Hopefully we won't be tampered by them… But we definitely need to up our game.
Anyways, I think what MMG said is quite interesting… Are they lies or truth? Talk about it here i guess..

It sounds like their stategy for "macro clicking bots" (he never said anything about color) is based on player reporting. SRL will start thriving. I really wish we had some footage of what went on during the developer brain storming sessions for clusterfu**.

Also the people that go to runefest look ugly… Are there any attractive people that attend those cons?

Side note: I now feel like an evil villian who has been destroying their perfect little game world.

They really stressed the fact it's just a start and it's the gold-farmers in which are targeted #1. I noticed they were talking about dramatically altering the landscape in the next few months. While not stopping visual bots, it just makes it a pain…

Thanks for the video.

I just got to the part where he was talking about people creating hard to type names so its hard to report them and he said you can right click them and report them, yeah wasn't this suggested YEARS ago?

Even if they change the landscape we will adapt. I remember a few years ago when they changed the game engine and it broke SRL entirely and many of the scripts. We bounced back, we always have and always will.

This made me smile.

In regards to one of the guys on stage who said:
"I would love to tell you whats going on but can't for legal reasons..blah blah blah"

Jagex Limited vs Impulse Software : "15. On information and belief, Defendants have a history and pattern of owning and operating cheating web sites for a variety of massive multiplayer online games, including cheating sites for Diablo 3, Starcarft 2, and RuneScape®, as shown in Exhibits E, H, and K."

I am sure that there are many more references how they are being farmed by the "legal" bots in suits.

When did D3 come out?…..lol

This is the truth. Color with tolerance + pure math is nearly impossible to stop.

Indeed, all they said about colored bots was reporting them and the community needed to help them. I'd like to add that the type of people that come to runefest was what I expected. I just didn't expect the guys to give a presentation THAT bad. I mean, they didn't look like they were having any influence on anything. Anybody who is some kind of important chief of a company, especially company's THAT big, would wear a suit and could give good presentations. These guys failed at that part IMHO.

We always adapt to any kind of situation. In the past, we did adapt. In the present, we're adapting. In the coming future, we'll certainly adapt! Jagex strikes, SRL strikes again. And the story repeats in an infinite loop!

Is runescape really THAT big of a company? And most video game companies are never really that professional anyway.

That's because it was only part of Runefest, and Runefest was supposed to be just a social gathering for people to hang out, chat, have a good time, play RS together, ect… Would you wear a suit to that? Now if it was for the sole purpose of a public speech twords the battle against the bots I'm sure their dress code would be more appropriate, as well as the scenery.

Well, they're not that big but not really tiny either. They have around 450 employees, according to their website.

I'll have to get back into scripting, seems like a fun challenge to prove Jagex wrong about bots.

Ah good point. I've never heard of runefest, neither did I ever read something about it.
But after all, it is still hosted by jagex, and they knew they were going to give this presentation so in my opinion they should have prepared and done better.

Nothing can beat math, we have the upperhand.

Unlike reflection, fixing a color bot isn't "Too" complicated as you just need to get new materials etc. Just takes time.. Everything is possible in time.

I think it's because the RS community itself doesn't seem to take us seriously. RiD seems to be more well known amongst legit players than SRL.

I think it's also because RiD takes themselves more seriously.

kingarabian

Don't forget that RID is a pay bot. We are completely free and profit free.

onilika

2011-10-31 07:54:32

Yes, so that's might be the reason why Jagex doesn't see us as a potential Community to be taken care off. We got nothing paid to use, it's all free. That's what makes us unique.
Also…RiD is all about Runescape. SRL is a large community, not just about Runescape, but all kind of games, graphics, questions about programming, education, and so on…

Looks like it. Most of the scripts they are asking you to pay for were free at other botting sites that now don't exist. Since the construction bot is free I might check it out but other than that…they don't have much to brag about.

I actually liked the way they seemed down to earth and didn't wear fancy suits. Besides, CEOs of much bigger companies don't always use suits in presentations, Bill Gates and Steve Jobs coming to mind first. You have to remember that these guys (Jagex) started out as game developers, not businessmen. So I think it's cool they don't try to act like some company big shot, but remember where they are coming from.

Judging a company's size by the amount of people they employ, is not a very good way. People do it a lot, but it can be very inaccurate. Revenue is a lot better meter for a company's size.

Facepalm.

senrath

Except that when someone asks about a company's size, they're generally asking about how many employees that company has, not how much money they make.

They won't have mentioned SIMBA because its probably the only macro that will stay working. The others they can break, why would they advertise to botters who have no idea that you exist that they are trying to stop, but wont succeed.

SCAR and SIMBA types of macro will never die, they may not be the most effective way of botting but that's the price for stability and longevity.

_sw

2011-11-18 07:51:09

Not many people who don't hang around a lot on RS cheating forums even know SCAR/Simba exists. I don't think Jagex do, they probably think that SCAR disappeared years ago.
