If you would like a video aid of this tutorial, please WATCH this video kindly provided by x[Warrior]x3500

Hello, I've seen a LOT of Reflection 2 "How do i get it, help me" posts and threads, so I thought that I might as well write a temp quick tutorial on how to get reflection 2 :)
  • Firstly, download this : Reflection 2 @Github
  • Extract and then open the folder, you will see lib, plugins, tools, README.txt, Reflection.simba.
  • Open up your Simba folder, and open up your Includes folder.
  • In here create a new folder named 'Reflection2' [no ''s]
  • Copy lib, plugins, tools, README.txt, Reflection.simba in here.
  • Next, open 'plugins' [the one in your new ref 2 folder]
  • You will see, RefCalculationslib.dll and a source folder
  • COPY RefCalculationlib.dll into Simba -> Plugins [The plugins folder in your simba directory]
  • Voila!
Note if you download a reflection 2 script you must replace:
{$i reflection\reflection.simba}
with:
{$i reflection2\reflection.simba}

Don't really need the source folder in plugins.

Oh thanks, I wasn't really sure about that any way.

Simple script.

You need 7z, OpenSSL, and a pretty new version of Simba.

program new;

function ShellExecute(Hwnd: LongInt; Oper: string; Filename: string; Params: string; Dir: string; Show: LongInt): LongInt; external 'ShellExecuteA@Shell32.dll stdcall';
function MoveFile(Src, Dest: string): LongInt; external 'MoveFileA@Kernel32.dll stdcall';
function DeleteFile(Filename: string): LongInt; external 'DeleteFileA@Kernel32.dll stdcall';

function GetZip(): boolean;
var
zip: string;
F: LongInt;
begin
zip := GetPage('https://nodeload.github.com/Drags111/Reflection_Dev/zipball/master');
Result := (zip <> '');
if (Result) then
begin
F := CreateFile(IncludePath + 'Refl2.zip');
Result := WriteFileString(F, zip);
CloseFile(F);
end;
end;

procedure CopyPlugin();
var
Plugin: string;
F: LongInt;
begin
F := OpenFile(IncludePath + 'Reflection2\plugins\RefCalculationslib.dll', True);
ReadFileString(F, Plugin, FileSize(F));
CloseFile(F);

F := RewriteFile(PluginPath + 'RefCalculationslib.dll', True);
WriteFileString(F, Plugin);
CloseFile(F);
end;

procedure RenameFolder();
var
Folders: TStringArray;
I, H: LongInt;
Src: string;
begin
Src := '';
while (Src = '') do
begin
Folders := GetDirectories(IncludePath);
H := High(Folders);
for I := 0 to H do
if (Copy(Folders[I], 1, 5) = 'Drags') then
begin
Src := IncludePath + Folders[I];
Break;
end;
end;

MoveFile(Src + '\'#0, IncludePath + 'Reflection2\'#0);
end;

procedure WaitFor7z();
begin
//ToDo: Write this...
Wait(5000);
end;

begin
WriteLn('Downloading zip...');
if (GetZip()) then
begin
WriteLn('Extracting...');
if (ShellExecute(0, 'open'#0, '7z.exe'#0, 'x Refl2.zip'#0, IncludePath + #0, 0) = 42) then
begin
WriteLn('Waiting for 7z to finish!');
WaitFor7z();
WriteLn('Renaming Directory...');
RenameFolder();
WriteLn('Deleting zip.');
DeleteFile(IncludePath + 'Refl2.zip'#0);
WriteLn('Copying plugin.');
CopyPlugin();
WriteLn('Done!');
end else
WriteLn('Error when calling 7z....');
end;
end.

Haha, nice video and you're right it is easier to just copy the whole drags folder instead of renaming it. :)

I added you video to the top of thread by the way.

I did this, and had to change the file path for the hooks as well.

You should probably upload the video to youtube or something, it less of a hassle to view that way.

.ogv . AFAIK, youtube still destroys .ogv files :( and i havnt found any decent converter so far (i know of some, but all of them screw up the sync between video and audio) :(

EDIT: i have also spent hours trying to figure out why my HTML5 video tags work locally, but not serverside. i even reverted to playing this through Java on my website, but this didnt work either. :(

I may be able to help. :)

Also, does winff not work? I heard it does. (Also don't know what youtube does to .ogvs, but you may try again?)

When I open reflection under simba, mine states…

{$DEFINE SMART}
{.include SRL/SRL.scar}
{.include Reflection/Reflection.scar}

but in the video it had…

{$DEFINE SMART}
{$I SRL/SRL.scar}
{$I Reflection2/Reflection.simba}

idt this is the error but now none of my scripts work and i cant seem to find any solution… i checked and re checked multiple times….

You should update reflection/srl/simba.. Not sure why it'd be giving you the 'older' method of including (which still works just fine, by the way), but it shouldn't be an issue.. .include and $i do the exact same things, afaik.

ya still not getting anything to work. i deleted the reflection 2 and got some scripts to work again but still some of my originals dont work from reflection.

redownload simba? AFAIK, the extensions (open reflection) are not updated like simba is.

Make sure your video quality is 100, FPS is at 30, don't encode on the fly, don't compress it, don't do quick subsampling, and do full shots on every frame.
