Reflection only for Members.

As you can see what title says.

It would make Members section more popular and *mostly* only trustworthy people gets here.

And by this thread I don't mean my pixel thieving situtation. Just in common I think it would be better.

To release Ref scripts only for members JR members can use it to script. But releases only to Members.

If your talking about using reflection then I'd say no. Because its a TOOL that we all should have access to.
But If you meant keeping reflection scripts that are made by junior members or higher so that only juniors and above can access, then i'd say go for it.

Read my 1 post, updated it for a bit.

Yes I mean that Ref scripts should be released under Members forum.
But JM can still use it for scripting.

I'd support it, but as long as any one can script with reflection :P

Apart from giving members + new privileges, why would you want that?

Honesty all Banking scripts use to Members+ by default why they aren't anymore I don't know. I supported that fully…

I don't think it's a good idea, really. All that it will cause (in my mind) is frustration to many people who are very well deserving of using a cool tool like reflection, would pretty much make MSI members only (which I'm sure NCDS and Coh3n wouldn't support), and would bring new problems because no matter what, some scripts will be leaked.

To me it would only cause more work to be done and more frustration.. And there's already enough work to be done.

I don't see the benefit…

I have and will always be against this idea.

I don't see the point in doing that but I always thought P2P scripts should be in members. F2P scripts to show how good our scripts are. Thing is tho really we need as many scripts as pos in public area to get more attention to this site.
Maybe we could have 1 script section which shows all the scripts on the site but some it will say you can not download until you are a member or donater, something like that.

It might motivate some people to become members, but most likely majority would just leave to a different place. Most scripts are reflection nowadays, so there wouldn't be much left for JR members.

We would lose traffic…
Leaching is good in a way mate!

Well it's great that this makes a discussion, and yes opinions are welcome. :)

I still haven't heard a single person say the benefits, unless it's better really is an argument.

Maybe encourage leechers to learn the basics of color? To be honest, I guess I support putting restriction on banking scripts more (Ofcourse show the scripts if they are made by leechers). There are good color scripts out there that doesn't use ANY reflections at all, so maybe by hiding banking rather than reflection would have a bigger impact.

Not enough beginners these days know how to script in both color and reflection; they are often 100% reliant on reflection perfection (hell yeah, that rhymes). Not to mention that only color knowledge is truly excepted in an SRL members app, so by discouraging the use of reflection early there would be better members applications. To some people it might not even be discouraging, if it was me I would try to get SRL members because I like access to exclusive features :)

Why not:
Power scripts for leechers, if a newbie makes a script he can automatically view banking scripts?
I guess my point was kinda off topic :/

That is how it was before ^. Sucked. Trying to force scripters to use a particular include or modify their script involuntary for a different group of people is against SRL's ideals.

MSI uses no reflection. If the user wanted, you have the option to use reflection for walking.

Limiting who can release scripts where is a bad idea.

Yes, let's only release crappy scripts to leechers and have them run over to powerbot!

Kidding.

Let's see…
What good would it do us to restrict reflection to those who earn it?
Newbies would only be able to use a small amount of scripts, of which many of them are buggy and non reliant. What will this result in?
1. As ignorant as most newbies are, they run away from Villavu and run over to powerbot.
or…
2. They decide they want to learn to script themselves so they can make and/or fix scripts.

Al'right, so some MAY stay, and a lot will most likely leave. Good or bad?

I knew how to use SCAR for years before I knew how to use it for Runescape botting. Why? I had no clue how to make stuff work and how to use the SRL functions. I knew SRL existed, but I was too lazy to twist my brain trying to figure it out. New stuff is hard until you learn it.

The amount of leechers isn't what's bad, it's the lower amount of contributors that affect us. Why not try to encourage people to contribute instead of punishing those who don't? Why not reward those who contribute in a better way than today?

While the SRL members rank has been easier to achieve lately than it used to, it is still possible to contribute without being able to make SRL members worthy scripts. I think SRL members should be a hard rank to achieve. Why not make junior member applyable (is that a word?) where we would judge by a script just without the same criterias as for SRL member?

Alternatively we could award those badge thingys under your name based on the amount of scripts a user has released. Who doesn't love badges?!

tl;dr: No. :)

(edit: I'm dormant. I didn't realise this was old =))

It should be up to the scripter to who he wants to release his script to, and members only scripts these days don't get used at all.

Considering we need more people to join the site I don't think its a good idea. I think members scripts should be more to do with beta versions, to get help and opinions of other scripters.
