SRL Userbase

So I have a lot of new script ideas that I'm working on over time, and these would be very useful to us and anyone else who comes strolling in. My question is, do you really want me to release my 'more advanced' scripts in the Members section, or do you want them released in the Public Script section to attract more users to SRL?

Personally I'd like to lean twords keeping these in Members section only. I know everyone prefers to release their scripts in Public because they'll get more attention and usage there, and who doesn't like scripts being used and getting feedback?

I'm not saying that my scripts would make such a difference, but if they had anything to do with the traffic we get, would you prefer that? The choice doesn't matter a whole lot to me, but I'd like to hear what some other Members+ would like to say. Post away!

I agree with that, public scripts get more attention and it's not fair :3
You can always release in members and then have it moved/remake a thread in Public scripts.

I say first release to only members+, have some quality testing/suggestions if anything(there won't be much I can say that), than if the script is good enough or it just doesn't get attention/uses/anything than post away in the public section.

Or make a lite version trimming advanced features out for the public, but stating in your sig/script thread what the full version is capable of so you make others want to get members. That will possibly lead a few to actually learn and become a good scripter.

EDIT: Oh, god damnit I was so about the screenshot my 1337th post and I have forgotten about it.
Sorry for the language, but … derp

Now this I like. Both really good suggestions. I think I'll release them for heavy testing in Members+ section first, and I'm sure I can disable a few features here and there to make them into a Lite version.

Thank you, Sabzi. :)

And yes I agree Harry, they can always be moved to Public later if they lack attention.

THE way to go is to release in public (to get testing) then move to members. That way people will actually know there is something worth working for.

Yeah that's definitely for sure. More motivation for creation. :garfield:
I think I like the idea of Lite versions being posted in public, full version in Members+. This would be defeating the purpose if I primarily released them in public for testing. I'm not so much asking for which way to go to get better testing on my scripts, but more of everyone's opinions if we want to increase SRL's over-all userbase or not. I think a bigger community would be really nice, but I'm also worried that the majority of the new people coming in would be people from like, let's just say, Powerbot. But then again, everyone there is so used to plug-and-play.

This is off-topic, but is there a reason I can't see our Members+ market/black market?

It happens with new members sometime. PM and admin/mod? and they will grant you with the permissions. Possibly nielsie, I saw him doing these things.

I agree with the previous posts in that you should release a members version and a free version.

Looking forward to trying the script! :)
