I think it would be a good idea to make a forum called announcements.
It will save alot of time for people and you wouldn't get so many 'Same Threads' that people tend to post or threads that are important that people say they can't find.
Threads in there should only be able to be started only by forum mods or higher. You can then announce this of importance like new simba, srl, reflection release and also new found problems that everyone should know about.
It would be a good idea also to move the 'SRL Public Forums' above the members area and place announcements at the top of the public forums.

Just a thought.

we already have announcements. but I do agree they could probably be utilized a bit more.

I can't find it

It would need to be one of the first things people see when on the main forum page. I'm sure people would like to read what's new/updated or a know bug that's being fixed. Could also have links in the announcement to a more detailed explanation about the subject.

I'm just thinking then hopefully people would look there before posting the problem they have and also see what's new/updated about everything all in 1 place. As I mention with links to the more detailed pages in the section of interest.

He is talking about the announcement feature of vBulletin. It really only is used for critical information regarding things like security. It isn't really a forum itself, you just select certain threads (iirc).
