I wish consoles would die, honestly you can plug any controller up to a PC with ease, fully functional.. dolphin allows playing gamecube / wii games over the internet with others

You're forgetting that running something like Dolphin is not that easy to set up. Most people LIKE a console for it's simplicity. You buy a disc, you insert it. Play the game. No installing, nothing. Just play. No need to buy a newer graphics card, etc. (you just buy a newer console…)
