Just posting this in the BBQ pit since it isn't really imporant… Basically what I want to point out is that I've been derepped quite a lot recently, though I don't really give a f*ck. I think it's just rather immature, with comments like "You have no relevance posting on this forum!", "Stop advertising, gtfo SRL forums" and "Quit advertising". So dereppers, take a good look at yourselves and be proud. ;) Maybe some people are pissed off that I'm venturing outside of my little SCAR section, not sure, but w/e…

I think people need a history lesson, scar had lead many years of srl macroing.

People should be +repping you for the awesome program that we used for years and years. Ungrateful bastards.

You are still a jewel in the rough, so your rep is very much in the plus where it should be, but I can understand why people would derep you.

If I where to go to your forum and start advertising Simba and the SRL-Forums, you wouldn't like that either, pretty sure you wouldn't.

I know you need to advertise yourself somewhere, and this is probably the most logical (and only) place for you to do so, but appearently this is not appreciated anymore. As you know, the ongoing dispute between Simba and Scar isn't doing this community any good at all, whatever the outcome may be. It needs to stop.

This is the SRL-community. This is not the Scar-community anymore. Scar has succesfully been acquired by Simba. Simba complies to the open-sourceness of this community, Scar doesn't. Although we honor you and your legacy, you yourself have caused it to fade away, you can't possibly blame that on us.

And Freddy, only you know how hard we (the whole community) tried opening you and your software up, offering help in any way we could, but the only help you could appreciate was money….money for sites, money for software, money for design. You have never accepted anything else but money. But money cant buy you respect, friendship nor a fine community.

And Scar is still very very much closed source, and still very much in the hands of one man and one man alone. The last stable version is already years old, your new version is like what halve complete, and you are quickly loosing your assets around here if you continue to advertise yourself so desperately (which isn't allowed btw, even for superdevs).

My advice for you -as always- would be: open up….and stop advertising.

Wow, that's not right man. You've been here since the beginning as-well as SCAR has been to. It's pretty trivial that they're doing that just cause they're trying to push SIMBA and trying to desert SCAR. I liked your use of the hyper links to videos to state how you feel about it. But I honestly think Eminem would have been better to explain that you just don't give a f*ck They're obviously just mad that your program is Shi**in on em. Lol

How do you even derep, lol. I would only +rep someone who helps developing.

That's a bit harsh don't you think? I've never cared about money, I just would like the expenses I make for my server and development to be covered. That's the reason I have ads and donations, same as these forums. If I cared about money, I wouldn't develop free software.

Aside from that, get your facts straight. The last stable version is SCAR 3.25.08 which was released about a month or so ago. If there's no place anymore for SCAR in this community, then go ahead and remove the SCAR section and be done with it. However, this "ongoing" dispute wouldn't be an issue if everyone agreed with that vision.

Before turning down on scar like you do here, and in numbers of other posts, try downloading one of the newest releases and give it a go? :)
I think you'll be positively surprised of how much better SCAR has become since the 3.15b version we used (tried to use) back in the day.
As of right now, SCAR 4 (SCAR Titan) is better that Simba in many ways.

E: Don't get me wrong, I still like Simba a lot and Simba does have a lot that SCAR does not have. When Lape comes, Sibma will probably be faster than SCAR Titan too

I personally enjoy both scar and simba. Especially since now the scar has some support for C++, I think it could make users here learn more stuff and it could be fun to see what we can do with it:P.

Why not have both scar and simba? It combines two communities together and gives us more opportunities. The more power we have the more powerful we are! (I dunno why i said that).


EDIT: If scar doesn't have support for SRL. I still think if people were to use it and program other stuff (like club penguin lol), it would give them more understanding of logic and perhaps allow us to make better scripts for SImba :p

Agh… Fakawi wasn't comparing Scar to Simba in those ways, why would you even bring that up? The only thing he mentioned that compared the two is the fact that Simba is a community project and open-source for everyone. There's no reason to turn this into a Scar vs. Simba thread. There's no reason to say either one is "better" than the other.

Tbh, I just tell people to use whichever they feel is best for the project at hand. Seems logical…

well complaining about nothing is a good way to get advertisement up too.. people will maybe be like "oh if it's worth this much trouble maybe I'll go check it out"

There is a forums dedicated to SCAR and Freddy1990 is the maintainer of SCAR, thus he should have a right to answer questions and advertise in the single forum that is dedicated to his software. If you don't like SCAR, simply don't click the link to that forums with the means to bash and flame, as that is just unnecessary. Grow up fellow SRL users, for the sake and sanity of all of us, and use that minute of your time on more productive things.

I've been around the scene for years, and have been on both sides of the river where words travel over. Build a bridge together, and come to the centre. Not to battle, but to just set aside the differences of each other and to stop all this ever ongoing war!

Don't have anything nice to say, then don't say it at all!

I agree on the fact that it's not the de-rep that's the problem here, it's the harsh comments that are going along with it. If you don't like it then go ahead an de-rep for it, but don't throw out such comments to amplify the matter, just add/subtract your rep and be done with it.

If it is not about reputation, then what is it about? You are contradicting yourself now? Please be more clear.

I'll just state that Simba and SRL are building this bridge together with/as a team, several or more developers, programmers and people learning how to program. If there's one side not working as a team… Well, you know what side that is. Everyone is welcome to join us in building that bridge, but not in breaking it down. ;)
