form, it will probably only free the memory used up the 5th time it was open.
Here is an example of a form being freed right after the person exited the form.
procedure InitBlahForm(Sender : TObject);
begin
SafeBlahForm;
SafeBlahShowModal;
FreeForm(Blah);
end;
- Also the Time it took to load the form is off because when it prompts you to connect/write/read any file, the user has to choose an option, and that isn't part of the form loading. So I suggest making a Time2 variable to get the GetSystemTime. Here is an example:
procedure Something;
begin
Time := GetSystemTime; // get time
Blah;
Blah2;
Time := GetSystemTime - Time; // get difference
//Create/Read File code...
Time2 := GetSystemTime;
Blah;
Blah;
Blah;
// get difference for time2 and add time
Time := (GetSystemTime - Time2) + Time;
ShowTheForm;
end;
- Seems a little weird to have Maximize/Minimize/Normal on your menu. It would be much easier just using the normal buttons.
- Once the folder has been created, and you exit the form and then start the script again, it will give you the message that it will create the folder. Instead, it can for the first time the script is run, to create the folder. Then next time, just read the file you put in there using try/except, if it works then don't show a message. If it doesn't work, then show the message again.
- "Veiw" is spelt "View". The problem is in the Top Menu.
- "Makeing" is spelt "Making". The problem is in the message saying it will make
Ideas of features:
- Checkbox to color which boxes.
- StayOnTop button to use frmDesign.FormStyle := fsStayOnTop;
- For the Address Bar. Instead of opening a webpage. How about loading the HTML from that website using the function GetPage.
Example:
procedure GetThatPage(Link : String);
var
HTML : String;
begin
HTML := GetPage(Link);
if(HTML <> '')then
// display html
else
// show error
end;
I can't think of any more at the moment, but I really like your script! Great job with it man. Oh and ty for crediting me. I don't know how I helped you cause I think I forgot to comment that section, but as long as I helped. :)
