How to avoid player reports.

I decided to ask people ingame on how to spot botters so I could come up with some ways to avoid detection as I believe player reports are a major part of how Jagex detection system works.

So here the top three reasons people reported.

1. Not talking.
Not much we can do about this as long as you follow 2,3 people will be more willing to accept you have public turned off.

2. Lack of clothing/armour
When botting on my main I tended to bank all my armour before starting this is probably a bad idea, you want people to think you care about your account even just buying a vanity item on the GE would probably help alot or just using your regular armour.

3. Low level
Most people probably already knew this but leveling your account helps prevent suspicion.

A couple of other things that might help are:
changing your character to female (everyone knows females are more trustworthy) having thought about it I would probably be less likely to report a female character (with a convincing name).

A name without numbers

Changing worlds after a certain time limit. This is mainly to counteract not speaking.

Thoughts?

Auto responder, in my opinion, is among the most important parts of avoiding player reports. So is having a personal script so you don't follow a flow of botters :p.

But if a script with an auto-responder becomes fairly popular, it can become easy to detect who uses that script because of the regularity of the responses.

Yes but if you read the entire post, i also promote the creation of personal scripts to keep originality and distance from other botters :).
(which includes responses for Auto responder).

Yeah auto responders are pretty cool, because every time someone says hi you will say hi back to them, and always have the same or similar replies. It's not bot like, right?

Edit: Fine example was when one of the woodcutting scripts had an auto responder, you would write hi in draynor and get a never ending combination of people saying "hey" "yo" "sup" "hi" to eachother.

Thats a bad example of an auto responder… Well coded auto responders would have a timer between responses etc.

They updated it so it waited a minute before speaking again, but you could still write hi and know who was botting instantly

Why is there no /ignore [insert troll name here] on these forums.

I think using an auto responder is risky because it's impossible for the bot to read into the context of the sentence assuming it's scanning the chat for key words.

You could have it scan for the word "bot" in chat and reply with something like "I'm not botting" but if you weren't being accused in the first place it would probably do more harm than good.

If you guys decide to macro with your main, avoid macroing overnight. Just do it when your watching a movie or surfing the web, but remember to always keep one eye on your player. Keep the tab on public so that if you've missed another players question or whatever you still have a chance of replying and reducing the risk of passing off as a bot.

So generally never start the conversation, reply lately but not to late, seem disinterested in what the other person has to say. Short, dull replies will do, adding a fullstop to the end of your answer helps more so that the other person wouldnt want to continue talking to you. Then you are free to relax.. :D
Oh and after you do that, make sure you always check up on your account ever 30-45minutes. see if new people have come, blah blah.

I never talk unless someone says something and i always reply so boldly and disinterested. Until you feel like the conversation has ended you are free to bot without having to worry about anyone reporting you

If you're over level 60 doing something that everyone did/does then you wont get reported no matter what.

Sure the varrock east mine is filled with bots, but everyone has mined in varrock east mine once. In otherwords, the veterans know that there will be atleast one real player in the mine.

There are too many bots for anyone to distinguish a real player from a botting player if neither reply. and generally people don't reply.

People are also apathetic, they don't like to do things. People understand that if they report one bot it would make no difference. they then realise they would have to report everyone at the mine, at which point the task is overwhelming and no one gets reported.

TL;DR.

Security in a high level, coupled with security in numbers means you wont get reported.

For an example, of people not wanting to/acitvely reporting players, I was botting on my level 3 skiller, fire making in the middle of no where. another skiller arrives to do some cooking. He asks for my fire making level. I dont reply for close to half an hour before pausing my script and posting a question mark. I then had a conversation with him and asked if he reported me to which he said 'no'. I was botting without responding, in the middle of nowhere, without a high combat level and i still didn't get reoprted, people just dont report players unless they are scamming or being rude.

I always bank my stuff, for sake of the running energy.

Vanity items are recommended. for example a black cav, or ele' They add a minuscule amount to your weight.

The only scripts i recommend actively removing your armour for are for rune crafting and agility.

In most other scripts you will have enough time to recuperate all of your run energy, or enough for the next run.

And the vanity items can be worn by low levels to show that they are wealthy and care about their current account.

I avoid player reports by not botting.

JK, all jokes aside, a good idea is to switch worlds, this way it doesn't seem obvious when a player logs in at say 3:00 PM and then comes back at 8:00 PM only to find you in the same spot, mining the same rock, etc.

It really helps with scripts that do/will run for long periods of time.

Smart. I've gotta add that to my scripts. :p

If you get reported for not talking and jagex see you have had public off while playing it would be hard for them to say you are botting plus you might be some1 that just don't talk anyway.
I think using runescapes quickchat for responding to people asking " 'TheSkill' levs ? " and reply with the quick chat of that skill waiting for 5-10 mins befor saying it again if some1 asks. You could even record the names of people already asked ? and not answer them again until you was to login again.
At skills like wcing and fishing, if leveled up then quickchat your new lev with a random ('yay', 'woop', ':)') ect… would give people a harder time in detecting bots. Just a few thought i had on the matter.
