Heavenguard - Where I stand today

—> A community is a group of people who interact and share common values with one another. SRL is something much deeper than that. A community that shares common values and tends to its allies are very easy to find, however a community that shares different values and grows on its own, is rare. Those types of communities don't often gain recognition from other people, and they are not often glamorized for there values either. Instead, these communities are simply, for lack of a better term, divine. SRL is heavenly, it is a community with a plethora of talent, and I joined this community exactly two years ago.
—>SRL is a wondrous place place, let me explain. The color of the forums, for one, are so inviting. Filled with these monotonous shades of blue, I felt less strain on my eyes as things looked easy to read with engaging fonts. I wanted to learn about everything the community had to offer, and I started by declaring this community itself as my family*. I needed to become a part of the community, so I was avidly posting on the forums, making myself comfortable with all of the members of the site. I made friends, enemies, and advisers. I never knew how engaging a forum could be until I joined this site, and it was worth every minute of my attention.
—>I began learning from a whocares' guide and progressed into Coh3n's guide (who at the time had this iconic Stewie Griffin* avatar that made him more appealing to me as a teacher) that allowed me to put my skills to the test. I made a thread which contained my notes when I was learning how to script, these were more contained notes that documented the knowledge I obtained after I understood the concepts. After reaching (and partly giving up) onto the level of understanding the concepts of TPA's, I knew I was ready to start making my own scripts. My first ever completed script was my Varrock East Miner and Banker. I was a big fan of color and a hater of reflection, so it was important that I set the mark that color was the all-time best, unfortunately my greed got the best of me and I ended up working too long on my first script. I spent hours on end with it, I was consulting the help of many members and trying to savor each moment that I learned from the tutorials. I became a humble scripter because of this, and it is a reason behind why I am usually so compassionate towards the community. You had to be there with me to understand the things I learned.
—>A couple months had past, I was on and off of the community, and my father had become ill. This was about a year later, that my father was sick in the hospital for about three months. I knew that whatever hope I had left in me, that if I really needed to be somewhere, I had to spend the time with my father. I went to see him everyday, I even came back to this community and asked for prayers, and I may not be as religious anymore, but I knew the spirits were there with him. He past that February morning, a day before my mothers birthday, a present that would last a lifetime. I spent time just holding onto my job that I currently have, I knew that things could have been worst.
—>I am here now, just showing my due respect as it has been two short years since I joined. I didn't keep to my promises that I made, I didn't become the best scripter, and I wasn't the most driven person on this forum. However I did make the promises, and I became a damn good scripter, and I know for a fact that some gear was turning in my head to keep me moving with scripting. I still have my job, I'm dating a couple of girls, and I have my mother and my cat Bubu (who still doesn't mind tearing my face at night since my dad isn't here to do the job). I'm also at college in my state university, no major declared yet. Oh yeah, I also have one more thing, how could I forget? I have SRL here still. I guess that counts for something right. Thanks for two years of cheers, and this is a personal thank you from me, Nicholas R., because you guys need to be reminded just how much you rock.

Here, ill even take a pic for you guys, I don't even do this for my facebook.

*Family: I know this made a lot of people angry, I refrain from using this anymore
*Stewie Griffin: The little brat in "Family Guy" who talks.

Wow, what a great post! You are an awesome person, and I'm so sorry about your dad. I'm glad you're here, and I've actually used a script by you (Can't remember what it was though).

Keep up all the great work! (Not just here, but in everything you do)

SRL is a family, and we are ever so growing!

I'm sure sorry to hear about your dad, Heavenguard. What matters is you were there with him until the end and he knew how much you cared. I'm sure he passed in peace. In any case you always have family here regardless of what's going on in real life. I'm glad that you're still here with us and I hope it stays like that. :)

Thanks lol, don't think this thread was about my pops though, it's really a two year celebration =]. I'll be re-learning a few things and having a few scripts here and there.
