I believe this is a place out of the way of the public and a place where i wont get judged for what i say.
Now im not to sure whether this happens to other people or whether its just me, i believe it has something to do with the fact that when i was younger i never watched any child movies.
This mainly happens with animated movies (not tv programes) by companies such as Dreamworks, Pixar, Blue Sky, Disney etc.
When i watch a film i get attached and feelings for a certain character, sometimes two. Such as Remy from Ratatouille, Walle from Walle, Toothless from how to train your dragon, Pascal from and most recently Blu and Jewel from Rio. These feelings usually last for 2-4 weeks, sometimes longer.
Once again i dont know whether this is normal or just a way of my body dealing with not seeing films when i was younger
I really would like to kjnow if this is just something with me, or whether it is normal.
Now if i know you lot here at SRL, you wont judge me.
tldr; i get feeling for characters when i watch children animation films
OT: when i was thinking about how to write it, i thought it would be longer

I think you're right on your theory about missing out on them in your childhood so when you see them today those past observations you should have already had will catch up with you.
I can relate to what you're talking about as well. I know my older brother is like me, even yet probably more "in-to" the movies than I am. For example if you've watched 'Up', my brother truly was sad over that movie, he could really get into the plot. Me, I got sad at the end of Wall-E.
So I personally don't think it's anything to do with you. Infact, I'd guess most people are like that, but perhaps too afraid to mention it. ;)
What sort of feelings? Movies are made so the watcher gets certain feelings for characters to try to keep them watching, just as the way linguistic techniques are used in books/poems. Like you said, it may have something to do with never watching animated movies when you was younger.

like i cant stop thinking about them, if in not doing any work then i think about a character
basicly, if im not doing anything then all i can think about is that character or the film

Perhaps the lack of them in your childhood has prompted you to want them in your life now, like you suggested. When you say you think of them, what do you think? Do you replay the scenes with the characters in your mind; is the character in white space standing there doing nothing; do you imagine them doing something? PM me if you want to.

thanks for the offer, but i think i can leave this public, after all it is in the members+ section so im sure everyone who can see it would be mature enough to not judge me
when i say think about the character i mean i think about certain scenes, i replay them in my head and repeat what they say to myself

Fair enough. That's understandable.
Anyway, that doesn't sound too bad. It's nothing which could be considered 'weird' (in my books anyway) like imagining the characters in some XXX porn scene.
I'll still agree with your first idea of it being because you didn't watch them as a child. If it's starting to bug you, maybe you could watch more animated films, to fulfil your body's apparently need for them? Just an idea.

You get many obsessions in your life they will come and go. I agree that your lack of watching them makes you fasinated about them when you finally watch them. It's perfectly normal in my eyes to have feeling about what your watching. Shows you have a hart tbh :)
Just to say a good anime(manga) is Bleach ;) it is japanese but you can get it with english sub.

If I understand what you mean with feelings, caring about the (main)character from a animation film. I got that to, and we are not alone on this one. It's just that in the movie I(you?) get dragged so much in the story, its not that easy to let it go.
And I watched plenty of them as kid ;)

I wouldn't have said anything because, to me, it wouldn't really be worth mentioning on my part. But if you wanna discuss it or just get something off your chest, don't be shy! I'm pretty good answering questions like these and helping to the best of my power. :)

There are certain movie characters that I get attached to. I have never thought it was wrong to think about them when I have nothing else to do or just randomly in the day.
Usually I find that there are character traits that I connect with, admire, and/or wish I had. Those are the characters that I most often find myself attached to.

Your brain is doing what its suppose to do. The reason you replay them over and over in your head is because that's how our thought processes work. When you learn something new you replay it over in your head and its replayed if you like it or not as it occurs when you sleep during REM.
Of course we all enjoy things more then others, so this is not surprising that you like to replay the scene in your head. This tends to happen more so with things your unfamiliar with (such as cartoons).

No, that's completely normal. In fact, it means the company/producer [disney etc] did their job ;)

Didn't know it was bothering you so much. I'm almost 19, and I liked animated movies from the beginning. It's no real problem that those movies drag me in so much, I enjoy sometimes getting attached to a certain personage. And to be honest, I think the problem(if any problem) is that most people don't see the true story through the kiddy graphics. Those worlds are almost always way more creative than in normal films, and so are the characters. Which gives my mind so much more new stuff to think about.
Postus scriptum;
Can you also get attached to books?

well the films themselves dont bother me, its the fact that i want to see each kiddie film that comes out and then when i do see it, i usually cant stop thinking about it for a few weeks and it distracts me from my work.
i dont really read books
apart from the programming books, i havent read a book since 1 1/2 years ago which i had to do for my GCSE's

That could be an issue since it is obviously distracting you from work.
Why don't you try experimenting with your situation? Perhaps
restrain yourself from watching it
OR after you watch it[nothing wrong with watching it] try to distract yourself by other means. Ex. Scripting, watching regular TV, exercising.
