OSI must leave!

Only recently came to my attention that work on a new include has started. This new to be developed OSI include is going to be the new include for SCAR.
I forbid work on this include here. I do not want to see any news about the OSI-include on this board anymore. If you want to develop something that is in direct competition of this board, fine, you are free to do so, but you do it somewhere else. Not here.
I am really serious about this. I started this board over five years ago with the first and only intention to unite forces and create the SRL-cloud. Most of you where not around at kaitnieks's time, but believe me, the community was torn apart by competing includes. Output was completely user unfriendly and the community divided in clans competing instead of working together.
L'histoire se répète? Not here. OSI must leave. I make this statement right here and right now to protect my community, to protect it's unity. Not because I am trying to be a complete asshole. I am in awe at all the work that you guys do around here, and SRL was, is, always will be a great place to be part of. It's legacy is rich, and it's roots are as deep in the history of free botting. Best place in town!
But still, OSI must go. It doesn't belong here. It doesn't fit in. If you want to work on this, be my guest, but do it somewhere else, please.
But SRL is now include for Simba, and these forums are also a rs cheating community :/ Noone is starting include wars, OSI is not threatening SRL's existence in any way, it is just an include for another color macro, what's the big deal there? :\

Apparently you weren't around during kaintieks' time either… Multiple includes didn't tear appart the community, it inspired innovation, which eventually died with SRL… And as c0de stated, OSI is a SCAR include and SRL is not a Simba include, there's no "include wars", which is why it's confined to the little SCAR box of the forums.
EDIT: Aside from that, if people want to port SRL5 back to SCAR (put back in the defines that were removed from SRL4), they are more than welcome to do this at the SCAR forums.

I worked on some of the old includes, and yes, they did polarize the community in a very bad way. True, they did encourage innovation, but it was in the spirit of killing off other includes, and it was nearly impossible to copy the useful bits from multiple includes without starting a flame war. And no, you couldn't simply use multiple includes at the same time, they were inherently incompatible.
I agree completely with Fakawi, this is, after all, the "SRL Forums." I can't say I fully support breaking compatibility with Scar, but I believe there's more to it than simply a few defines, and maintaining compatibility can become an unnecessary drain of resources. But that's all off topic. This isn't a place for another include.

I agree, I also don't see why this is even an issue as the OSI include is being developed and supported at the SCAR forums.

Because supporters of the OSI include insist on touting it around SRL Forums, in some cases to the point of a flame war.

Well, if people do this outside of
here, I'm not involving myself with that, that's SRL politics… Neither do I involve myself with OSI development any further than support and advice.

That's fine have your forums have your fun while it lasts.
SRL won't live without active developers who are capable of pushing it to new heights. OSI has new innovations and is a project worthy of standing up to what the future holds.
For all I'm concerned SRL hasn't been active since Zeph nearly single handedly last picked it up from complete inhalation after runetek5.
SRL 5 is simply SRL 4 with the rust scrapped up to make it look like it was made to be simba specific and SRL "6" which was SRL 5 hasn't gone anywhere since it began nearly 2 years ago. You can thank simba distraction and such partially for that.
The developers that built SRL to what it was during its peak (which is long past) to begin with have either lost interest in the include, have gone on to to more important things in life, or are now working on OSI.
I don't care a damn about what happened at kaitnieks or include wars that happened 6 years ago. If you think history repeats itself then remember that those includes were replaced by something greater just like SRL will be.
You can run around and boast about how great open source is but it comes down to who has the better end product. Freddy and I work directly with one another as a team to push SCAR and OSI forward. When was the last time that simba was truly responsive to the needs of the high-end scripter when it came to the include as priority? I'll give you a hint, it's right before the developers that actually cared were pushed over the top to make a miracle happen for simba compatibility.
My ties and relationships with the people that make this community run deep. People I care about will always take my work that I'm involved in seriously and try what I have to offer.
Power is something that great men achieve inadvertently, and not by design. Obviously my goal was never to gain power unless it meant doing things the way I sought fit. It's hard to rise to power when you don't want to follow someone's agenda soley to gain power, but when you overcome that difficulty of doing things your way it's worth more than anything in the world.
But enough talk here, OSI is going forward and at least a good percentage of the people that make up this community are going to use it and there's nothing you can do about it.
A true intellectual would realize the importance of coexistence peaceful relationships for mutual benefit, but unfortunately this is not the case and I'm done playing politician on these forums in effort to do so.
Competition will be the only factor that will determine who comes out on top, no matter how hard you try to restrict discussion about it.
If you want to actually do something productive about it compete.
I am a man of ethics and will abide by restricting all OSI news and development to my 'suttle' signature, but only because it's ethical to abide your wish, and not that your wish is ethical.
I am glad this issue finally has the real attention it deserves, even if it was as late as now.
I can't help but think this has a lot to do with the recent resurgence and importance of color botting in the cheating scene and the ad revenue generated from all the people watching.
But whatever, I'm writing my own history now. What happens to SRL is SRL's business.

Could you please summarize that? It looks a bit like Russian/Nortth-Korean pro-communism propaganda now.
edit: I'd like to know which devs from "SRL's peak" are working on it, because Freddy already took SCAR over then, Icefire wasn't dev yet and we all know c0de's contribution. Basically your entire dev list consist of people who just became SRL Member during your so-called haydays of SRL. And looking at the list, I also got some ties with the people on it.

For your information, that forum has been closed for writing and will soon be moved to an archive section. I did that just after Icefire908 continued to advertise with c0de, they had incredibly large signatures, before this thread was made.

Stop lying to yourself. You know that this is not true. SRL is the foundation of
all advanced colour techniques. Just because we have not been very active recently doesn't make SRL's contributions to colour botting negligible. Radial walk was ``legendary'' in the times of kaitnieks. What is it now? Nothing compared to all the methods we have now, and even radialwork still works fine. Have a look at those ``old'' includes and see how innovative they really were. They were just copies of each other, all lacking in some areas. This liberal-speech is silly. After all, if SRL lacks innovation, why blatantly copy it in OSI? Why not create something new and innovative instead? Aren't you doing the same with OSI that Icefire908 accuses us of with SRL 5?

How about the developers largely responsible for the latest anti-random reform? Come on now.

Links to other communities have always been allowed in signatures, rsbot, ibot (look at rulers sig).
You obviously have not even glanced at any of the source of OSI or the OSI wiki if you think it is even SRL 4 is remotely on par with it or is just some rip off copy of it.
Who cares if SRL was the foundation of advanced color techniques? You think script users are going to use SRL because SplitTPA originated here?
I really don't care how much you defend SRL or whatever you try to prevent from OSI of being heard of, or how much you restrict my signature. I'm not a part of SRL anymore so I couldn't care less about anything here especially if no one understands the purpose of coexistence, you're only stabbing yourself and your community in the foot if you think that you will somehow prevent progress of OSI or a user-rebase.
The SRL needs to compete to survive, but it is completely inactive anyways. So this rapid decline should be nothing of news.

Actually, I've looked at the Github repo as well as the wiki; liked the BSD license. If you're not a part of SRL anymore: leave.
As for ``Who cares if SRL was the foundation of advanced color techniques''; I didn't imply we have the sole right to use this; on the contrary, use it as much as you want. I simply wrote that part to counter the (brainless) remarks Freddy made.
I tried to write nothing that should even remotely trigger a reply.

I would have to side with fakawi agreeing that 2 Includes cannot survive in the same environment.. You are lying to yourself if you think they can… This isn't an argument of what is better and what needs work, it's as simple as 2 competing includes need two separate forums. Apple and google don't share the same toilet, though they work together fine in some areas (and at each others throats in others). Stop being such a liberal drama queen ice fire. No one cares.

I agree with that which is why OSI has its own forums. I simply posted a link to OSI in my signature and made a post in the
SCAR section.
Once again I am the drama queen because the SRL administration does not have what they want.

OSI stands for "Official SCAR Include", and after all he *did* post in the SCAR section…
Best solution to avoid problems like this would simply be to remove the SCAR section, imo.

I don't think the problem is similarity. Icefire908 can use all the code he wants IMO. Just don't promote it as something that it isn't: "Official SCAR Include - Revolutionizing the way macros work.". (SRL 4 is now over three or four years old and your include surely looks like it)
Icefire908, advertising in general is NOT allowed in here, not even in signatures. This includes the SCAR forums since that's where OSI is now hosted. There have been exceptions for guys like rulereric, to prevent any wars between communities. Seeing that you haven't been a nice guy to just about anyone here for the last half year or even more (I'm not going to dig anything up), your community exists of very few users and it doesn't look it will be a very friendly community, we will not grant you the same right as legendary (perhaps in their own way) figures like rulereric.
On top of that, you've simply pushed it too far with the image advertisement. Do you think you can just search for the boundaries of our patience and when you cross it just revert back to something you did just before crossing the boundary? Not here.
So, just my agenda? No. Against the direction that the entire SRL staff wants to go? Yes.
You're making yourself more and more unwelcome here. Stop here and now before you damage your reputation here even more. If you don't like it here anymore, leave. Post when you feel you must, but behave and follow the forum rules. They apply to everyone else and you're no exception.
Closed. I think everyone's view on this matter is clear.

It is truly a very sad that our sparse resources are torn into two camps. I have tried to not let it come to this, but Freddy and whoever wishes to follow his path is of course completely free to do as he chooses. I know for certain that no good things will come of this. So be it. But for SRL, it stops here.
My thread. I get to close it!
