They don't even bother to try hiding it anymore.

Huh. They used to do that kind of thing a while ago, but they mostly stopped.

Wow, these are the kind of people[bots] that frustrate me. Rs is being exploited like crazy, and I wish Jagex would do something about it.

What can they do?

Eh… do what they're supposed to-ban em, improve their bot catching system, they don't even need to do much to stop like 90%(just made that up) of the bots out there. Just give out a ban hammer to anyone using a modified client and that outta get rid of atleast half of the bots.

Java bots fricking crashed everything. And by everything I mean it literally. I bought a whip today for 500k. Botting RC made way more money, now I can't make half of what I could before. This is getting irritating and they should do something about it if they expect RS to be one of the best games out there. RS is starting to become to maplestory.

Umm, those arent the actual account names?

He just created his acocunt, RS assigns a temp username to every account at the creation of the account. EX Player #12345.

When you assign the account a username it replaces the temp username with the one you chosen.

If you look at the bottom of the interface options, you'll see an actual name

The thing that bugs me the most is all the bots spamming gold websites at every bank. They are usually back up within ~5 minutes of every update, and they are some of the most obvious bots in the game.

How can Jagex even pretend that they care about bots or have any control at all when they have obvious bots spamming every bank in every free world 24/7/365?

Huthaifah

^^^ true, I think Rs is now caring about business more than the game now because the economy is going nothing but down.

I have a feeling the game is going to become one of those games that you're allowed to bot if you pay the subscription.. soon

2011-07-16 02:36:56

the fact of the matter is they dont seem to have any bot identifying software for the auto spammers of rs gold sites so banning manually is just rediculous…. the acounts get remade instantaneously….

no i dont think they can make a banning software to ban modded clients because identifying the modded client would raise privacy concernes and apparently its illegal…to do this theyd have to change their terms of service, and maybe make it client based as opposed to browser based so they can keep a better management of the game… but so far that ^^^^ has been more trouble that whatever theyre thinking of right now…and its only a matter of time before they realize what must be done…

thaatttttttttttt or they given up on rs and are trying hard with their new game..

tarajunky

2011-07-16 02:49:05

They should just "stealth mute" the accounts. Make it so the accounts still see their own text, but nobody else does.

That way the spammers would have to constantly check their accounts to see if they were really broadcasting or not. It would be much harder for the gold spammers to track than just banning them outright.

The golden age of Runescape had come to an end a long time ago.

I miss those days when botting/scripting/playing used to be enjoyable.

I am starting to get incredibly infuriated at the level of haters of java bots. The bots themselves are actually incredibly well made pieces of programming, it just so happens that the kind of people who use them are idiots, because it's so accessible. The people who design these java bots are very skilled programmers, I think they deserve a little more respect (besides those corrupt ones…)

Yo, nothing against Java bot's. I can't even make a script, respect those who can make a script/bot. I hate the people using the bots cause they go crazy. They exploit them bad. No one hates java bot's just the exploiters.

I thought about this a long time ago: this is probably what Jagex is waiting for. Waiting for the player's to say "bring back the trade limit, this is getting ridiculous." I would be surprised if Jagex trying to prove a point..

I almost agree to that. To me the trade limit doesn't mean much. I don't try to sell gold or anything. But I do hate that friends can't lend me a couple mill under it. Then again, I don't play runescape, so IDC ^.^! :D

Trade limit wouldn't bother me much, it's the wilderness and staking that would suck. I think people could suck up the trade limit if it meant getting rid of thousands of bots.

Yeh the only part I liked about rs was staking and wildy.

Funny how JaGeX killed the game removing Wilderness, then they managed to kill it again by addming Wilderness again

The reason why I started botting and making scripts was because I enjoyed the thrill of getting past Jagex. Now that it is way to easy and the mass amount of bots out there are to make money, that thrill is gone. To me, botting is pointless now. Jagex really should crack down on botting again, not only for the fact that all those dumb bots get banned such as the ones in your picture, but so that the economy gets better again, and so that people like us can have fun again.

We lost the SRL community when Powerbot came out, they went there using there money making bots. Dude they ruined the whole economy. 1 month after Free Trade came back, it was 1.2/m, now you can't get .6/m. I want them to remove Free Trade. But the limit can be 2 mill every day. And leave pking and staking.

Taking away free trade and leaving staking/wild is pointless. People can just kill/stake to trade. Wouldn't change much at all.

I think that the quest point trade limit idea was pretty good, but the rate at which the cap raises should be exponential not linear. Someone with 200 quest points should be able to go 10m over/under, and a f2per with all the f2p quests done should be able to go 500k over/under.

Or free trade, and anyone caught botting will permanently loose the ability to receive drops in the wilderness, have a 3k trade limit and stake. (Which is why you don't get caught ;) ). It'll just get rid of the stupidly obvious bots (which is the majority) and make the economy better.

I'm just in it for the good coding practice. And it's fun to see what improvements i can make to my own work or others. And it's flat out fun + this great community :D

When free trade was gone, nobody wanted to play RS: They just left and played other games. Now that free trade is back, nobody wants to play RS: They just bot now.

I enjoy pking, and making accounts to pk with, but honestly the botting problem became out of hand a long time ago. I wouldn't mind having free trade/wildy/staking taken away until they figured out how to fix the issue.

It seemed like majority of the people that wanted free trade back was to get the wilderness back, but now you can never find anyone pking in random worlds, you have to go to pking worlds to find them. As for staking, the majority of them are made up of the mega-rich who have an unnecessary amount of money, and they're causing rares to sky rocket in prices, honestly I hate people that are obsessed with money, seriously why do you need multiple phat sets?

As for free trade, I like how they implemented the need for quest points and needed the person to be on your friend's list for a certain amount of time, but it would be nice to have the limit jacked up a little.

They can just make a system that only allows you to have a name that is in the dictionary..

Like a mixture of letters and an actual word.. instead of some bs IlIlIlIlTlIllI kinda name that's hard as hell to report.. Everything is based off # of times reported.. I was actually planning on quitting rs when my membership runs out on september 1st.. Nothing new for me to do anyway..

Jagex will never step up.. because these bots make money off jagex and jagex makes money off the bots that are buying membership and thats a hell of a lot of them.. I had a bot hunter report me when I was doing frost dragons legit… Just goes to show that not many can tell the difference unless its obvious as hell.. and guess what.. He was lvl 138 with completionist cape -___-

Honestly though I think its kinda hard for them u know why? Because of the hypocritical botters that report other botters so jagex never knows who is a botter or not..
