Bot Free Monday

I have been walking with this idea in my head for the past weeks: Bot Free Monday. Loosely based of Paul Mc Cartney's Meat Free Monday. The idea is to show the real influence of the botting communities combined by not botting one day in the week. Let' s assume that we manage to persuade all botting communites to cooperate. Highly unlikely, but bear with me:

  1. It will painfully reveal the real volume of the problem. After all: 75%-90% of RS population are botters. We know it, Jagex knows it, but the runescape-community and the rest of the world is still in very much the dark. For the cheating community it will be an Apocalyptic Apotheose, a revenge for all our lost Players. Illustrating our power by NOT doing what we do all the time! I am in awe already by the mere thought of it. That will be total win.
  2. It will most certainly provoke reaction. The most likely will be: "Wow, never knew the problem was that big, Jagex needs to do something about it". The company will then probably make more haste with their "new" banning mechanisms (if what they say is true and they are indeed working on something more elaborate). That my friends, will not be so good for us.

There is much much more to be said on this subject, but for the time I'll leave you with this:

Does Point #2 outweigh Point #1?

Jagex are always saying they're making new banning mechanisms…a few years back they said there were no cheats at all. :p Would be pretty cool to see.

Best way to ensure no botters is to make the coders of the 'big bots' like RSBuddy, Powerbot etc add some code to the bot making users unaviable to bot on mondays, or else botters will just take advantage of the "bot free" mondays

This would be nice. :P

I'm assuming the communities and individual bot users that make the most difference would be the ones least likely to agree to it. And if a community did make a big difference and agreed to it, it would sort of go against the blending in philosophy of SRL in a way.

Continuing on what Boreas said about the individual user, most people who would hear about this would be unable to see the big picture, and would think it's some kind of a measurement by bot authors to make their bots less detectable, leading to the inevitable case of the "lone dumbshit" who will think "No one will notice if I bot just a bit".

Might change that to a lot of "Not so Lone Dumbshit's" thinking they are the only ones with the Idea.

P.S. I like the Idea though :)
