For a Comunity of programmers I do see changing SRL from Scar Resource Library to SRL Resource Library a tad foolish, how can you use the acronym you are expanding in the expansion of an acronym ? correct me if I'm wrong but wouldn't that be an infinite loop ?

It's called a recursive acronym and they are used allll the time.

There was another thread about this some time ago, can't find it though.

<3 Recursion! It can make you pro if you know how to use it =] Haha but yah I agree with you it is a bit silly.

Simba Resource Library would work better in my opinion.

EDIT: But SRL Resource Library is cool too.

Dajavu… Didn't we have a thread almost identical to this previously?

I agree with you though, and Frement, SRL 5 will be Simba only from what I hear, so Simba Resource Library would be appropriate. But I thought SRL 5 was supposed to be 'almost ready' months ago.

yah i know :( im tempted to just switch over to scar again (it supports pointers and such). imo, i think ref2 will be fully functional before srl 5 comes out… and ref2 is far newer of an idea than srl 5 is. :(

What does Simba lack support of, can you run external files?

Synergetic/Synergy Resource Library :) nah that sucks too :) SRL will just have to stay recursive.

I think we should just change the name to Easy, Accessable Resourcelibrary.

I don't know why the hell did we replace 'SCAR' with 'SRL' instead of Simba, since we were lucky enough to have Simba's name start with an S aswell.

The development of SRL 5 died for a while, but it has picked up a little bit now, but I wouldn't expect it to be finished for a while yet. Also, SRL 5 has nothing to do with supporting pointers or the like, that's in Simba. Just thought I'd clear that up.

i know :) but i would be more inclined to use Simba with srl 5 out than scar with their pointer support (right now, scar has srl and pointer support, simba only has srl). i cant wait for Lape :) should be a major improvement for Simba.

Could we have an thread that keeps other members up to date about how it develops. I quit waiting for it a long time ago… We never hear anything about it?

Yes, it should. Also, SRL5 isn't going to be that different from SRL4. Development has just been delayed due to the lack of time from the developers.

@masterBB: ^ that, and you can see it's current state here. Don't bother trying to test, it doesn't compile yet due to the new structure.

But still no commits for 3 months till june, it seems it has been dead. But since June the only active devs are coh3n with NCDS…

What? The last commit was July 11th.

Also, Nava2 did a TON of work originally, then it died for a looong time, then NCDS and I have done a little in the last month or so.

My comment was pretty bad to read. I meant that from May till June there were no commits. So it was dead. And since June you two where the only active devs.

Ah okay, then yes you're correct. Problem is/was lack of time. It's getting better, but it's still not the best. We are trying hard, though, I can assure you that. :)
