Bringing back MSI Members +

NCDS suggested this a few days ago, and I think I agree. It makes sense as we're one of the only bots still working. I don't think it'll come to the point where we make a difference in the game, but it would be nice to have some scripts that aren't available to everyone.

Here are the ones I'm thinking should be for members:
  • Guild Miner
  • Resource Dungeon Miners (will be added soon as I've created the SPS maps)
  • Guild Fisher (will take 5 minutes to add)
  • Higher level Runecrafters (Nature, Astral, Cosmic, etc.)
  • Magic Tree Choppers
Thoughts, additions?

E: We also need a decent way of distributing. We could just have the members add scripts themselves, but people are lazy. I was thinking an encrypted .zip of Scripts.simba that Members can just extract. That also allows everyone to see the file and maybe give them some incentive to start scripting.

You will always have the issue of people leaking the password.. but itd be better if you could read the information from files into script records. Then, on starting, one could just parse the MSI scripts directory and magically you have some but not all scripts.

Itd be even nicer if there was a similar command to Python's execute which allows one to execute dynamic code.

if this was implemented, it also makes shipping MSI through the script manager much easier.

That's the same with any Members+ script, though. There's really not much we can do about it.

I've thought about reading the records from files a long time ago, but figured it wasn't really worth it. If they were read from a file, people could just read the file and figure it out anyway.

Wizzup?

I say put it out in the public. It'll be leaked to public soon enough, and you even have it all on github. How do you plan to hide it?

The members version of Scripts.simba wouldn't be on github, or it would be encrypted.

This sounds great for the script manager, right?

I agree to there being member only scripts.. and possibly one or so of the (purely) money making scripts as well?

I agree with this.
Yeah keep the members scripts.simba secret :p.

Yeah it will be leaked, but I'm sure having it secret and leaked will make it have a lot less users than if it was just in public.

Also, this might get some more people to try and achieve SRL member status.

I understand why we might want to do so, but do we really achieve much from doing this?

I don't think we'll inspire *that* many people to apply for SRL Members for it to be worth it, really…

Probably not, but MSI offers so many different locations, the leechers can choose from one of them. Let SRL contributes use the better locations.

I don't know, does it? Lol.

@RM: We only have clay softener and container fillers. If we find and add a really good money making method, then yes I would say to keep it Members+.

Hmmm…. Yeah okay, count my vote as neutral

That's the main reason i suggested it. Also, as Coh3n said, it's nice to give the actual contributors a little extra when we can. :)

I agree. Give better scripts to those who also make scripts for others.

Alright well I'm not sure when I'll get around to doing this (maybe when/if I get SPS and the Guild Miner working).

Perhaps it's time to implement script loading on the fly :)

Also, does SRL have access to private repos?

What do you mean by that / how do you mean that?

GitHub offers private repositories. :)

Wizzup could also host them on git.villavu.com

I think you guys are over thinking it. It's not going to be very many scripts anyway. We could just have the copy/paste method we used previously.

Works for me.

I doubt they will be used as much as they would be if they were JR too, but it will make more people apply for SRL Membership…
