I have a 7200RPM and a normal 6000?RPM harddrive. My 7200 is supposed to be "faster" but the thing is you can hear this one rev up to a higher speed, but slow down alot. The stop and go actually makes it preform alot slower and when I'm playing RS and you can here the Hard Drive go from idle to 7200 again it will freeze the computer until its back up to speed which can take about 1 minute. Is there any way I can fix this? I'm running windows on the 7200 and Ubuntu on what I think is 6000 or 5400.

It doesn't take a minute for your HDD to go up to max RPM.

The only reason why a HDD should be giving you problems during what you describe is if you don't have enough ram and your computer is using your HDD because you ran out of RAM.
