6 Hour Runescape Dead Thing

YoHoJo

2011-11-10 00:10:01

So um, what exactly goes on after 6 hours of autoing?

Does Runescape just not load anymore, or when you try to login does it say that RS has been updated, or that you can no longer log in or what?

Does this only happen when you auto the 6 hours straight, or does even taking breaks cause this to happen?

If it happens even with breaks, does the break time count towards the 6 hours, or just the login time?

Is it always 6 hours or is it a range from like 6-7ish hours that it happens?

I currently have two MSI progress reports (with breaks) one at 6h36m and 6h18m.

The time is definitely not set, some people (including coh3n i believe) reported it after ~4 hours, most people say ~6. It logs you out and tells you runescape has been updated check the home page, you then have to reload smart or the webpage to log in again. Breaks seems to prevent it however, as it's not 4-6 hours straight, and the update is to prevent hackers from staying on hacked accounts not prevent botting.

I set msi to change accounts every 250 minutes and i have had much less trouble with it since.

If it was to prevent hackers, and hackers only, why does the client get updated? If it was to prevent hackers then they would just kick the player, not ask the player to refresh the page?

I don't know about you guys, but i dont get that 'Rs updated' stuff anymore. If you do get it, tell me if you use SMART. Because i stopped getting that message after i stopped using SMART.

I get when using SMART, haven't autoed 6+hrs when not using SMART recently.

Basically Fawki says the client updates 4 times a day. Some devs who know the client have confirmed as well. The log outs usually happen 4-6 hours. Some times a tad later or earlier.

Even when I'm not botting and I leave my RS client open (with my char logged out), within a few hours the client will 'get updated'. It just means you have to refresh the page. I wonder if 'refreshing' could be added to SMART? Or maybe closing SMART and opening a new one?

Decision

I know this because I never use breaks after a straight six hours of botting you will get to the login screen you just have to be logged in for 6 hours and not in the lobby.
After 6 hours you will be sent back to the login screen and just can login again :)
Done this many times in my life :)

this has been mentioned before, and without a lot of work, it would just cause a massive memory leak

i think its to do with the bot-nuke update

think about it, if the ID's and hooks change every 4-6 hours then the bots would have to be updated too

I had two accounts. One just logged in/out every 30 minutes, the other went straight, all of this for around 10 hours. Both were using same script (some draynor fisher) on a comparable world.
Needless to say the one that took breaks is still in my possession and the other got a ban 2 days later.

Not true at all. My summoning tank requires a hella time. I'm gaining around 30k exp per hour using scrolls @ 3k exp per hour. I have been doing this EVERY day for the past two months.

On a sidenote: I HAVE NEVER ENCOUNTERED ANY RANDOM EVENTS, while summoning. Believe it or not. I believe this is due to the low amount of exp I am gaining. I did encounter randoms while training woodcutting for quests by the way.

I think gaining a lot of exp is a factor for random events and checks by jagex.

thare are many zones in RS that are random event free. As soon as you step out of those zones…..you'll be sure to immidiately encounter one random…or two :)

Some days straight, yes.
I am a summoning tank and I cannot get charms the normal way, as I lack of the strength to kill monsters. (it is possible in multicombats but I cannot bot that).
I have been spamming cheese feast scrolls with an albino rat for the first month from level 23 to level 63 at around 700 exp per hour. Now that is very low exp and it took me very long. I have been away for 4 days during that month and I have never encountered a random in that time.
Neither have I ever while using scrolls (and thus getting low exp rate per hour).

Now I am level 69 summoning, about to hit 70 today and I am using oph. incubation scrolls with a spirit cobra which is around 3400 exp per hour. Still very low exp, and still does not encounter ANY random events.

In case you guys have never tried it.
I made a reflection script that flips items on the grand exchange. It does not gain any exp, but does gain a lot of money. It kept going for 8 days straight and I have never encountered any randoms with that either.

I strongly believe the frequency of random events have to with the exp rate.

On a side note: My pure (which is banned now) was autoing 24/7 with it. Was gaining around 30k strength exp per hour @ flesh crawlers. I used rsbot to auto with it and it will log every event/server message.
I found something very interesting.

It might have had to do with the exp rate but I am not sure about that.
I kept getting random events after a specific amount of time.

For example at 10:00 am I got a random event.
1 hour, 8 minutes and 34 seconds later I got another.
I checked it and it kept returning after exactly 1 hour, 8 minutes and 34 seconds.

Strange? Yes.
Coincidence? I don't think so.

Yes but just like I said, when I bury bones in the same exact spot; I am getting randoms, and I think that is because I am having a way higher exp rate per hour….

There are random free places in runescape. Now that's just a fact. There are also activities where randoms are rarer, such as agility as random events can't appear while you are going through an obstacle (and in most courses you spend 95% of the time in an obstacle e.g. a tube of some kind).

But I've heard similar opinions from other players that the amount of xp/h also affects how often you face randoms. Now this is not proven but just an opinion some people have after years of RS experience. Nonetheless, it doesn't matter if you make 500k xp/h on a random free zone, there still won't be randoms.

Hmm might also be true, that would be pretty awsome. As that would mean that they do not investigate botting on summoning scrolling at ALL. At least thats the conclusion I come to when thinking about it. If they did investigate it, they would send randoms; no?

There has already been discussion about this, and what I've heard doing this would result in large memory leaks in SMART. Aka lagging big time.

I'm not denying the very real possibility that it's also an anti bot measure, but jagex said it was to prevent hackers, i tried finding the source of this info but couldn't. Maybe it was false info i saw, but if so it was photoshopped because it clearly showed a jagex mod posting about it.

Yeah I understand, and yes Jagex did implement such things. However they would simply kick you out and you would be able to log right back in, not ask for you to refresh the page stating that Runescape has updated.

No no no not true. This can happen and does happen to legit people too. Anyone who has the client open for long enough will get the update message.

What we are pretty sure is happening is that they are updating hooks 4 times a day. Hooks are what reflection uses to bot on runescape. Each time they update reflection bots need to also update. This is just one of their many measures to stop reflection botters and that's all. No need to fear.

I'm scared man :( what do we do .

Anyway fixes are being thought of right now involving a loop-hole in client itself. However we don't know if players can get banned by exploiting this loop-hole - yet. For now just manually restart your script. Maybe have Simba send you a text that it needs to be restarted.

I think so, but nah because when you use just the client, you need to target the client with the crosshairs. So anything outside of the client can't be messed with.

I say we figure out how to make SMART refresh itself, no matter how much work it takes, it's just something that must be done.

I just want to say that the "please refresh page" message is not always because of an update.

At school I bridge ethernet and wireless connections. When I play legit, I cannot under any circumstances log in while my network is configured this way. Maybe it has something to do with the fact that I have directly public IPs on both connections, but I always have to unplug my ethernet to enter a world, then I can plug it back in.
