I have no freakin idea who can read this. Fact is I can and Wizzup can and Ray can.
This will be merged into Todo file, but this one is more vague (on purpose, it defines a goal we can work to).

0.99 Target date: Mid. Feb
Lape needs to be ready to be merged into the master branch. It can be enabled by users/scripters for exhaustive testing but is not the default yet. It should be capable of compiling SRL and running simple scripts like HLR (that's a script that doesn't do too many "weird" things).
The settings.xml relocation should be implemented (GetAppConfigDir). I will do this when I'm less tired, with a bit of luck might be there in time for 0.98 but can't guarantee that.
Done
Simba will also get a decent manifest and will be able to elevate its own rights to update itself if necessary.
Hopefully we can rework the ocr a bit to make it more debug-able and usable.
Settings form will be fixed so it provides a front-end to the (now ugly) backend, which will remain because of its usefulness. Just needs to be finished up
Fix BitmapConvertor with Clipboard,
Add formatter (with JEDI), Done with Nielsie95's formatter
Fix any possible issues with portable settings due to settings-rework. Done

1.00 Target date: April, perhaps sooner.
The reason Simba was not released as 1.0, was the absent of a script manager. Simba 1.00 will fix this. The script manager will have the following capabilities:

  • Manage scripts stored on harddrive
  • Update them from remote repositories
  • User can authenticate with private repositories?
  • Add/remove scripts
  • Handle script settings/players. This must be done in a safe way, the script NEVER has a legit reason to know the password!!
  • (bytecode?)
  • And it will look good!
Simba 1.00 will have to be a stable, memorable release, just like the release of Simba 0.9 which caused an earthquake within the colour macroing community. The script manager is an important part of this.
Because of this massive interface rework, we could just add ACA-like functionality in the DTM-Editor extension along the way, or maybe to the colour picker with its colour history. It sounds great to combine the release of a feature beneficial for users with one beneficial for scripters.

1.1 Target date: September?
Simba 1.1 will fix everything Simba 1.0 hasn't. The main problem is Pascalscript, something we want to get rid off ASAP. Since Lape is already in mainline Simba since 0.99, it should have enough scrutiny by now to be a stable project.
Wizzup will also take a look at Linux now, and Simba will finally be cross-platform with the major roadblock now gone.

Moving goals
Documentation
OOP scripts
Debugging functionality for scripts
Horny writeln with colours and such (writehtmlln pl0x)
Boyer-moore-style bitmap search?
libMML (and pyMML as reference implementation)
speedup
bugfixes.

Commentz plz

Perhaps add a timeframe as to when we can expect the releases? Also, what happened to libmml?

LibMML is still being developed but not a release goal an sich, it'll be done when it's done. As for a timeframe, look at around 4-6 weeks between releases, with 0.98 being released next week.
Wizzup: I added dates.

Cool. Shorter release cycle than I had imagined for sure. :p

This looks very interesting and may well clean up my computer of all the random Scripts in odd folders I have.

Personally when I joined I felt more at ease that a script had my Password as it was open source and easily available for me to look at.

Perhaps I worry too much but might Simba gain some negative publicity if it starts storing passwords instead of in the scripts themselves? Just a thought.

1.0 sounds very promising!
Good luck.
