Could be used to detect certain animations like chopping, combat etc :P
Disadvantage would be that you'd probably have to keep rs sounds on.

In early SRL times. Shock.. Or something similar to that name tried create a Sound plugin that would reckonize different sounds.

it was a failure i belive, that or it just never got the attention it needed. not that we need sound as we have plenty of other ways to detect current activity.
and no the rs sound would not need to be on (even if it did only the slightest bit 1%).
from then on i imagine you could simply get hooks/input for whats coming in.
it would be a solid idea, had we had the need for it. but doesnt seem like thats ever gonna happen. even if jagex takes away reflection.
unless they make a random event where they just say "up, down, left, right" and you have to press the arrow keyes in that order or something dumb like that. haha unlikly.

If they made that random event, it would HAVE to be displayed on the screen somewhere so that deaf people can still play :).

I've tried playing around with it in the past, but it requires very specific sound settings and it didn't always work. Comparison was especially hard. Rewriting would be a lot of fun, but perhaps not particularly useful?

Maybe not so usefull but it would be a nice feature. Actually it would be used quite rarely I think.

I don't know guys, I think it's a good idea actually. It'd be (near) the equivalent of reflection tracking if our player is animating, and depending on the sound, which animation. Not to mention, Random Events have their own music, yes? Maybe an alternative random detection. I like the idea.

Last time I tried to check this out, on windows, you could only read the audio output buffer, in which all of your computer sounds are already 'mixed'.
