Why do you hate homosexuality?

Awkwardsaw

2011-08-02 23:07:15

Due to conversation in #srl, i'm curious as to why people hate gays.

You can say that it's not natural, and that you should produce offspring, but if thats the case, what if they do produce offspring, yet they still prefer men over women?

I'm straight myself, and I dont really care if you are gay or not, or if you support/ hate it, I want to know why people hate them

Uhh tbh.. For some god damn reason I have no clue why.. Im just sorta homophobic.. its just that I can't help it.. I can't see how a guy can like another guy.. I mean come on.. can u really look at a hairy burly ass guy and say u like him? Touch his rugged beard and mustache and hairy chest and huge muscles? Women to me look so much better even if they were hairy (very very very little) or muscular (a bit)..

Iunno I just don't see it.. and what scared me most was when I was a kid.. Some GAY pedo.. was released from jail or something in my school area (u know the ones where they send home a letter n shit about it?) and somehow got to my school and said: "Hey kid want a lollypop" but lucky me.. I wasn't allowed to leave the playground so my butthole got saved.

Iunno I'm just a bit homophobic but I don't show it at all because it would prob make them feel bad or something or feel like I hate them when I don't want to :S Even though I 100% don't accept it :S But meh its just me so whatever.. as long as they don't target me or go after me then fine u can live in the same city or planet..

As a child of God I've been taught to love each and every creature and human being on this planet. That however does not include gays because we all know when God sat down and wrote a book about how things came to be, are, and forever will be, he clearly stated that fags should burn in the depths of hell. I simply hate how before someone is openly gay, they act perfectly normal (for the most part), but when they become open about it they start talking like a girl and acting more feminine immediately.

Go ahead and be gay, but your still a male….

I've worked with quite a few gay people, and I've never had a confrontation with any of them. I had a friend that did, though. They had a little clique where they would get together during work and chat about all sorts of things. My friend joined in with them for several months, but eventually there was a falling out. They kept mocking her for being "naive" when they would talk about sexuality. She finally couldn't stand it any more and stopped being friends with them.

So the only thing I've witnessed first hand has been the intolerance of gay people toward straights.

There have been many examples in popular culture as well, such as how Mormon people that were fired from their jobs after it was discovered that they supported Prop 8. I've never seen a gay person fired because they believed something, although one guy that worked in the office was fired because he used the office credit card to send a big bouquet of flowers to a guy he met at a club the night before.

So I would argue that it's gay folks that are by far more intolerant of people that disagree with their lifestyle than the other way around.

In the book of leviticus it tells a lot of "abomonations", which go from eating shrimp, to being gay. Even then, according to the context of the text, abomonation simply means "against tradition" rather than "immortal sin and you shall burn in hell". Also, in all the accounts that ive seen, they refer to homosexuality to not spreading your seed, and growing the population, rather than being attracted to the same sex. From what I could tell, as long as you have offspring they really didn't give a shit.

People in general should watch the documentary "For god told me so"(or something like that, lol) on netflix. It covers this subject thoroughly

I'm a bit intolerant versus people that use religion as a reason to hate gays. That book has been re written a thousand times. There are so many things you aren't allowed to do. From eating all kinds of food that you probably eat to accepting gay people. I can't understand how any one can seriously use religion against an other.

I know a certain amount of gay people. No problems or anything. Though I can't talk to the girly mans/manly girls. There is no problem about it in the Netherlands. Just accept them. Nothing will change, everything would be fine. This is something that shouldn't concern other people at all.

I dunno but that made me hard.

I don't know where you guys live but there's a huge gay community near where I live and no one is annoying/flamboyant about it. I have only seen flamboyant homosexuals via the Internet, never IRL, even though I chat with quite a few of them on a weekly basis.

I even know more straight people who are more annoying than any gay I have met… it's not related to their sexuality about them being annoying. I can say 99% of deeply-religious people I have met are more annoying than any homosexual I have met.

Unless you aren't acting like a faggot yourself, no gay is going to try to grope you up or anything like that… thinking they will is just as dumb as those girls who live their life in fear always scared about getting raped 24/7. Even if a gay guy thinks you are gay, just say no and he would leave you alone. Wow, that's so hard.

Lesbian are a gift from god to the world:P

mixster

2011-08-03 09:03:17

There is a simple reason why people hate homosexuals: they themselves are repressed homosexuals. You may balk at that, but isn't one of the common phrases said from "heterosexuals" to homosexuals 'Fuck you'? Now, I'm not a cunning linguist, but that, to me, implies that they wish to engage in sexual intercourse with the person, something which a straight person should not wish to do.

Then, of course, is the prevalence of sex-biased groups. A "heterosexual" usually spends his time with those of the same sex. Men stick with men; women stick with women. If there is one in the other then they're often classed as the opposite sexuality. That is, a woman commonly with a group of male friends is a lesbian and vice versa. It, of course, doesn't make sense: why should hanging out with people of the same gender make you heterosexual while the reverse heavily implies homosexuality?

What I find the most convincing though is the double-standard that is amongst the gender: men "love" lesbians and "hate" gays; women, to my limited understanding, "hate" lesbians and "love" gays. This makes no sense: lesbians increase the competition for men seeking a partner and vice versa, in both cases taking two from the available pool. Then again, could it be that the "love" is for increasing their preferred pool? Every pair of lesbians is two more guys without girls after all, and the same goes backwards.

This is all just the tip of iceberg though. Pornography is a large area with plenty of depth, yet "heterosexual" people often watch "heterosexual" pornography. This makes no sense, because why would a "straight" man want to see a penis when he could see two naked women? No matter at what angle, there's always a penis in there somewhere and it's usually the half of the focus of the action along with its female equivalent, putting the (possibly mythical) female voyeur in the same boat.

There's also the case of "beer goggles": the action of drinking to find someone attractive. There is no immediate problem with that, except that it's strange that, despite being attracted to the opposite sex, they would be willing to lower their standards. Often, there is much "grief" in the morning when they wake up beside their partner, said partner often not much of a looker, one easily mistaken for a member of the opposite sex. But, if that mistake is made when sober, then isn't it likely that it would be even easier with vision blurred by beer? If you can't pick up the subtext, is it possible that their drunken mind chose someone who at least looks like a member of the same sex to quell that uneasy burning?

So, like adults chiding children for giving in to the mutual urge of running up the down escalator, people oppress those with freedom of sexuality due to their own repression.

Also, I hate homosexuals because lesbians never share, even when I offer to give them a finger ring.

No, I do not have a problem with gays. My best friend is gay. I think people are mostly afraid because they do not understand. And on a side note, for all you people who say you have a choice, you don't.

Personally, I'm strait, but I have grown up in a neighborhood full of bisexuals and homosexuals.

Here's my theory. In the past homosexuality was heard of, but extremely rare. Recently there have been an extreme burst in homosexuals bisexuals. I believe it has to do with evolution. Just think about it, before technology and the creation of energy, the world only had enough energy to support about a billion people. Now, the world is getting over crowded because there are more people then there should be. In the past evolution has played a part in many things, including the extinction or downsizing of species. Homosexuals can not have children, and therefore because of this, if more and more people become homosexual, the worlds population will go down and down over time as the old generation dies out. This solves world hunger, crowded areas, need for energy, cost on water/food/energy, etc.

Don't you see? Homosexuals are a cure ;)

Evolution doesn't work that way Bionicle. You can't start with a goal and work toward it.

And the time scales involved would eliminate any sort of genetic evolution being at work.

I haven't personally noticed an "explosion of gayness" in my lifetime, so it probably has more to do with cultural indoctrination than anything else.

I am a bit annoyed at the public health effects that homos have on everyone else. It's like this whole segment of society has such a fragile mental state over not being accepted by their dads or friends or whatever inadequacy they're dealing with that they go on these risky binges of sleeping around without any regard for themselves or others.

Over 60% of all new AIDS cases in the US are to homosexual men, even though they make up less than 2% of the population. It's even worse for young black gay or bisexual men, who are just a sliver of the population but make up 25% of the new AIDS cases.

Their behavior impacts everyone. AIDS in particular is a fully preventable disease, but there are so many gays with latent hostility against their moms acting like they have a death wish.

+1

FFS guys.

I feel like have so much to say, but I'll try to keep this as short as possible.

First off, let me tackle this whole "unnatural" argument. Look around you… everywhere and everything on this planet can be considered a part of nature, because it is there. Yes, this includes homosexuals too. To say that homosexuality is unnatural is to say that it is alien, foreign, or not of this natural world. This is obviously ridiculous due to the fact we are physically having this discussion. Apologies for only posting wiki, but this does aide my point: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Homosexual_behavior_in_animals

If you make the argument that it is "unnatural" in the sense that homosexuality does not permit reproduction, then I would ask why you wouldn't bestow the same intolerance and hatred towards heterosexual couples who choose not to reproduce. What about those who wish to have children but medically cannot? Are they too abominations? Think bigger picture, and you will realize that this argument will get you nowhere.

Some may make the religious argument that homosexuality is "unnatural" and is not approved by God. While you are entitled to believe what you wish and and freely practice your religion, you must remember that your religion takes no precedence over anyone else's. Therefore, any judgments you make are personal, and hopefully will be kept that way. From what I remember from my religious upbringing: hate, intolerance, and malice are a few of the things that would be considered "sins", and are ironically the tools that these "religious followers" use against homosexuals every single day.

For those who say that it is "unnatural" because it just doesn't feel right or just seems "wrong", then I would say once again that you are entitled to feel that way. It seems that this is a natural response for someone to feel, NOT because it actually IS wrong, but because it is strange and unfamiliar via your perspective. Humans tend to fear what they don't understand and also cling to those with beliefs, behaviors, and values most similar to themselves. Think about all the tribes who practice body part stretching. I myself am not fond of stretching and deforming my lips, ears, or whatever, but I don't hate them for doing it. I don't go around finding ways to stop them from preforming these things or openly harass people who actually like it. On a less extreme note, I may not like country music; in fact, I really haven't liked it ever, but I'm not about to start telling everyone that Heavy Metal should be their music instead. My music is my music, and their music can be theirs. The same should be with sexual preference. No one should be telling anyone that their desires are "unnatural", ever.

[/END RANT]

[THREAD TOPIC]

Why do people hate gays? The answer is simple in my opinion: people can be intolerant, hateful assholes sometimes. Many of the things i brought up in the above paragraphs highlight sources of this hate. I don't blame anyone for this. There are always reasons for which these tendencies come about, but I sincerely feel that if we could all just step back, take a deep breath, and give an honest, educated assessment of this "homosexuality thing", it would result in everyone truly seeing how foolish and ignorant we have been. Homosexuality is no threat, and therefore deserves no reprimand.

Pretty sure there's only three:
Old Testament: Everyone should be killed for disobeying ambiguous and contradicting rules;
New Testament: Everyone should be forgiven and treated with tolerance;
Middle Testament: Decide who should be persecuted and which parts to believe in by a throw of dice while telling everyone you're about forgiveness and tolerance.

Unfortunately very few Christians follow the New Testament, which is quite a shame since it's one of the somewhat morally acceptable religious documents (in relation to modern morals.)

Edit: Forgot to mention that it's a general classification system for just about any modern point of contention where a side claims religious backing.

I'm fairly confident that he's saying people are "afraid" of homosexuality because it's different from the "norm".

Edit: @Yago: those are the only three. If the Bible is the Word of God, then it must be true. There is fair reason that the New Testament can be seen as superseding the Old Testament as well as fair reason for looking at them both. However, the two are quite contradictory, so you're either left with the Old Testament or the New Testament. Unfortunately, people aren't very discrete so they like to mix and match between the two and ignoring the bits they don't like, confusing what they wish to be true with what is true.

I'm fairly confident that he's saying people are "afraid" of homosexuality because it's different from the "norm".

Correct. And I meant on the lines of understanding, not always experiencing…even though that sometimes works… I had to experience heavy metal before I understood it. I thought it was all just satanic, creepy, sacrificial shit before I gave it a fair shot. ;)

But yeah, educating ourselves to provide that form of understanding is the only fight against intolerance…

I believe he's saying you don't understand or you haven't explored the entire religion/doctrines inside the belief… There are many different schools inside Christianity with a variety of views/and philosophies regarding homosexuals…

When regarding homosexuality most christians refer to the old testiment in the same context of the new testiment, which is totally different than the old. I understand the different doctrines inside the belief, i've been studying it for a while, as well as growing up in a baptist family

I'm not sure where you mixed up sexual orientation and love…?

Everything. If a man loves another man, he is attracted to the same gender.

I'm straight and I personally don't mind people who are gay, open or not, I can also understand why people can be homophobic, hating people who are different or being very religious.

But when I hear people say;
"I don't mind gay people as long as they act straight in public"
I can't help but think along the lines of;
"I don't mind straight people as long as they act gay in public"

Don't mind if you don't like it just please don't make people feel the need to repress it.

Some people hate just to hate.

I personally see nothing wrong with homosexuals. That being said I cannot stand feminine males. They completely piss me off. Of course, many of these femmies are homosexual because that is what society has told them they should be and I think that is why people hate them… they hate homosexuals but they really just hate the ones that annoy or are a little too open about their personality.

I have no problem with gay people existing.
If a gay guy flirts with me i treat him like any other guy. KNOCK HIM THE FUCK OUT.

Are you implying straight men flirt with you too?

Wow. So much hate in this thread?

So I'm mentally ill, am born with AIDs and will happily spread it, a menace to society, completely unnatural, and, judging by everything said, going to be the cause of 2012?

Fuck you all.

s/you all/religious people/

But thanks for generalising us all into people who hate gays; exactly what some ``haters'' on this thread have been doing to gay people - generalise. ;)

Yeah, I didn't really mean all, but it seems the majority of people in this thread.

EDIT: And to those who say it was a choice -> The only choice I made was to accept it and not live a lie. Why would I choose to be hated on in society like has very well demonstrated in this thread?

About homosexuality being a "cure"… a while ago there was a study where many rats were kept in a small area. Some of the rats turned to homosexuality. It was hypothesized that homosexuality was one of the rats' form of population control.

Then scientists should test if this trait is also applicable to humans. Something like a gays per square mile experiment or something where they test the amount of gays in a densely populated area and the amount in a sparsely populated area. They would also have to account for the cultural understanding of homosexuality in that area though, some people may be afraid to admit they are gay if it's not accepted in that area.

Or they could test apes instead, that may be easier.

Jumping into this thread a little late but I'm just gonna leave a little thought. I think humans are just out seeking pleasure - and that's the end of it. If that means taking a dick up your ass well, people just decided that that is "wrong".

I mean just look Bonobos. Those fuckers will sit in trees all day and penis fence each other and females perform tribadism. And history paints a similar story for humans as well - just look at all the stuff we did historically for the only reason of feeling good.

Maybe I am a bit uncomfortable with them but I don't hate them.

Hate is a strong word. We gotta stop the hatin'.
