I was hacked on my main… 40m taken off the account. I started using RSBuddy a couple weeks ago, but I've heard they're trusted? I don't think it was anyone here, but I got the IP.\
Oh and If this is the wrong section, feel free to move it.

Chinese IP, nice. Probably RSBot or something. That'll teach you to use Java bots!

I haven't used RSBot for over a year, with a few different passwords since then.

Possibly rsbuddy, then. I've never trusted them.

The only bots I use are SRL or iBot, I have never used anything else and have never been hacked… Word From The Wise :D

I would say that 90% of people who are getting hacked these days mention the use of Rsbuddy recently. And yet, everyone seems to look away from the fact that it could have been Rsbuddy. It just doesn't make sense to me.

I'd say rsbot.. dunno what that port thing is but if someone is trying to connect through that port, they failed.

I think we should stop using both. We can agree they both do have some good and trusting bots, but the overall is bad.
Yeah I just deleted them both. I'm not going to risk it. Sucks too… I was just tarting to learn java.

lol XD. though i agree with you, i must say that Java applets are nice. if im lazy and don't want to write cross-platform program, i will just do it in an applet. just easier .
Lol sure will :p (yeah right!!!) :D

March 16th. Auto-memberized. Not really the place to be talking about this, though.
Anyway, rah rah rah, Java bots are bad.

Might give TriBot a whirl.

I did some of the early dev work on it with TRiLeZ (not saying this to try to take credit, TRiLeZ ;)) (he's done probably 99% of the work on it), so I know that at least early versions were clean. I'd still trust it with my accounts, however I don't want to have more resources be eaten up by Java nonsense if I were to bot.
Point is, I'd trust TRiBot but no other Java bot, especially not a closed source one.

yeah. anything closed source is asking to be "hacked"…and i know its just a general term, but i wouldn't exactly call that getting hacked……… theres only 1 type of person that gets "hacked" on rs…and thats us. cheaters. (not including that itty bitty percent im not gonna mention)…
basically safety rules are :
1.SRL only
2.unless its open source. (which also infers you actually knowing how to check for pass and name sending. even on srl, with any script from someone whos not a dev or a trusted person, it only takes a second to press ctrl + f and search for "name" and "pass" and see if any variables correlate with it to a website or what not. and make sure to check updates too. first 1 may be clean…update might be sending info…
but that ^^^^^ hasnt happened in god knows how long.

Did you store your username and password in RSBuddy account bit ?
I have used RSBuddy loads and not been hacked.
If it is a Chinese IP then why would it be RSBuddy ?
I don't like the use of Java bots like that tbh but i use it to get IDs and co-ords.
I never store my username or password in RSBuddy and if i was to use my main i would change the password after the use of it.

It can really be anyone, there's tons of IP Address Changes over the Internet, you can change your IP easily to a place you want to, so that really doesn't help.

Lol, no. At best they could update the rwhois, but that wouldn't change where the routing path goes (and it'd also be against IANA rules).
What RSBuddy scripts were you using?
I was using PGarden and SeedBurglar before my account was raided.

Yeah I stored my password in it, only place I've put my password so I'm assuming that was it.

I used ProHunter, which wasn't even that great anyways…

That, my friend, is the game's port (fun fact: the client has been connecting to 43594 since RSC revision 1). However, it might be a trick. You'd need to see the IP to be sure.

Hmm, another thread stated that they had only used RsBuddy and SRL. Another thread before that stated the same, with the addition of RSBot. Now this one states the initial, RsBuddy and SRL…
So, tell me again, why does no one suspect RsBuddy? :S

Because method is involved with rsbuddy afaik and he has already said there was no malicious code in the source

That's what I heard too, but I guess it could have changed since he said that? Most of the hacks have been happening pretty recently.

Use RsBuddy, RsBot, whatever you want, just make sure you change your password after you use them, and then you know your completely safe, unless you find a keylogger on your PC.
