I need to ship an iPhone to Argentina, specifically Buenos Aires..however, I have never shipped a package internationally. I need to know:
1)
I have called USPS, I can ship it for
$40.10 - Base
$2.25 - Insurance
$x.xx - Tracking/confirmation
UPS, costs are in the 100s, so my question is USPS really the best option?
2)
How do I get this through customs without paying outrageous fees? Label it as a gift??..ect?
Hopefully someone here has some experience..

I hate usps, but it looks to be the best option. iirc, if you package it etc, you can tell them a low value and they take your word for it -> no outrageous fees.
Good luck.
This also means no insurance….

the 40.10 i was quoted was for express…which can have tracking and insurance
BUT…my concern is customs…i need to know how to bypass custom fees
What he said can get past customs I guess but you then can't insure the package. That's all I was saying. :)

Ok so dont insure it…so they see it as just a box
That will work..if they dont open it…i need to find out if customs opens packages

have a "friend" open it and send it over (just the item not the box) insured, then have them put on it that you left it over there when you went for a visit, then if you want the box badly, have them send it separately

You could use FedEx to send it to your destination. I went online and found out it would take $100-$150 to ship from USA to Argentina. I think you should give them a call and see if you'd have to pay any extra fees.

USPS is a great company as long as you insure your packages. We used to send gift boxes to our friends over in the UK on an Air Force base uninsured. All of his packages usually were damaged and one ended up flying around the world to vietnam and ended up 8 weeks late.
Though I built his $200 gaming rig stateside, boxed it up and sent it to him insured for $2400 and it got there in 4 days untouched.

There's no way to get a box past customs. (unless you know people or are really good at hiding things)
If they open it then you are boned if you lied on any documentation.
Put iPhone into ziplock bag, put bag into peanut butter jar. Might work. Also check customs and stuff, you may be able to send it just fine if it's valued under a certain amount.

just use them and label it as a gift, i dont see any problem with that
dont try and hide it, not sure about over there but australia xrays incoming mail, but also saying that a way of getting 'seeds' in is done through hiding them in socks and the package was labeled a demonstration item
