Good Mechanical Keyboards

Going to buy a mechanical keyboard sometime this year.
I know there are a few different key types which all 'click' differently but I'm pretty sure I will love them all equally just because mechanical keyboards are awesome.

I want to get a durable, feature rich one as I plan to pay as much as it takes to get the most bang for my buck.

My friend has one of these: http://www.amazon.com/Razer-BlackWidow-Ultimate-Mechanical-Keyboard/dp/tech-data/B003ZJ5B4I/ref=de_a_smtd
and I'm also thinking about getting the same, lots of features, feels good, and I'd highly prefer if your suggestions were BACKLIT keyboards (BLUE or interchangeable colors please!).

Also Q: Is Razer the 'Dr. Dre Beats' of gaming peripherals? Or is there stuff quality, legit, and worth the money you pay for it?

Post suggestions (personal experience helpful)

Razor is good, but you are also paying for a name. It's definitely not a SkullCandy type brand. Think of it like Turtle Beach.

Yeah I was assuming they are quality products, but also + a bit more for the branding. Whatever, I've worked/am working full time all summer making nice chunk of money and have almost no expenses, so a few extra bucks is ok with me.

Then go for it. They have great products/customer service.

Some people like them [mechanical keyboards], some don't.

There are a lot of options for mechanical keyboards though and I would check out ebay, a lot of good mechanical keyboards are older (iirc)

As far as razer products go, their mice are nice. Can't speak for the rest. (I think comparing them to turtle beach isn't really correct but I won't get into that)

I'm familiar with DAS they are nice looking and great functioning but the lack many extra features like backlighting, USB ports, audio/mic jacks etc (I think, it's missing some of these) and the high price for just the basics is unjustified to me, good suggestion though. I think I'll go for the razer. Keep posting friends!

Saw them when researching, LOVED the look and features, asn yes they do have audio/mic actually :D.

Only problem is, I don't think that they are mechanical?

Go to a computer store, find more expensive keyboards, check for one with easy to press buttons, google it when you get home for reviews etc

Why get such a feature rich keyboard? Can't you just get a $20 logitech one? My one has served me for many years + 1 coke spill.

I mainly just want a mechanical keyboard because they feel amazing to use. Backlighting will also be of good use for me. Mechanical keyboards are a bit pricy so I just want to get the best product/most features to get the best bang for my buck.
