Installing Reflection 2

Can anyone give me more detailed instructions of putting Reflection2 in the folders, I made a folder in the includes folder named it Reflection 2 and put the reflection 2 from github in there and copied the plugins from there in to the simba plugins. I still cant get it to compile.

Step 1:
Download the R2 Library HERE.

Step 2:
Rename your current 'Reflection' folder to 'Reflection1' (or something like that)

Step 3:
Create a new folder in you 'Includes' folder and name it 'Reflection'

Step 4:
Extract your downloaded file, you should have a folder named "Drags111-Reflection_Dev-c475656". Copy everything inside that folder, and paste them in your newly created 'Reflection' folder.

Step 5:
Load/compile a R2 script to make sure you've installed your new Reflection correctly.

when it says reflection/reflection.simba at the top (the includes) change it to reflection2/reflection.simba (or watever your folder name is).

Thanks Flight :p, just edited it to show the way I do it ;)

Easier just to use the original folder, no need for extra hassle.

But if you want to keep both Reflection includes, then you would need to do it i think.

I did everything exactly as describes but when I try to compile the reflection.simba in the ref2 folder the first thing it says is
[Error] ./lib/core/Core.simba(77:21): Unknown identifier 'SmartStringFromString' at line 76
Compiling failed.

Move the Plugins (in Reflection2 -> plugins) to the Simba plugins folder

Download the reflection folder(that i attached), extract it and put it in the includes folder, and move the plugin(the .dll file)and put in the plugins folder.

I did exactly as you said and ran the reflection.simba in the folder and it comes up with this.
Loaded fonts: BigChars, CharsNPC, CharsTrade, FriendChars, LoginChars, SmallChars, StatChars, UpChars, XPChars
[Error] ./lib/core/Core.simba(80:21): Unknown identifier 'SmartStringFromString' at line 79
Compiling failed.

and then line 79 is this

  SetLength(result, SmartStringFromString(javaString, result));

I really appreciate everyone trying to help, if know one sees any other problems there could be, if not I guess I'll just have to wait till a ref2 extension is available and hopefully then I won't have the same problem. =x

If you want to use reflection in a script, you dont need to run reflection.simba, thats why you must be getting the error. Here is you include reflection in a script:

program Untitled;
{$DEFINE SMART}
{.include SRL/SRL.scar}
{.include Reflection/Reflection.simba}

begin
SetupSrl;
R_updatehooks;
end.

No R2 scripts work either though, smarterchild pm-ed me a R2 script he was testing and I just tried the new livid farmer script which is R2 and when I try to run it always comes up with errors. this error is from the livid script
[Error] (700:37): Unknown identifier 'MODELID' at line 699
Compiling failed.
which line 699 is
if InIntArray(IDs, Temp.ModelID)then

Smarterchild's script comes up with a different error.. and im 99% sure I have done everything instructed right, I'm not completely computer illiterate, guess it's just my luck though.

The way I installed simba and put reflection 2 into simba was by doing a second install. Calling it 'simba with ref2' and there for I know which simba to use for what script I'm using weather it be a R1 or R2 script.
So you can, if you want, install another simba, say on your desktop. Make a new folder called 'simba ref2' and install simba inside that folder. Then download the newest ref2 from git, open the re2 zip folder you downloaded and open the directory where you installed the new simba. Copy & paste the files like I have shown

Note that the lib folder and reflection.simba file are in the reflection folder next to core.
Hope that helps :)

ModelID was three days ago, are you sure you got the newest version of reflection 2?

https://github.com/Drags111/Reflection_Dev/archives/master

And I'm very interested in the exact errors you get. I can probably solve them. Have you tried KingKong his code?

Yes I did compile KingKong's code and it seemed to compile but then simba just closed down, not sure if that ment it updated the hooks or not. And yes I have that newest version, I re-downloaded it from your link just to make sure, I then tried to compile a r2 script from smarterchild and got this error

Loaded fonts: BigChars, CharsNPC, CharsTrade, FriendChars, LoginChars, SmallChars, StatChars, UpChars, XPChars
[Hint] (204:10): Variable 'Result' never used at line 203
[Hint] (231:2): Variable 'CHODE' never used at line 230
[Error] (598:54): Invalid number of parameters at line 597
Compiling failed.

Which line 597 is this
R_WalkPathEx(BankToCrevice, 0, false);
It seems all the R_ functions give me errors

I remember there being errors when you have both Reflection libraries in your includes folder, idk if that is the issue here though.

edit: nm, tested it for myself and i had no problems

go get teamviewer

It says you still use an older version of reflection:
function R_WalkPathEx(Path: TTileArray; Randomness, FlagDistance: Integer; Inverted: Boolean): Boolean;

You see, there are 3 vars now…

Hmm, I dont see that as really possible, I've tried the reflection from the link that you posted, aswell as kingkong. That is the only link to REF2 right? and I just tried installing another simba, with just ref2 and it still gives the exact same error for smarterchilds script.

Edit- @football, I just installed teamviewer. Anyone care to see if they can set it up right via teamviewer?

I'm online PM me.

edit:
Checked his folders, all the files are in the correct spot. My sample file did indeed run the correct version of reflection 2. But for some reason it can't find the walking function, or has a dif. one in mind. Anyone else want to try?

My suggestion…
Copy your big ass folder(I'm talking everything inside your simba folder in the C drive) and paste it in his… :p

in the Function Walk of my script, edit the WalkPathEx lines to:
   'Dungeon': begin
R_WalkPathEx(BankToCrevice, 0, 0, false);
   'Bank'   : begin
R_WalkPathEx(BankToCrevice, 0, 0, true);

Wow I changed it, and it actually compiled and launched smart no problem with ref2. I am heading to the gym now but I will further test it when I get back home, now that it compiles, thanks. Do you think that was the problem that ref2 had problems or is it just luck? cause livid farmer still comes up with an error, though I was never planning to use it, I was just trying any ref2 scipts to see if they would compile.

How stable is R2 right now? Perhaps updating (or at least writing) a R2 extension should be done. Pretty sure it would be exactly the same as the R1 one, except some names/links would need to be updated.

This really needs to happen. I've been outdated twice now simple because I've not checked Git recently if much has changed…

My scripts are heavily outdated and I don't want to update whenever there's a git update…

You shouldn't have to. The development should be at a stage where functions parameters are set and names aren't going to change before making the extension. Once it's at that stage, everything should be fine.

Hi, I followed the tutorials and got it installed, tried to reinstall but I was still getting the error..

first error I got was:
Exception in Script: Plugin(RefCalculationsLib) has not been found
which I copied into my plugins folder to make that go away (not sure if that's what I should have done but it got it to go away..)

then after that I get
[banana]Unknown identifier 'RAbyss_InRandom' at line 24
Compiling failed.
[Error] C:\Simba\Includes\Reflection\./lib/antirandoms/Antirandoms.simba(25:18): Unknown identifier 'RAbyss_InRandom' at line 24
Compiling failed.[/banana]

not sure what to do there since line #24 it brings me to is:

which doesn't have abyss in it at all, not sure

nvm flight helped me

the fix was to change all the stuff in antirandoms.simba on the top to:

{$i ./Abyss.simba}
{$i ./Arnav.simba}
{$i ./BeeKeeper.simba}
{$i ./Certer.simba}
{$i ./DrillDemon.simba}
{$i ./Forester.simba}
{$i ./Frog.simba}
{$i ./Gravedigger.simba}
{$i ./Maze.simba}
{$i ./Mime.simba}
{$i ./Molly.simba}
{$i ./Mordaut.simba}
{$i ./Pillory.simba}
{$i ./Pinball.simba}
{$i ./Prison.simba}
{$i ./Quiz.simba}
{$i ./Sandwich.simba}
{$i ./ScapeRune.simba}
