I mean, I probably wont ever use it cause I prefer ubuntu. I think the whole new idea of the start menu is a benefit?

I've seen other windows 8 previews which were completely different. I hope they aren't going to release this under the name windows 8. I don't use my computer as a platform to socialize, this would be a huge down-grade…

Don't you guys think this would be not as fast a normal pc OS. I desire a normal background and easy ways to navigate through the folders and files on my computer. Windows 7 did this surprisingly well. I don't see how this addition is helpful…

If I'm programming an application I need a lot of programs open and I believe that switching will be slower again. All these fancy shit will make everything slower again… I hope there is an option to run windows 8 like windows 7, without all the additional processes.

Most likely there will be this option, otherwise 90% of people who actually use Windows will hate it.

Using Microsoft programs and OS's for quite some time now, I've my doubts about it. But I do hope so.

And here I am still using windows xp and windows 7 like a sucker

No but seriously, I think I will just stay with these operating systems, they seem to be doing it fine

Parts of it look pretty cool, but it doesn't look like the easiest OS to multitask on. I'll probably stick with win7 and Ubu.

In the video it did show him open up windows explorer(the desktop) along side of the start menu, so it seems like the start menu is exactly that… :p

There's always a way to do what you want with Windows, it just might not be a Microsoft-supported option :p

I will also stick with my winblows 7 for school and ubuntu.

I just hope they don't Vista this.. Then I will just despise them even more.

I expected something more… awesome. Guess I'll just stick with Windows 7 as well.

Really doesn't seem like it's going to be that great. Sure touch screens are nice, but I prefer have a normal UI rather than what was in the video. I'll end up sticking with Windows 7 and Ubuntu like half the other people in the thread said. :\

When the beta's & leaks come out that'll help though, can't really judge it until then.

98 was ok
98 SE sucked
2000 was ok
ME sucked
XP was ok
Vista sucked
7 was ok
……sensing a pattern

I'm sticking with LinuxMint (because Unity/Ubuntu and Gnome3 suck at the moment)

Why not just use a different DE? :p But whatever. Haven't tried Mint yet. How's dpkg?

Also, winblows will still suck. Small amount I saw doesn't even make sense to me. Doesn't really seem like it has a desktop at all? Not sure. Just looks like WP7.

Honestly I think this looks really nice.
If I'm still able to play games on win8, and it's as stable as win7 (or even more stable, like xp) then I'll probably use it.

Windows XP is no where near as stable as windows 7, I honestly haven't seen windows 7 on my desktop BSOD ever, for the 2 or so years I have used it, and on my laptop where I have windows XP, it has BSOD's so many times. Also, it's a decade old operating system, people really shouldn't be using it (And yes I tried to put windows 7 on my laptop but it's not good enough to support it, so I am forced to use XP pretty much)

Win7 gets a BSOD each time I enter sleep mode on this laptop, but on the laptop at home I haven't gotten a BSOD once, so I have mixed feelings about win7…

I didn't have access to computers around 95. And XP was fantastic compared to other versions of windows.

Mint was better than Ubuntu before Unity. Canonicals decisions lately just makes me uneasy, no matter which DE. As for dpkg, I use apt.

I agree, I prefer the GUI of Windows 7 much more. Unless Microsoft forces me to buy it by restricting a new DirectX to win8 only, I'm not going to bother with it.
