Hiya,
I've been thinking about how frequent we do Simba releases, and I think currently our releases are too infrequent. Sometimes there is simple no update at all between two releases. It may be a sign of stability, but I think it would be nice to bring fixes to the end user quicker. We already made the Simba updater for this purpose, but so far I don't feel that it is being used very often. One of the major problems up till now I feel is that the extensions aren't automatically updated, but I think I just thought of a solution to that. :)
My idea is as follows:
The Simba version is the the Simba-release version * 100.
So, Simba Installer 0.97 ships with Simba 970. Any bug fixes to this version will be named 971, 972 … all the way till 979. (Not that I expect we'll ever have to do 9 bug fixes releases, but you get the idea).
Simba installers will be named 0.97.1, 0.97.2 … you guessed it - all the way to 0.97.9.
Sounds OK? No? Yes? Do we need more frequent releases?
