Interesting theory about October 25th Update

From: iFy
Lots of people recently have been posting asking about if Rsbuddy will still work.
The main reason they wonder this is because Jagex mention stopping all "Reflection" bots, later in the thread another mod stated that Injection bots will be stopped too. Many players and staff alike are ignorant as of now to how this may affect Rsbuddy, most think that just changing the method will work but this may not be true, in the post they mentioned "System changes"

Me and my research assistant from another site have found out a ton of information recently. The process of Jagex switching to a DirectX server (Hence the client not working a while back) may be associated with changing the way Data is read by Rsbuddy, instead of item ids having a fixed set of numbers to identify the item Runescape servers may have all the info stored on randomly rotating RAM so at one moment the item id could be 1234 then next moment it could switch to 4321 and the bot couldn't differentiate the changes. This would make botting almost impossible.

Ex:
Bot goes to pickup bronze Dagger with Id set as 2346
RS servers have changed the ID number to 5678
Bot cannot find item ID of 2346 so it doesn't pick it up.

The reason they say 98% will be stopped is because 98% uses these methods ex. Powerbot, Rsbuddy, NeXus.
Only 2% uses other methods such as 3D modelling and analogies.

If this was true Rsbuddy and others may be set behind by months or maybe years than the 2% of bots that use visual to bot.

Discuss.

So could you explain why that would not work? That would stop the bots if it was possible.

The idea of a "DirectX server" makes no sense, so it should be fairly obvious from the get-go that the user is spewing crap.

The rotating of things in the cache would be a massive waste of time and bandwidth for Jagex. Furthermore, the client still needs to know how to render the game, so it would still have information on everything (therefore, so would the bots). Suggesting that the data could be shuffled around randomly during gameplay implies a poor understanding of the client.

Then what do you think their solution is?

doesnt matter atm. the fact is they think they got 1. and they prbly do. all we can do / should do is improve on colors.

I don't think anything is their solution. I'll reserve judgment until I see it in action.

They probably have some sort of system, but Method's post in the other thread got me thinking about the possibilities. It seems that there is always a way to counter Jagex's added precautions because their system has to be included or referenced in the client, and anything in the client can just be reverse-engineered.

One thing..they were talking about using signed and non signed client. And that they can see if user has any kind of software and/or has visited on web any bot website. What should we do?

"3d modelling and analogies"

I prefer personification bots.

Anyway, "So your saying that we would be able to hack into a Runescape server and steal the encrypted contents in a RAM module that would be constantly changing? " where does he think people get hooks from? lol. I don't know much about all of this, but I do know that a "DirectX server" doesn't exist because that doesn't even make sense.

I've never looked at the rsbuddy forums, but there are quite a lot of stupid people there.

Use signed. That's all you can do, lol. I've never ever used unsigned and I used to bot 24/7 (literally). I'm pretty sure it's not okay for them to look at your processes. And even if it's not, I doubt they do. Why would they need to implement any changes whatsoever if they could see people were running rsbuddy/simba/powerbot/etc.etc.? :p

Unsigned is actually the safer option:

Yeah, blah blah blah. Sorry, I really disagree with him, for the reason I mentioned, "Why would they need to implement any changes whatsoever if they could see people were running rsbuddy/simba/powerbot/etc.etc.?"

It doesn't make any sense to me that they don't ban every person who has ever used or ever does use any of the known bots if they know it (as most people don't use unsigned, I don't think).

I do, however, think that now they *may* use it as a signal for botting, since you have to use it. I'm not sure.

Know what I find disrespectful?? The fact that RID says they will be the oldest client in existence on Oct 25th..

"On 25th October, RiD will officially become the oldest still functioning and still undetectable macro in RuneScape."

Pure bs.. scar is the oldest AND still functioning as far as I know..

Oh and I also find it disrespectful that ppl are saying.. "What can jagex do.. I mean come on, it's jagex, they're not going to do much.. Jacmob has this in the bag" Thats bs.. They created the game after all.. why take them lightly? Why disrespect them and yet still play it? Jacmob is not a God.

Well neither SCAR nor Simba are 'clients,' but neither is RID, is it? I dunno.

I do agree with you on the Jacmob piece, but I disrespect Jagex because they have been talking but not doing these past few months. Even now that they are unveiling this new system, I don't think botting will stop. Autoing made a comeback after Autorune was taken down, and it made another comeback when Aryan was nuked. So I have no doubt that autoing will continue after Tuesday.

That's no doubt at all in my mind that people will still be botting even on the same day, but it will hopefully be in a much smaller amount. I'd love to see the botting community move more toward color. <: Much more fun.

What if their just talking again. Y would they tell us they will launch an antibotting thing. May they wanna see a change in player action such as the people who bot wont play or something. Its sparked so much conversation in the botting community. Maybe that's just what they want.

Why would that matter for SMART? Not sure how much it needs to know about the applet it's loading.. I was pretty sure you could load any(?) Java applet and it would work in some sense.

Even if I'm wrong, I don't think SMART is dead.

They could use OnLiveĀ® Technologies. Have everything rendered on their servers and streamed to your PC.

That's be the only way to kill non-color bots forever. But Jagex isn't dumb enough to do that.

I'm not really sure, might have only been in the SSRL forums :X!
Don't worry, not too much progress was made, but it looks really damn promisinsg.
I think main problem was we didn't have enough dedicated users with enough knowledge on the topic, just mainly one random guy who came out of nowhere and made us a few plugins to demo things.

And we don't need to get too ahead of ourselves YET, who knows what Jagex will do and if it will even work to stop us :D

I think this announcement is as much about saving face as it is about stopping bots. So I think they want to change the atmosphere in the RS community and announcements like these certainly do that. If you hang around the rs forums at all you know that for the past year(?) the whole forum has been more or less one giant rants forum where people tell how much Jagex sucks. Now there are people cheering for Jagex, expressing gratitude etc.

Then again, if this thing doesn't work and bots return (at least most of them) this will all blow back into Jagex's face. So it's a risky business going out like this stating that 98% of bots will be permanently unable to abuse the game, unless they are 100% sure that they got things under control.

Even then it would have to be referenced in some way in the client or loader.
