SRL Archive - MSI Updates & Announcements

Hey guys,

So you've probably noticed that NCDS and I are the only developers for MSI (with the rare commit from other users). Since being promoted to Admin, my duties have yet again, increased, and I don't have enough time to work on everything I'd like. In other words, I don't have the time to be working on MSI as much anymore, and NCDS has a lot of real life stuff to worry about, but he gets work done when he can.

What we're looking for are dedicated developers that have some time to commit to maintaining and/ore the development of MSI. Let me be the first to tell you, understanding how everything works is no easy task. MSI is huge, yes, so it may seem intimidating, but NCDS and I are always here to give a helping hand. Some qualities an MSN Developer should have:

• A desire to script 100% in color (with the exception of walking).
• A desire to learn new things and expand their knowledge in basic programming concepts.
• Have a decent amount of time to commit to the development of MSI.
• Love a challenge

What will you gain from this?

• You'll be a contribute to perhaps one of the best scripts SRL has ever seen.
• You will learn literally EVERYTHING there is to know about color scripting.
• Experience within a great team environment.
• The status of MSI Developer (not right away, you have to earn it of course ;)) which includes a title and cup.

We are NOT looking for someone who will develop for a couple weeks, earn the cup/title then fall off the face of the earth (yes, it happens). There are so many things that can be worked on, you can pick whatever you want. There's a new form in the works, maybe you like working on GUIs?

No need to apply, anyone can start developing through github. The first place to start would be here.

I've done a script, haven't posted yet. Still want to improve some things. Also I'm gathering some ideas for a new color script I want to make :)

I'm pretty sure I posted in the beginning of the summer saying I was going to help out again but numerous opportunities to travel around the country has arose, leaving me with virtually no time to even be on the computer. I must apologize for not being a loyal MSI Contributor and think my cup deserves to be revoked.

You deserve it and just because you aren't active anymore doesn't mean you're any less deserving. By that logic, there would be only a couple staff members, and not many people would have cups. ;)

:p Reflection is too easy in my opinion (scripting in it, not how it works).

If I had the time I'd be all for helping out… Between school, 2 jobs, and personal projects I don't really have time for any scripting at all.

Best of luck finding contributors though! MSI is awesome, would hate to see it die.

I'm not worried about it dieing, just expansion and updates are moving slowly at the time.
