MSI Update ERROR: Couldn't extract the tar archive.
Seems simba can't extract the tar.bz archive for me and I don't know where the file is supposed to go. Any help please?:duh:

Hmm, I think cycrocism had this problem, I'm not sure if he fixed it, though. I honestly don't know why or how this would have happened, but you can download MSI from here (save it to your Simba/Includes) folder.

Hopefully that works.

It's not just MSI, its SRL. Anything inside a .tar won't extract.

Has it always been like this or did it start recently?

Well I always used ubuntu, but I just installed windows 7 fresh on a new harddrive on my machine, so more than likely it's something to do with my version of Windows.

I didn't have the problem, was actually my cousin (Was helping her setup Simba + MSI on her laptop) I couldn't figure out how to solve it, so I just told her to use RSbot for the time being.

Do you know if she also had a new install of Windows?

It wasn't a new install, but it was windows 7.

I got her to install winrar but it still didn't extract. I asked Wizzup on the IRC and he told me that it used its own extraction thingy. Can't really remember, but I never got it solved so I honestly have no idea

Wizzup?

Administrator permissions?

E: Most likely permission issues.

I was about to say that. Try turning off UAC or change your account permissions?

Glad you got it figured out, added to MSI's FAQ. :)

You have a new update available for MSI!
MSI Updater: Local Version - "1290" | Remote Version = "1302"
MSI Updater: Update File - "http://wizzup.org/static/srl/msi.tar.bz2"

MSI Update ERROR: Couldn't extract the tar archive.

UAC disabled, excuting it as an administrator.

Nvm figured it out while typing this. I didn't place simba as a trusted file in my anti virus.
